Erratic Frame Rate In Some Views - Smoke, Clouds, Airport
siipperi replied to Worrazen's topic in Game Performance
I would say mid range fps is around 50fps since if your average fps is around 40 it often means it dips quite low too often. High end computer FPS should be well around 100, if not it means game is poorly optimized in most cases, I haven't really seen game after crysis (when GPUs were still a bit underwhelming) that could justice having bad fps on high end machine. Really the point is that sims often have optimizing problems since they are running on the old engine and too much "stuff" on the background (AI units for example). If my computer is in the end of lifecycle I just turn off AA, post processing effects, and so on. I have no idea where forum people have gotten this thinking that they have over 120fps in DCS. Do they just play A10, or do they even play DCS atm? Almost all other modules suffers heavy FPS drops in multiple ways. I have heavily overclocked GTX 670, sure not the newest and best GPU out there but it suffers same fps drops than most people get, and clearly problem is in the smoke/clouds/ground. I expect EDGE to solve this however and happy camper until then. -

Why would you use trackclip pro? Only issues I have with TIR is really the fov. Sure you could tape wiimot on your head but I personally like what TIR offers. Its reliable. Next upgrade for me is however oculus rift.

Does that have AFM? Getting out of Georgia is tempting though.

Im only offended by the ignorance. And don't live there or have any connections there so nothing personal. But what I meant by my comment people need to put that into perspective before starting argument on something silly like that. Area would need extremely high amount of buildings (even if generic) and roads compared to anything we have now. But all good. Think people!

Just an answer really to take part of the discussion that have been going on for few pages: I find it ridiculous that people are comparing nevada small area that they are developing to absolutely ridiculously huge area some people suggested and comparing that all the middle east is desert. Well lets me put this into a perspective using map that were used earlier ( http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/zz218/paulrkiii/NewMapWish_zps2936ea47.png~original ) Nevada as a state have total population around 2.7 million, meanwhile area that was used covers multiple countries and could potentially cover over 100 million people living there. But the argument that you don't need to cover rural areas as accurate as city areas - totally agree, that would be huge waste of time and as ED have stated they aren't trying to make 1:1 representation of cities or towns. However that area covers cities such as Kuwait City, Tehran, Baghdad, Damascus and so on that are superior on size compared to Las Vegas. I find comments here on forums extremely generalizing against Middle East countries and most of people make comment just based of their view of one area meanwhile ignoring totally urban areas. Don't want to offend people but I think many people have really narrow view what kind of area Middle East really is. That said I think most if not all people would love to see that kind of map in DCS but is it realistic even with lower fidelity than Nevada is going to be? I don't think so. Amount of Work one single big capital on that area would require from ED would be more than doing huge parts of Nevada map. About possible F/A 18C map: So it sounds its truly going to be Persian Gulf. That sounds extremely good and taking to account that ED already have said you can project maps and clip them together I don't see any reason why they wouldn't expand that map in the future. That said I take 300x300 area that can be linked together every year than wait for huge 1500x1500km map every 5 years.

Not interested in trainer aircraft in sims but hopefully this benefits other modules (F/A 18D anyone? :music_whistling: )

*wants trailer 2 to be longer* ;) Can't wait. Steam release still october 1st?

Hopefully, now it just covers everything and doesn't have really anything that would represent natural or human made field. In other words plain and ugly but graphics and that's sadly what most just look from it.... Add all kind of bushes, plants etc and suprise it looks a lot better.

Exactly, people assume too often that all Asian countries are similar to each other. Not to mentioning totally different topography those countries have. desert - Middle-East jungle - Asia Sadly it goes like this too often. +1 to Persian Gulf.

CBA to go few pages back and check if this has been posted... http://store.steampowered.com/app/316964 Good looking Steam page.

Sounds exactly like majority of the map will be water so one would expect it's pretty fast to build up. Now we must just figure out which part of the sea they are going to model. :D

YES! YES! So excited about this!!! Current system is one of worst I have seen on the gaming market. Hopefully we get settings options for multiplayer to go up with this! Not that excited about L39 because for me personally I don't see reason to fly a trainer in the game but happy for people who are into his kind of stuff. Wondering if patriots team and ED are making cooperation between their modules. 2 seat capability is another major step forward and glad to hear about it. About the Hornet - Well don't know if those screenshots are recent but work on the cockpit seems still much WIP, hopefully system simulation etc is well on its way and we can enjoy Hornet on 2014 or early 2015. Thanks, one of best updates ever. Too bad you couldn't give us estimate date for the Hornet or place where the theatre map takes the place. :music_whistling:

+1 for all Nordic countries.

That is valid criticism and good points. If company can't take constructive feedback maybe they just should stop working on the game. Always isn't the best thing to but your fan classes on and say everything is perfect. Feedback from fans can be really important for them to see what people like to see in the game that dev team didn't even think of. Just because someone isn't agreeing with you doesn't mean he's wrong. IMO he made good points though those might be hard to include in the game.

Yeah, that is annoying.. Reaction time of AI seriously needs some nerffing... Even if you are totally ready to move on slightest thread in RL you simply dont reach that quickly, not to mentioning if they have engine off. Not sure if AI even turns the engine off but reaction time should be around 4-5 seconds when engine is running and over 10 if not.

Looks truly stunning. I would hope they would add more variety to grass. Make small bushes and so on. Would be truly epic to have grain plants on the fields to make them more immerse. I hope ED can/is already have team that is just working on land-modules, that looks so exciting.
