Pre-Purchase Su-27 for DCS World
Godzila replied to KrizzKaliko's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I was so happy about it I also bought it. I will probably gift it to someone who will go: "Meeh, boring, back to BF4" or something. -

What GPU for i7 2600k build for DCS
Godzila replied to ExGreyFox's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have 760 4GB with g3258 oc to 4Ghz, everything else similar as you. I have limited 60 fps in the air and minimum 30 fps with occasional drops to 25 at most demanding places. Average probably 45 fps at high settings except shadows, water, heat blur and AA off and with civil traffic high. Right now it is all CPU bottlenecked, but EDGE will probably be different. Everything about edge is speculation, but he will probably be good until then, and in my opinion even beter after. -
Feature Request: new Viewport for "Fixed Dash View"
Godzila replied to nTehgRaTea's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
+1 I fly mostly FC3 planes and I really miss instruments on second monitor. -
Open the mission with mission editor and change mission options. Uncheck "force options" or something similar.
-
If you could put plane on autopilot and switch position to refueling boom operator it might be fun. But I still voted "maybe"

I made this, but guessing from the response I am only one using it:lol: Try flying near Novorossiysk airport and harbor to see the difference. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=129691

I would really like to know why I wasn't informed about last flash sale? Was it announced by email? I am subscribed to DCS newsletter. Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I didn't want to open another new topic about this sale.

What is your framerate with FC3, compared to other DCS sim's?
Godzila replied to Cyn0sure's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
You will have better fps. Shkval on KA50 or Su25T is very FPS demanding. If you want to fly fighter planes higher in the sky you will get better FPS, but flying A10A your FPS will drop when viewing ground units throuh monitor like SU25T. Try creating a mission with several AI planes attacking eachother and monitor from safe distance with su25T without turning on Shkval monitor. It should give you an idea about FPS. -
Yes, audio also works. I have problems with my onboard mic input because it plays my system sounds to others. I used PS3 eye mic and others say that it is very clear. I of course use headphones, otherwise this wouldn't be possible. I don't know if you meant this as irony, but instructions for Accela filter are like few lines and a picture:lol: http://sourceforge.net/p/facetracknoir/wiki/Accela/

Not related to previous posts, but since hardware update I also had to reinstall FTNOIR. When I tried to set up my DIY project I read a lot of similar threads, so this may help someone, or even me If I have to reinstall everything:) Before I thought that I had it set up pretty well, but it wasn't perfect. I guessed that it's cheap TIR alternative and that it will newer work 100%. I am using PS3 eye, DIY 3 point clip, point tracker 1.1, Accela filter and freetrack 2.0 game protocol. This time I really put my time into it and is working very well. I tried Accela filter and it didn't work good, so i struggled with EWMA instead. But this time I read the instructions and used Accela with stock filter settings and (as instructions clearly stated) set smoothing to 1. There are of course other settings, but this is day and night compared to before. I couldn't go back. There are a lot of settings and options, but most are easy to understand. The most important is, that you limit your up axis to 90° for DCS or your view will go weird when looking up. Also avoid too much tinkering in FTNOIR curves settings. I think it messes up game protocol for translations, rotations... It is better to set it up for your needs with ingame settings. Also PS3 eye driver is not free anymore, and since I payed them some I also donated to FTNOIR devs. They sent me new alpha version which works without bugs. But I don't know if this version did anything to improve my experience, because I installed it in the beginning before setting everything up.

I work with cars and I have to tell you that you shouldn't mix cars with airplanes. Cars are made with flaws intentionally. I am not talking about software bugs, but mayor design weaknesses in sometimes critical components. At least I hope it is not the same. Cars are designed to fail after warranty expires, which is few years, airplanes should fly for decade or decades. And when components manufacturers almost control the whole industry there can be no national or racial comments because parts are made worldwide regardless of location or nationality of the brand that the parts are made for. That is not the same for aircaft manufacturers I hope.

