RShift G (releases gear safety lock) G (cycles gear UP) LCtrl G (puts gear switch in neutral to preserve air) LShift G (gear down) Ah..takes me back to the Falcon nosewheel steering days.. :D BeachAV8R

Congrats Leatherneck Simulations. You did it. BeachAV8R

42 seconds.. LOL.. I hear ya'.. BeachAV8R

A DCS level Cessna Caravan would be a huge leap forward toward cracking that civil market. The map sizes are a concern, of course, but starting small with light GA stuff would help things along. Expanding the user base is a great idea.. BeachAV8R

Very nice video Ralfi..! She is a beast isn't she? I just tried the RATO takeoff yesterday and..woot..that's damn fun.. And yes, when you are low or slow on the glideslope..(as you know)..you gotta power out of it and resist the urge to pitch (much) or else you just made the MiG-21 into the world's biggest speedbrake. Love this plane.. Nice job.. BeachAV8R

I think the MiG-21 will be the crash queen for a good while. Over-rotate that big delta wing trying to correct a sink rate instead of aggressively adding power and they'll just be mushing straight into the approach lights.. Gonna be fun! BeachAV8R

Man, I'd love to see this mod make the light of day.. :) BeachAV8R

Isn't it true, however, that no matter what the size of the map, you will always have airfields that are close to the boundaries? BeachAV8R

Regardless of where the new theater might be - I agree with this premise and would love to see some sort of NOLF (Navy Outlying Field) complete with FCLP hardware similar to what vLSO does for FSX: LINK! Even having it as an optional scenery for an existing airfield would be really cool...(and *cough* getting VEAO to do a T-45..<g>) BeachAV8R

Biggest roadblock - will Canada allow overflight through their airspace from the carrier? BeachAV8R

Damn.. Good memory..I didn't even remember that one: AAR LINK Thanks for the stroll down memory lane! BeachAV8R

This is great..! As much as I am a modules fan, I really do think the second half of that equation is good content. I'm super excited to hear about this campaign... Good luck! BeachAV8R

That's a great video and really indicates how much hunting and searching will be necessary for the first dozen hours or so on this plane. Great job.. BeachAV8R

If Leatherneck were smart they would have gotten sponsorship from MagLite or something.. :megalol:

Well, I haven't become proficient enough with the MiG-21 yet to dive into the campaign or single missions yet. All I'm doing right now is practicing the ramp start tutorial over and over again to get the flow of the start. I think I've finally got the whole ramp start procedure squared away. I might write a little bit about the campaign - but I won't ruin it for anyone. Stuff like the single missions and campaigns should be experienced for the first time through fresh eyes. <g> BeachAV8R

I can't believe I'm going to waste my time typing this out a third time - but a few of us got copies because we write for print magazines or online journals. I think it is exciting for most (but not all) to see that this project is very close to the finish line. Well, perhaps not the finish line, but the release line, because we all know that no module is ever truly finished. Why is it not in your hands yet? Because it isn't quite finished. There are some placeholder items in some of the briefings, a couple typos here and there, and a few little things that need some tweaking which are being done by the developers over the course of the past two weeks. The sales techniques and purchasing infrastructure are being set up, etc..etc.. Your speculation about the promo being full of bugs is complete hogwash. SimHQ's EinsteinEP and I flew a two hour multiplayer session a couple nights ago and about all we could do was rave about the quality of the textures, the sounds, and we were giggling like school children as we explored our cockpits. He was flying the Russian cockpit version, so he was frequently guiding me onto buttons or switches to ask me what they said in English. It was a lot of fun. The overwhelming majority of backers and people who haven't yet decided to purchase seem to enjoy the glimpses into the quality and thoroughness of the MiG-21 project. I'll grant you that people that have backed this program have waited a long time for it, and I understand that you guys have been infinitely patient, but you will find that the end result is incredible. As for critical comments - as a magazine reviewer we rarely make critical comments about beta software (unless it is something really fundamentally wrong), but once the software is "final", we give a complete assessment of the product, warts and all. Suffice it to say though, that you can get a general feel for the quality based on a combination of screenshots and comments. Do I like the MiG-21? No. I love it! BeachAV8R

Actually, you buy the flashlight and the MiG-21 comes with it. It is a rather expensive flashlight though.
-
I close my eyes in the flare too. BeachAV8R

Using the flashlight (yes, there is one) to hunt around the cockpit at night for switches... Dat spike... Flying formation.. Einstein and I had an awesome two hour MP session this evening. All we did was fly around and marvel at how unbelievable this plane and the level of detailing is. Pushed a lot of buttons and tried to break a bunch of stuff. Einstein is a great formation flyer and he let me bury my head in the cockpit to try to figure out why my radar wasn't working (missed a switch somewhere!).. A great time and no damaged MiGs! I almost ran EP out of fuel though..I think he landed with 300 liters..<g> BeachAV8R

Is there a setting to limit how many lines of text appear on the screen and their duration? For some reason when I'm flying the Su-33 I get a ton of messages that stay on the screen... BeachAV8R
-
And let me tell you - you guys have done an INCREDIBLE job. The textures just blow me away. :worthy: BeachAV8R

This MiG-21 module has made me infinitely thankful that ED implemented that whole ability to re-map controls on the fly within DCS World. It would have been a nightmare to learn this module with the old scheme of having to exit the mission and then enter the setup to reconfigure. Whew.. BeachAV8R

I am immensely impressed that he got his gear up. Many people will be wondering how to do that actually.. <g> BeachAV8R

Manassas. Been there quite a few times. I learned to fly just down the road from there at Quantico MCAS. In the "old" days there used to be a low altitude VFR corridor that ran between Dulles and National that weekend warriors could run up and down without even having to talk to ATC. Ah, the good old days before the terrorists won. BeachAV8R

I need a LAN box and I can just put it on my airplane and doing a traveling road show while I'm working.. <g> BeachAV8R
