  1. You need to load the mission in SP and let it run for 10-15 mins. Then you exit, join MP and wait until it either loads or puts you back in the menu. If it threw you out, you should reconnect and it'll probably work, if not it's also probably better to quit and reconnect again. So far everytime I managed to not get kicked in the first attempt I had a constant 1 fps so it's a no go. It also seemed to be important not to join any A/C in the first join. On the 2nd go it usually doesn't lag. Not sure how consistent it is, but it seemed to work.
  2. The server stability seems incredible, from what I've seen so far our server can go on for a whole day without crashing with 30-50 players on all the time with Longbow. That's just straight up unprecedented on any previous iteration of DCS. The client side is a bit of a killer, with the memory leak you have to use some workarounds to even be able to connect to the server. In my limited experience it seemed to crash every hour, but this seemed also very closely connected to the memory leak (~ 100% RAM use near crash). Also mass disconnects at times due to unknown reason. I'm not trying to jinx it, but if the memory leak is fixed this should be fantastic.
  3. Disclaimer: I do not mean this as a bash, just painting a picture of the reality. It's a catch 22. Many people are not interested in MP because of how bad it has been and how many problems it still has. I remember the days of 1.2.4 where the server crashed every 20 minutes if more than 5 people were flying. If you had more than 10 guys on the 51st or the 104th server and it didn't crash in an hour you considered yourself lucky. It has been somewhat steadily improving but there are still ways to go. The other end of the problem is that since the vast majority of people are not interested in MP (either because they simply don't care, or the afforementioned issues put them off) it appears to the developers that this is a low priority issue. And then the loop is closed.. Fortunately due to heavy community involvement now we have some more emphasis put on MP and it definitely had a big impact on how it is. Hopefully this will continue :) Based on previous updates I'd expect 2.5 MP to be a rough start but I'm sure they'll make it work. Screw it, who cares anyway, to hell with those triangle mountains. :megalol:
  4. Maybe. I also saw a R-73 slaloming behind IronMike in SATAC.. :D I think the key factor is whether it has such target memory even IRL. In that scenario the seeker is definitely outside FoV limits. It might be a possibility to intercept to last known point like the slammer does in reality. This is especially applicable to my case where I was more or less in a steady high G pull so whatever was calculated initially is still fairly close to where the plane was when the missile came around.
  5. To be honest the game would be too dull without these random stuff that make you actually fall off the chair laughing when you realize what happened :D
  6. You have a 45 degree off bore capability with the standard helmet sight modeled in DCS. I'll let you be the judge whether that was within in the scenario. From my perspective the missile was launched from the 3/9 line or past it, not to mention it was way within rMin considering the angle. What's kind of interesting is that the missile itself seems to have some form of memory track because it kept pulling even when the target was waaaaaaaay outside the FoV. That or we're still playing with the legacy b.s. FoV :D 9X might be able to pull off something like this. Other than that, as everyone knows.. karma is a ... :megalol:
  7. You've seen nothing until this happens to you: https://youtu.be/s_cxnl2KNGM?t=10111 :D
  8. Goddamit.. if only I had my PC. Feelsbad
  9. I always thought side stick setups are awful and unnatural. It's much more comfortable and relaxed to hold your arm close to your center mass instead of leaning it off to the side. In my opinion it's also significantly easier to precisely move the stick this way. Having the stick perfectly aligned with the movement axes is also nice. Besides RSI due to this is nothing compared to what their neck experiences under sever 9G ACM exposure. :D
  10. To me the fact that it has a nice center stick mount and another mount to have the stick is perfect. Although I'm still worried the stick mount is a little too far forward, we'll see. My #1 gripe is that my current seat is uncomfortable as hell for flying and my #2 is that I need a 5 minute logistic tour to setup or unsetup my flight gear. My hope is that this will be comfy for normal gaming and flying while my keyboard / mouse will stay on the desk and the permanently mounted flight gear will hopefully not disturb either. Having HOTAS on the table is absolute no go for me, and should be for anyone. It is a complete nightmare for your health. I won't even settle for a side stick config, also incredibly uncomfortable and unintuitive (especially with a Warthog ). They passed it to DHL yesterday so it should be here anytime within the next 2 weeks. Hopefully it'll be comfy in every way possible. If not I'll have to mod it a bit :D
  11. It depends. I needed something that can fit under my desk, can be used for sim and all types of other games aswell as watching movies etc. The speedmaster seat is modular and you can dismantle the front and only have the chair. I asked for the dimensions from their support and based on that it should fit comfortably under my place, and the chair has a sliding function so getting in and out should in theory not be a problem. I say in theory because you never quite know how a product works out until you get it. Unfortunately no possibility to try it out with this, but IMO it's good enough to make the "gamble" worthwhile. The obutto looks super uncomfortable for anything other than sim / racing. I can't imagine playing any FPS on such a setup or any other genre in general. No arm rests, hell not even your lower arm is able to rest on anything from what it looks like. That's just straight up horrible.
