Squeeze a little more performance out of DCS...

and that's a don't bother: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/crysis-3-vram-disk-benchmarks -
Excellent, thanks for the update BN.

Lost my rudder on external model do to a collision but pushing rudder pedals continued to have full rudder effect. Plane behaved like it lost the forward non-movable vertical stabilizer and was less stable in yaw. Something is amiss. Please check...super hard to reproduce obviously...but someone might look at the code.

And still there after the patch today....wtf??? -
Just watching a trak mission replay from Lomac (flaming cliffs) 1.11. up on youtube circa 2005. It's amazing how much of the sim survives through to today (clouds, smoke stack effect, lod pop for various types of objects, wingman AI or lack there of, even HMCS on the A10A, A10 Hud graphics etc...). I can remember vividly the first time ED added a shadows option...enabling shadows on your exterior weapons brought everything to a crawl. For the time, that game version was amazing for what it did do and we overlooked the issues mentioned above...now 15 years on, seeing the same stuff sort of leaves you feeling like a fool for paying for the same problems like 20 times over.

Still there, still deleting... -
...yep. Along with the tech ED is beginning to include already (volumetric shadows, SSLR and cockpit illumination, water transparency and reflections), we can only hope that someday they will be able to get rid of the crappy carton color flatness of the terrain and add some wonderful weather al la MS Flightsim. DLSS makes these fps hungry enhancements possible now. Get on it ED!
-
...and don't say it's already in there as supersampling. I made that mistake, DLSS is not supersampling, go check Nvidia's papers on it...it's freaky AI coolness. I'm drinking the cool-aid. Also, lots in earlier threads about it being proprietary but both AMD and Nvidia will have versions and VR was originally proprietary too. ED pivoted on VR and enabled it expeditiously...one can only hope.

I definitely will be upgrading to the new 3090 or even a new Titan, but it will be in conjunction with a whole new box: Reverb G2, 10900K, Titan or 3090, pcie4.0 ssd, 64 GB DDR4 4400, 4k oled 48in monitor, more power...etc... It's all generational changes. I can't wait. PS I've been delightfully surprised by the steady progress being made in the core DCS game, stuff is finally getting fixed afters years...

+1 Aurelius. People, SLI/crossfire + DCS is a no go...let's not keep beating the dead horse. Maybe with the new generation of intel chips, coupled with the Nvidia 3090, we might get 30fps again on a decently complicated mission in VR (crossing both fingers)...at least on the old Caucus's map. Of course, they'll add something much needed like "improved" AI or "improved" pathfinding or "improved" SSLR, and we'll be back to sub 20fps which seems like it may be a standard considering the stutterfest that is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 even in flat world 2d.

****UPDATE**** Write-caching should be enabled by default--leave it that way.

Pushing stick forward even slightly causes g-lock (instant black out with no recovery). Shouldn't the negative g effect be a gradual red out?

@M1Combat yep, thanks for that...been deleting, and BigNewy has reported. Hoping they do fix this along with many of the other visual anomalies in VR. -

I don't think I can show this with a an image but I'll try to describe how to reproduce: Using Rift S: Pause game when you have a contrail or smoke trail or clouds visible. Tilt head left and right. Clouds, contrails, and smoke textures all rotate strangely with your head.

Still there after update 2.5.6.50979. -
This very disorienting image is being projected right in front of view. What the hell is it, and can we get rid of it please? In vr each eye sees it differently which makes me want to vomit. This is apparent at night with gamma settings above 1.3.

...and it's getting hot around here, hot fixes for hot fixes. From all the humor surrounding this, it seems we have moved from the "I'm hurt and angry" stage to the "lets go to counseling and learn to communicate" stage and moved quickly to "this is actually comical in a messed up way" stage. Unfortunately, standing behind curtain #2 is the "Can I have my records back? I don't care anymore. I've moved on" stage. BTW whatever happened to Kate???

I'd like to see some labeling in regards to patches. I'd suggest something like: Features update: adds new features for testing in open beta only Stability update: squashes bugs, restores core functionality, improves performance With so many core functions broken, maybe just maybe, it's time for a moratorium on new features and an all hands on deck bug squashing mission.

Do you have a hotas axis mapped to the zoom? I believe what you are seeing is noise in the controller sensor. If so, search the DCS input forum for custom controller curves that essentially create a step function for zoom so that within given range input you get the same value of zoom. I think I set mine up with 5 levels of zoom.
