  1. Didn't have time to write first impressions. I like it a lot. I am not sorry for downloading open beta just for this. First time in a sim that I really felt that i fly something big and heavy. It feels like plane is trying to kill you all the time, but so rewarding to fly. Landings are a lot easier because plane is gliding at low speed instead of flying on rails. I successfully entered inverted spin of death many times, even without disabling FBW. I don't know if it is really irrecoverable situation. It appears to have some bugs, but this was the module that I wished for the most. I hadn't have time to dogfight yet, I only did some free flying. Most of the time in DCS for me was in this, mig29 and Su-25T, so this is really big step forward for me.
  2. It was a test. Tires burst also with 50% fuel and full load of missiles. I thought that pressing W is somehow regulated. I see that plane breaks really hard. I agree with holding W in bursts until we get brake axis.
  3. I had to ask to find a solution 5 minutes later:music_whistling: Problem was, that when he binded serial to his account it somehow didn't bind it. It was bound to "none". Maybe because he didn't buy any modules before. I then didn't have option to bind it directly to his account. Now that I used "bind to xxxx" it worked.
  4. I gifted SU27 module. He bound it to his account, but he doesn't see it in module manager. He also can't download it from main page. It says "module not available ATM". Probably because it is in the beta. Is there any way to force install it through updater or something. Using Skatezilla's instructions (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030) updater responds with "unknown module".
  5. I tested a bit more. Now that you mentioned some input is causing this i think I have found the cause. I think that if I don't launch FTnoIR game crashes often. I tried 20 times now and with FTnoIR working crashes disappeared. Problem is that crashes are not always present. Now that I know what to look for I think I will be able to isolate this as a FTnoIR problem. I installed open beta and didn't touch anything besides assigning basic axes for joystick. I didn't add headtracker.dll (after adding nothing changed). That is why I opened this thread. I have non-beta install with lots of mods, multimonitor and custom inputs edits so I didn't even bother asking about this.
  6. I tested it a bit more. It seems that weight is the problem. With over 90% max weight I can land ok, but I can't touch wheel brakes or tires will burst. That is without steering or crosswind. Tires burst when speed falls under 100 km/h.
  7. After landing I blow tires when braking when speed falls below 90 km/h. I use W key, no axis braking. Is this normal? What am I doing wrong?
  8. Joystick is MSFFB2, don't know about drivers, but since it is so old I thought that what came with Win7 is good enough. I also use 1 Leo Bodnar BU836A and FTnoIR. It is not mission or aircraft related. I just restart once or twice and it is OK. Maybe it is just a feeling, but I think that if I wait few seconds before clicking "FLY" it doesn't crash so often.
  9. Game occasionally crashes when mission loading starts. It returns me to start with "cannot open debriefing file". Attached log is from open beta, but it is the same with regular version. Mods don't seem to affect this. I can attach more logs if needed. I already tried reinstalling drivers, directX and C++. System is Win7 64bit and I am above minimum specs. Game runs fine besides these occasional crashes. # -------------- 20141108-204223 -------------- # C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at ED852D52 00:00000000 00000000 00000000 0000:00000000 ED852D52 002DE9B0 0000:00000000 DllCanUnloadNow()+D42 ED8547EC 002DEA40 0000:00000000 DllCanUnloadNow()+27DC ED85531C 002DEB90 0000:00000000 DllCanUnloadNow()+330C EFA4128C 002DEBD0 0000:00000000 DirectInput8Create()+CA6C EFA44964 002DEC10 0000:00000000 DllCanUnloadNow()+2888 EFA454EE 002DEC40 0000:00000000 DllCanUnloadNow()+3412 EFA3DA36 002DEC90 0000:00000000 DirectInput8Create()+9216 EAE31D7B 002DEDB0 0000:00000000 EAE31171 002DEDF0 0000:00000000 EAE37102 002DEE60 0000:00000000 ??_FInputKeyAction@@QEAAXXZ()+BC2 EAE3628C 002DEEC0 0000:00000000 ?setImmediate@ForceFeedback@@AEAAX_N@Z()+3EC EAE34DB8 002DF050 0000:00000000 ??1Input@@AEAA@XZ()+B68 EAE351BB 002DF090 0000:00000000 ??1Input@@AEAA@XZ()+F6B EFA423EB 002DF550 0000:00000000 DllCanUnloadNow()+30F EAE34F8C 002DF5C0 0000:00000000 ??1Input@@AEAA@XZ()+D3C EAE33D81 002DF6A0 0000:00000000 EAE4189F 002DF6F0 0000:00000000 ?initialize@Input@@SAXPEAX@Z()+9F 40164D09 002DF7A0 0000:00000000 402262F2 002DFDC0 0000:00000000 40229380 002DFE00 0000:00000000 777F652D 002DFE30 0001:0001552D C:\Windows\system32\kernel32.dll BaseThreadInitThunk()+D 7792C521 002DFE80 0001:0002B521 C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll RtlUserThreadStart()+21 DCS-Crash-20141108-204223.rar