  12. Finally the new version of this bad boy is out: https://speedmasterseats.de/speedmaster-flight/ just ordered it, can't wait. My wallet hurts for sure though :D
  13. Guess I'm not going to upgrade from 16 to 32 anytime soon. :megalol:
  14. With TARGET or AHK or similar software you can do almost anything you can imagine. I was experimenting with timed chaff sequences.. but I haven't actually gone through testing their effectiveness. Although to me it's more about not having to continously spam some button on the HOTAS, there are far better things to do in the heat.
  15. The real killer is that turning hot / cold almost always drops any and all TWS bugs you have because there is no TWS memory. This makes recommitting at close range on a guy who's chasing you ludicrously powerful and the only counters are going STT before it happens, using AAQ or FLOOD in some rare cases. I also noticed sometimes AAQ can throw away the lock if you're trying to pull too much lead for a close SRM shot, not sure if this is realistic or not, but it's certainly annoying because in a lot of cases where if you're not far ahead of the cue the missile will never be able to turn enough. This doesn't happen too often though.
  16. Congrats to all and GL further! S!
  17. Easy, every time you spawn you'll also spawn yourself a new carrier and nobody else will see it so they can't land on it. You could even make it follow you. Would be interesting to see a Nimitz ran aground on top of the inguri dam operating as an airbase.:megalol:
  18. In my opinion this rotating weapon era provides the biggest challenge and balance at the same time. One round the Eagles have a slight edge and then the other way around. I suppose the baguettes are outlaws but then again with 2+2 missiles will prove hard to win a battle. Certainly not impossible though. The potential infinite matches can be a problem, but it also adds another element to the competition: who can consistently perform even after hours of fighting. You can't always K.O. the opponent, sometimes you have to go through all 12 rounds.
  19. https://clips.twitch.tv/CrowdedCreativeSquirrelArsonNoSexy How to defeat Archers :megalol: This is just downright hilarious looking back. Although to be honest I had no idea the guy was there, even after dodging the 2nd missile I didn't know, or atleast not how close he was. Then AWACS called 1 mile on me. Then I tried to fight but it didn't work. Anyway, I still think running was the right call there, if the timing was a few seconds earlier I could've lived.
  20. IIRC you have to turn on Vsync too, otherwise it doesn't work. Or atleast that's what I've read.. I don't recall ever trying without Vsync, so now I'm curious. I have the Predator, but it should work the same.
  21. Like the slider on the TM throttle? That said, still makes no sense.
  22. Plenty of things you can do from 60 miles. For instance you can start building an energy advantage, sadly in DCS this is nowhere as powerful as it should be. If you have a wingman you can set up ambushes, it's not that hard to stay hidden from the target for one element while the other keeps tabs. If you're in a 1v1 you can predict a flight path based on current status and mission objectives and set yourself up for an ambush. If you're not permanently scanning out you can make it so that with a bit of luck you have first look and then can drop off the grid before he can see you too. Obviously this relies on some lucky timing and can work vice versa.
  23. Preparation is half of the battle.
  24. You misunderstand how the VSD works. TDC can affect your azimuth angle if you're in narrow scan (+-30) RWS or TWS, but it won't affect the elevation ever. The elevation you can only control by the elevation control itself. The altitude numbers on the VSD explain what altitudes you're covering where the TDC is. Obviously the further out it is the larger it'll be. In general the radar is pretty reliable in the 15. It can take some nerves to wait until a zone is fully scanned in the middle of the heat though. Sometimes you end up looking everywhere and still not seeing the guy because you weren't patient enough.
  25. Frostie :megalol: You might be looking at the impact timer. It's also most likely that it's someone else hitting you, not the ones you're looking at. You should get tacview, offline you won't even have to bother with replaying tracks as I think it'll just record it on the fly. Until then it's hard to say what is or isn't happening.