DCS World mod: Bad models overwrite
Godzila replied to Godzila's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thank you Milli for your reply. It helped me to further advance this mod. This is more severe form of previous mod. It replaces only animated cranes and problematic railway car. It deletes all containers from ports, all storage silo's, all scenery boats, beach umbrellas and some scenery from storages near airports. Some of this stuff is not really needed, but it helps to get some free object count near problematic areas like airports. This is a must for slow computers and a bit of a help for medium powered. Bad models overvrite&remove.rar -
Since EDGE is on the way this mod will probably be quickly obsolete. Anyway, I got tired of removing bad models manually after every update. This mod is not finished, I have many more ideas, but it is not worth waiting until there is no need for a mod. Consider this work in progress and feel free to add or point me to more problematic models. This mod was inspired by this topic http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=101491 It replaces problematic animated cranes with construction cranes, unoptimized railway car with better, replaces all sailboats and small ships with a boat.... All models are replaced with ingame models, I didn't create any of them. You can test fps before/after in bigger ports like Novorosiysk. There are also models which should be deleted, but I don't know how to do that with JSGME. I will post a list later. To install this mod you just unzip files in your JSGME mods folder or directly into DCS install folder and overwrite files. More in post #2 Bad models overwrite.rar

Don't know if this is a bug, and didn't test this, but to add to this topic. WWII tech, as previously posted uses DC generators, which are in fact dynamos. They increase output with RPM, unlike AC generators (alternators) like ones in our cars, which can output max power almost at idle (but increase load on the engine). Regarding possible bug, 2400 RPM should supply enough and even charge the battery, as Kodoss said. Unless there is some power leak we don't know about.

 I really wanted Bf-109, but I thought it won't be released anytime soon so I choose Dora for my backers reward instead. I didn't even know what Dora is before DCS. , I guess I a am going to pay a lot for this mistake. There are no words to explain how mad I am:mad: Don't get this in a wrong way, I am not native english speaker. Go ED and DCS WWII:pilotfly:

How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
Godzila replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
What is wrong here? I tried this so many times i have double vision. I had this working on my previous install, but didn't save it. {down = iCommandPlaneGearUp, name = 'Landing Gear Up', category = 'Systems'}, {down = iCommandPlaneGearDown, name = 'Landing Gear Down', category = 'Systems'}, {combos = {{key = "JOY_BTN26"}}, down = iCommandPlaneGearDown, up = iCommandPlaneGearUp, name = 'Landing Gear Down', category = 'Systems'},I did exactly the same for airbrake switch and it worked. At least to me it looks the same. I noticed that it assigns the same button for all of mine controllers, but I can delete working one, but not this one.:helpsmilie: -
Armoured glass refraction must see video
Godzila replied to MA_Goblin's topic in Military and Aviation
If I know correctly 3d model can be made visible only from one side and transparent from other. So there can be another smaller 3d model of problematic areas seen from inside of the cockpit and regular 3d model from outside. I made once a 3d model for a game and this phenomenon was a bug for me. In this case it could be a feature  Don't know if this is possible in DCS, or even if I am correct, because that was 10 years ago and that was my first and last try at modeling. -
Probably this I have put new graphic card into 8 years old system and it performed worse.
-
I also think that new game engine is a priority. Bugs are annoying, but I think they can wait. It is better to start with new engine and then correct bugs, than correcting them before and after new engine. Regardless of that a lot of them are not game engine related. I assume that EDGE takes enormous amount of resources, and if done slowly it will be obsolete when released. I think that a lot of users really struggle with old engine and fps. It is not that hard for long time DCS user to justify hardware upgrade costs required with current engine, but that probably chased away a lot of new users.

This avionics mode was set by default when I downloaded DCS world. I also had trouble finding out how to solve this.

I use MSFFB2 and when I switch to another plane there is no FFB, not even centering force, as if I pulled the power cable from joystick. Is that common problem or is there problem on my computer only?
-
It was a hard answer, but correct. It was stupid of me to think it is common bug. Since I saw other topics I didn't even research my problem. It turned out that I had one of the C++ packages in 32bit instead of 64bit.
