Shot down in fam flight in new Georgian Hammer campaign
BeachAV8R replied to Yurgon's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I got mud spiked on that mission..but no launch indication. I can't remember what altitude I was at (that may have something to do with it). I was also pretty snappy with my turns. A low bank angle during some of the cycling of waypoints might have you drifting further north than desired. Airspeed is also a variable that affects the radius of your turn. I'm excited to try out the new Combined Arms commands. Wouldn't you know it - as soon as Matt releases it, my real life work schedule jacked up and I haven't had a chance to delve into it quite yet. Really cool stuff though..and the ability to move ground units via CA will be cool for future mission designers. I sure wish I could have issued a retreat command to my forces in mission #03.. ;) BeachAV8R -

Great.. Looking forward to that. Just curious why the developer isn't doing that though? -

VERGEEV Group campaign RELEASED!

Thanks Highwayman-Ed.. If you can confirm they work with DCS World w/ BS2 installed I'd like to pick it up. Regards, BeachAV8R -
I'm a little confused on what campaigns work. I'm using DCS World with the A-10C and I see in the campaign list that Georgian Hammer is included. Are other campaigns from the stand-alone DCS: A-10C compatible with DCS World? Gabu posted that The Shore and Iron Cross are available HERE, but I don't see any mention of them working with DCS World? Any summary of what works with what would be appreciated.. BeachAV8R

LOL..yeah..go figure. Hopped on an open server and actually managed to spend about 4 hours connected without any problems. The mission was pretty busy at the airport, which gave some poor FPS initially.. People would come and try to join but were getting some kind of ping rate boot or something.. I flew for an hour, then parked and turned on my APU to take my kid to the pool, then came back a couple hours later and it was still running fine. I haven't flown weapons in the A-10 in a long time (been working on procedures mostly..not dropping stuff..) It took me a bit to figure some stuff out. I missed on my first two bombing passes because my laser wasn't firing. I think the timer was not on auto and I wasn't hitting my NWS switch. Finally figured that out after wasting a couple bombs.. Went Winchester on bombs and rolled in for a rocket attack. Imagine my embarrassment when I realized all I had were marking rockets. Doh! Came around for some strafing runs and blew some stuff up. All of these were static targets..nothing shooting back. Although there was an active SAM zone for practice too. I'll have to look up the name of the server..it was something like "Range Practice" or something.. Went back to base, parked and put my APU for a couple hours.. These were the messages the guys trying to join would get. They'd be in the mission for 4 or 5 minutes then..bam..they'd be gone.. Changed my loadout with the ground crew. I had to pull up YouTube on my iPad and get a refresher on how to get a new DSMS page setting to reflect the new loadout.. Thank God for the internet(s).. My first time using the "skeets" or CBU-97.. Very impressive weapon..but I couldn't seem to get the pattern right over the armor. I was just nipping the edges. The wind was blowing the chutes off of the target before they would deploy.. Some good old CBU-87.. I think they must have updated the explosions effects in DCS World huh? Looking forward to maybe getting online and flying with some REAL people tonight. LOL..my MP session was pretty lonely.. <G> BeachAV8R

iControl DCS (Another iPad pit)
BeachAV8R replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I can verify that for perhaps owners of some cards (NVidia) this is a valid way to go about extended your desktop even if you don't have a second physical monitor. I spent an hour the other night and finally figured out the proper settings. I simply forced an 800 x 600 display via my display setup even though there really wasn't one there. Then I extended my desktop to that non-existent display. Opened up A-10 VC Server and slid the 300 x 300 displays over off the right side of my screen. It took some manual adjusting to get them in the right spots (since I couldn't actually see them).. But in the end, I have no MFCDs on my main game screen (1680 x 1050) and two perfectly exported MFCDs on my iPad! Help that helps some people.. I'm using a GTX 285 w/ 301.42 drivers.. BeachAV8R -
Thanks..interesting article about the number of aircraft that can't take fuel at the maximum rate.. :)
-
Just curious - I've read some literature that the KC-135 can SEND fuel at a rate of up to 6000 lbs/minute. Is there any data on how fast the A-10C can receive fuel? And how is that controlled? Does the KC-135 have to set a transfer pressure/rate on their end or is it self regulating based on the receiving aircraft receptacle/plumbing? :joystick: BeachAV8R

Just because you are good at shooting tanks doesn't mean you won't kill yourself flying IMC between your base and the AO. People can play the game however they want, but I do think that good training in fundamentals develops you into a better war-fighter. It also helps with standardization when flying with wingmen. But like I said - to each their own. However you want to play it is up to you..

:) Let's hope their attention to detail on that isn't indicative of the effort they'll put into the Hornet...

Posted an AAR of BFT02 at SimHQ: HERE! Looking forward to flying #3.. I got the updated campaign e-mail - if I install it, will I lose the first two mission successes or does it still keep going forward with the campaign? Regards! BeachAV8R -

If ED could fix the track system it would sure make it a lot better..
