  2. If you have to have FC3 fighters on a server, this is how you do it! More fun for all sides, look at when the Blue Flag event did this!
  3. So in other words, we should get this on RAZBAM's Mirage too? Would I be right in assuming this is what allows the F-15 to ID aircraft type it has locked up? (IE SU-27, KC-135 etc?)
  4. IIRC model visibility is set to ENLARGED by the server. It is awesome fun, even if some of the MIRAGE pilots seem very new to combat sims. (Most Mirage pilots ATM won't respond to simple RAYGUN calls. Hell, at one point my flight lead got railed by another Mirage's magic while RTB, even after we locked him and called RAYGUN. Twice...) And it does not help that ATM "21" on RWR is actually the Mirage, and "UK" is the MiG. The Mirages v MiGs server is great fun now, but after the 530/550 fixes, IFF and radar antenna slew are implemented, it will be a different story. But love it right now when flying as either side!
  5. I still think that paid maps will be bad in the long run, at least for multiplayer. Only the Black Sea will ever get used, as most people will not buy ALL the maps available. -Black Sea (FREE) -Nevada -Straits of Hormuz -Normandy 1944 -Iwo Jima -Okinawa -Unannounced Viggen map -Unannounced Tomcat map You can see how MP is going to be massively fragmented. Honestly the way LNS is going to do it seems like the best way(Bundled with aircraft). Standalone maps are going to become a progressively tougher sell in the future, so knowing that players who have the Viggen for example have a certain map, means mission designers can plan missions around it.

    I think we all agree on that!:D If we can convince ED of this it would be great, but given how hard it is to find solid numbers on this kind of stuff, is it even possible? It seems like IASGATG and Sedenion's findings are as close as we can get right now.

    Sounds more like the 530D has a better seeker then the AIM7F/M and similar flight performance, but is more expensive per missile leading to less users.

    You would think that drag would be the easiest thing to work out, given dimensions/shapes of missiles are nearly all publicly available, but even if we could convince them they are wrong, they will pull the "but it works at 40K ft+ and would overperform if we fix it for lower alts!" card. I get that doing this stuff is hard, and ED likely has lots of documents for various missiles, but there is no way on earth the Super 530D has more drag than an AIM-54. It sounds like they fudged the numbers in sim to meet the rough specs of the 530 to me. I trust IASGATG on this one, he has clearly spent a LOT of time researching this stuff. (just check out the missile mod!) Although I am sure you know that GG!:D

    That sounds like fixing that would solve most of the issues we are seeing discussed here. The question is how long ED are going to take to fix this. They have been incredibly slow when it comes to missile fixes, just look how long we have had the "missile guidance" issues...

  15. This. If you disable the FBW fully, you will black out and crash. SPIN switch is an override, not disable.

  17. Not only that, they provided a list of stuff that would not work BEFORE it released. They have been perfectly clear and open with us. It is on the customer if they buy something without researching it first. While I do think we should have less "Beta" releases as a whole, this is the first 4th Gen DCS fighter, and even in its current state is more finished than the hawk has ever been. Sure it is no MiG-21 yet, but It has a lot of potential from an experienced Dev.
  18. They are doing the GR7/GR9 Harrier next. Also it does come across as a little forward suggesting they upgrade something that is still early beta to a later model. Also note that finding info about the 2000C was incredibly difficult, especially radar, which IIRC came from the KGB archives. Therefore doing a 2000-5 would be likely impossible to DCS level due to classification. EDIT: Sniped, by Zeus no less!

  22. Last DCS 2.0 patch notes were posted 14:55 and 15:57. Just really want to see this today, as I am sure we all do.:D
  23. 1600 in Moscow now, and we don't even have patch notes yet. Would be a shame to miss yet another date ED...
