Uuuuaaaah..! I have started building now..!

What kind of 5- way switch? Coolie hat type? btw: what happened to the finish paint of your panel? It looks very uneven and rough. -
Instead of hover you could use standard heli waypoints and then define speed and altitude. Zero Speed means hover. -Heli [speed;altitude;...]

Proposal for Producer's Note _ 3- FLIGHT DYNAMICS.wmv
Nordic replied to Esac_mirmidon's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yes, that would be very nice. And the final move should be a nice autorotation. -
Great-very informative. Uploading at youtube right now. btw: What does ABRIS stand for again? EDIT: Damn, youtube says the video is too long. I don't have time now to split the video- sorry.

Collective? Anyone have any BS expirience with a HOTAS?
Nordic replied to RedTiger's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I used to play with the x52 throttle and it worked fine. Now i have the throttle replaced by a collective and flying with the collective stick makes thing just a little bit easier, because as you move up the collective the chopper also moves up. I guess this gives you a more intuitive feeling about the controls. In conclusion i would say the difference is very small and there is no must have for a collective. Of course it is nice to have and see urze's mod easy to build/add. -

Actually i meant something else. Not the function of the button, but the type of switch. I'm using for my hat button a joystick switch from http://www.conrad.de part nr.: 705178 - 62. It works well and has tactile feedback (you feel a click), but there might be some better alternatives with a shorter actuation range. The one from conrad has a travel of 8°, which is okay, but it could be a little less. -

Looking good. Which switches are you going to use for the 4-way buttons? -
Thx urze- nice video.

Had ED said anything about BS on CD/DVD?
Nordic replied to RedTiger's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Manual as an option sounds good to me. I definately want to have a printed version. It's a must have. -
Thx for the tip- tomorrow i will get my copy :smartass:

Here are some more pics of my DIY anti torque pedals. Those long black thingys are gas springs, which have an almost constant spring characteristic. That means there is no centering force acting on the pedals. In first place i wanted to have some simple dampers without springs, but i couldn't find any or rather they were way too expensive.

heli chair with collective and 7-speed usb gearbox
Nordic replied to G3's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Nice and clean- i like it. Are you going to add a button box to your collective? -
The blade inertia doesn't change. The rotational energy of the rotor e.g rotor speed changes and shouldn't drop too much. I guess 200m above the ground while hovering your chances of a succesfull autorotation are low.

Like i said before: Those self made setups don't guarantee a linear output. Of course it would be nice if they do it. Rotational hall sensors are very expensive though for a reason. It's your choice :).

Hi leafer, glad you like it :). Actually it is a "dual cockpit", both for racing and flying. Therefore i have to keep things neutral and flexible and those alu profiles are just perfect for this purpose. Although i would love to build a complete cockpit, there is just no space and time. For the pedals i'm using a vishay 357 poti which have proven their precision and lifetime in my racing pedals. I don't have plans, but you can send me pm for more infos. We are already offtopic in a offtopic thread;).

Are there any detailed drawings or pics out there about the trim mechanism? Would be interesting to see...

I would like to add one thing to the poti vs hall sensor discussion. In my opinion there is no need to use expensive hall sensors, because if you buy high quality potis they will last a very long time. I use Vishay 357 potis for 10€/piece (rated for 5.000.000 cycles) in my self made racing pedals since 2 years and they work like on the first day. Potis have a bad image, because big hardware manufactures use very low quality and cheap potis in their controllers. They are not interested in selling hardware which last forever. If you can find cheap hall sensors, fine, otherwise i would recommend potis. And they have definitve a linear charateristic. I'm not sure about the self made hall sensors mods you can see at racesimcentral. AFAIK no one ever tested the linearity. http://www.vishay.com/docs/57059/357.pdf http://www.vishay.com/docs/57042/157.pdf

who cares???

Well, it enhances the immersion but it will not get easier because now you have to coordinate your leg, right- and left arm- at the same time. I used to fly with the x52 twist grip setup as rudder, but then i built my own anti torque pedals and now i'm getting used it. Definately more fun and immersion, but i wouldn't say it is easier. Also the Ka-50 requires (or should) a lot less pedal input due to the coaxial rotor than a convential helo. I think if you don't have a track ir device get it first.

DCS: Black Shark - Q&A **READ FIRST!**
Nordic replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hi Sundowner, this is not a joystick related issue. Apparently Lockon doesn't support devices with more than 32 buttons. I had the same problem with my plasma lite unit from betainnovations! I got it working now with a keyboard emulation software, but ED should really solve this issue. This is what Leo says, the man behind www.betainnovations.com