  10. Do you have FF enabled in game options? Just an idea, since you didn't mention it.
  11. I would suggest this for DCS. But it depends which aircraft you fly. http://www.amazon.com/Mad-Catz-F-L-Y-5-Stick-PC/dp/B001EYU1VO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414918190&sr=8-1&keywords=cyborg+fly+5 It has lots of buttons and hat for sensor slew, rotary for zoom, dual throttle. You need it for more modern planes. It is not very high quality. Pots are bad, not spiking but they loose range with use. But then I got mine used and don't know how much use it had before me. I would suggest something cheap for starting in DCS, since you will probably buy something more expensive later.
  12. What about your settings? There are some very demanding settings that you can live without like MSAA, TSSAA, HDR, tree shadows...
  13. Thanks for effort, but it didn't help. After I switch back i have only default resolutions. I have no problem manually selecting my resolution, the problem is that when I switch from single to multimonitor I have to calculate screen width manually. I will probably put a sticker with numbers on my monitor:lol: This optionsData.lua got moved somewhere else apparently and I can't find it.
  14. I researched this a bit more. This trailer was promo for finding investors for fictional movie. It apparently found sponsors and will become reality, but for now nothing is known about which genre will it be.
  15. I don't know this as a fact, but this is old. If I recall correctly it is a joke. Promo video for recording studio. There is no documentary, this "trailer" serves as promotion for the studio. But it is a very nice conspiracy theory:lol: The underground airport is real, but destroyed now. It was used as airport, nothing else. There is some info on internet and films in english on youtube if somebody got interested.
  16. Is there any update on this. I would need this fix, but I can't find "optionsData.lua" in that folder. I searched for this file in other locations, but none has the structure to add custom resolutions.
  17. I would be very happy if ED made viewports for gauges and panels. Is that a lot of work or is just something FC3 planes will never get?
  18. I think that we don't need 8 cores 5GHz implementation to calculate graphic stuff on ancient graphic engine. Upgrade from DX9 to 11 will reduce CPU usage and offload the work to graphic card. I think it will significantly improve performance on older/weaker CPUs and demand more powerfull graphic cards. You can setup very intense ground battle with lots of units on old computer and when looking in the sky FPS will be good.
  19. I am no expert, but I explored these FPS problems because of mine low spec system. Those following the forum frequently know that EDGE is coming with DX11 which will help a lot. With current DX9 CPU is overloaded with 3d models which are made by today standards. Systems modeling is spit in a bucket for CPU. ED could correct their 3d models for smooth play in DX9, or make new engine. They choose later which is better in my opinion. I just hope it will really be released this year. And as Pman said, AMD is not supporting DX9 which is not ED's fault.
  20. I have 128GB SSD on the way to me. I have a plan to use it only for "games" folder and some programs (Photoshop has very long load times). I have OS on very recent 1TB HDD and it feels reasonably fast in my opinion. I have no need to have fast OS or programs since I use my computer mainly for internet and games. Is there any benefit in my case to installi my OS and games into same SSD? I have pagefile disabled. Should I put OS temp dir to SSD because of games? I really don't like to decay my SSD unnecessarily. Not that it won't last, but I will have a bad feeling of destroying something unnecessarily.
  21. Nicely done. I don't know if you tried force feedback, but you should try MS FFB2 once. In my opinion it is a must for old planes, since it gives you feedback about too high AoA. I would put that grip on extended MSFFB2 base. Since you have an access to lathe you can mod MSFFB2's gimbals to make them without wobble and play. That combined would make very quality peace of hardware. Just an idea, not everyone likes FFB. I couldn't go back to spring joystick once I tried MSFFB2.
  22. Thanks for posting. I will probably play this next year on summer vacation.
  23. From what material is the grip made of?
  24. You can make DIY track IR to save some money. But it can be time consuming, and if you don't get it right the first time it won't be as cheap as some say. I sometimes wonder if it wouldn't be better to buy the real thing from the start. Headtracking is a must for these kind of games in my opinion. The first thing you need after joystick.
  25. This photo shows up a lot on the internet, so there is probably translated version somewhere. If so please post a link. Otherwise I would be very grateful if someone speaking Russian can translate.
