I played 1-3 a lot. I skipped IV, and continued with V. V is very buggy and gameplay didn´t convince me so I stopped very quickly. III is my favorite, especially with grey wolves mod. The only thing I resent and caused me to stop playing is that whenever your torpedo hits your location is magically revealed to enemy. I am not 100% sure in this, but the last time I remember reading about this it was hardcoded in game. Sometimes this becomes really annoying. I bough empty double DVD pack (for original SH3 and mods). If I ever get back into SH it will be SH3. Maybe 6 will be better:music_whistling:

Su-25T is shaking stick with too high AoA. Probably because it is not fly by wire. I also miss vibration when on runway. I don´t think it is implemented.

Giving your Sided Winder Force Feedback 2 Steroids
Godzila replied to Whiplash's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I am currently making something similar as PeterP, but I fear, that with edge and newer DX there will be no FF on lower unit. I am thinking about driving two units with single board, with upgraded mosfets and dual power supply. But as you can see my electronic skills aren´t perfect so I will have to check with my friends who laugh at me for 1+1 ohm=2ohm:doh: I will see then if it will be needed, but maybe I will use only your mod if it will be enough. -
I have 3 and they are all like that. If you open it you will see that it is very poorly designed. I think that FFB2 is good base for a joystick. Grip and (lack of) buttons in original form are not good enough for DCS or similar sims. BTW, i see you have older version with grey buttons. Did you notice any humming noise in headphones? And without power cable noise comes and goes in same intervals as FFB led. Newer versions don`t have this problem and I wonder if the problem is only with my hardware.

Giving your Sided Winder Force Feedback 2 Steroids

I would really be happy if you made this mod earlier. Now I don`t know whether I should make PeterP`s mod with two or copy your system. If mosfets aren`t heating it should be OK. Why didn`t you use regular size 1/4W resistors? It would be easier to solder if you removed old resistors and use regular 2 ohm in that place. They are so cheap that you can`t buy less than 5 because store wouldn`t earn even for printint a receipt. -
I was so sure that two commands simultaneously will conflict that I didnt even try:doh: I will use rotary switch on throttles and additional "momentary ON" for different nav modes.

I am going to build some sort of universal panel mainly for FC3 planes. I have pretty much decided on the layout for stick, throttle and panel. The only thing that bugs me is how to change modes. I though about rotary switch, but there is a problem with different nav modes. I could make separate switch for changing nav modes and next waypoint, but I am afraid there is going to be conflict if rotary is in lets say BVR mode. Last resort is to put keys 1-8 on a panel, but that is the least favorable plan. I also thought about mouse wheel with a button, but as I see it there is no way to implement this because there is no "previous/next mode" in options. I know that most panel builders here make copies of real panels, so there is not much to decide. I read through the forum a lot, but couldnt find any solutions. I really dont want to reinvent the wheel with this and hope someone has ideas or it has been done before.

I had problems viewing embedded youtube videos posted by others. At first I couldn`t select full screen option. Icon displays normally at "mouse over", but when i click it nothing happens. I didn`t saw that as a problem and just clicked on "Watch on youtube" icon to see it on youtube directly. And now this doesn`t work also. I have to to go to youtube and manually search for the video to view it full screen. I tried with different browsers and results were the same.

That also crossed my mind, but I hoped this is not the problem. Thanks, this info saved me some time scratching my head.

I have some problems with 3ds max 2012. I can`t import .edm models. I installed several plugins without sucess. I tried with open and with import function. Should I try some more plugins or is there some other procedure for opening .edm models? I tried with several static objects in bazar folder. Modelviewer works OK.
-
I saw that topic, but missed that pdf:doh: Thank you, I am downloading 3dstudiomax now...

Hi, sorry if this was answered somewhere else, but I couldn`t find it. In model viewer I didn`t see this option. I am not asking for serving info because my lack of searching, for now I am just asking if it is possible. I am asking specifically for ED made and Belsimtek models, since I couldn`t find their .edm files in my DCS folder.

The Su-27 Mozdok fortress is not working.

I have the same problem with mig29 campagin. Wingman is constantly using afterburner for 5 seconds and then airbrake for 10. And that goes on in intervals until he runs out of fuel. -
I don`t have your knowledge, frankly I don`t even understand half of what you are talking about, but I and some others also found unoptimised probmlems. Fps loss is definitely not caused by demanding avionics and radar systems as some say in defence. Fps are simply wasted on unneeded stuff. I also don`t want to be negative or bashing this product, but I think that repairing current problems is a priority. EDGE or anything is not going to repair broken models on old map. Lods are big problem. I think most errors came when models were converted from older format and lod data got corrupted on some. My findings are in this topic. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=109005&page=4 Some more similar topics: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=103664 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101491

I wanted to reply you in that topic, so we could have these debates in less topics. Yes, I looked at your photos. I also think "obj" is not directly related. The problem is more deep. Obj number is problematic only with detailed models. I think that 1000 obj looking at the forrest is not such a problem as 1000 obj looking at the airport lights. I didn`t find what exactly is the problem, so I am still chasing models with to much "obj" and too far draw distance (lod setting). I manualy searched through files to find models with too much "obj" count. There is a lot about that in this topic: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101491 I deleted all problematic models. There is airport terminal with 3 docks and 1 "obj", and there are railway cars with 90 "obj". And when that is in game it doubles, I think because of shadows or something else. I think that difference you see is because sometimes those "obj" are lights, other times simple windscreen wipers... and they get rendered differently and impact fps differently. Now I am searching for theese objects to delete them. They will probably increase near airport performance a lot. The only problem is, that all static Mi-8s have too detailed model now.
-
And here is picture with unmodified graphic and high.lua Lod distance is too high compared to other models. If I change LodMul factor I can reduce FPS hit, but all other objects with correct lod data gets corrupted. I can see boxes changing shapes into trucks, but Huey and Mi-8 still look very detailed. On the picture you can see object count is very high, even if you can`t distinguish Huey from Chinook at that distance. First picture is from start position before takeoff in "Target practice" mission.
-
@doveman, I will post further on other performance topics Here is default Huey training mission, only 4 aircraft on strip are changed. On one is 4x Huey, on other 4x Hind. My graphic settings are changed a lot, with default settings fps difference is even higher. Those having problems should test for themselves by changing those 4 targets once to 4x Mi-8 or Huey and once with some other aircaft. My FPS are low, because I have old computer, but as posted by others over 1000 objects can bring even high performance computer to slideshow.

I was looking through the forum because I didn`t know where to start this exact topic. I made similar observations and tests as user "TZeer". He made several posts where he talks about this problem but it looks like he is ignored. Object count is big problem for game performance. Mi-8 and Huey modules have realy big numbers, and they are also drawn very far. 3 parked Hueys have same object count and same performance impact as the most unoptimized airport. I made my game ugly because I thought that trees, buildings, draw distance.... will have big impact, but all tweaks become useless when a few unoptimized models come into view. They don`t even have to be near, their lod models are drawn too far and I can`t change it without affecting all models in game. Belsimtek should reduce object count on both models when they are further away. I am not experienced 3D modeller and don`t exactly know how and why they have so much objects, but parked and AI controled models realy don`t need so much detail. I will post some screenshots later
