Ka-50N with R-73 and Igla missile capabilities.

Its just an FPS engine with flight simulation stuck in. What i've been waiting years for now. Where Arma engine have finally failed, this is what needs to take it up.

THIS!

Its all an evil monopoly. Bring back Paradise, Trident, and Hercules!

I approve of this video war!

Yeah, except kids these days mostly aren't willing to spend (especially in America, which is getting poorer and poorer ) what you really need to enjoy this game. I myself play with an old RC controller that I can hook to a PC. Can't afford a HOTAS or even TrackIr. I fall pretty much into the majority of gamers. That, and then you have the majority who would rather get into Battlefield or even Arma 3 then be stuck with only flightsim. To lure in more people, the sim really needs "ground" simulation as well. You come in from Arma or even Battlefield and look at the ground, and you think "bleh". It looks decent from high up, but at low level hell in a heli, it looks like something from the 90's. And knowing DCS since Black Shark released, I'm guessing, yeah, it'll probably be two years till the Hornet also. EDGE still being a few months away is also a pretty good guess.

Parasail breaks up math functions into multiple threads just fine. Whatever it does, its being written by a guy who knows what he's doing. And besides, there are already multi-core engines made and being made. The problem here is that a new multi-core engine will probably have to be made from scratch. That is why companies try to keep boosting their ancient engines. But as you can obviously see in the Arma engine, it reached its limit - online fps scores of 10 to 20 fps. Unplayable. As for the DCS engine, we'll see what EDGE can do.

Mmm, yeah. Not impressed. I've played around with one the X-65 sticks over at Fry's and the buttons felt like they were just barely stuck on. Very cheap feel. Now it looks like they've cut out even more. Good stick for beginners but I think I'll keep looking at the Thrustmaster.

Oh, I know some programming. And yeah, I know how hard it will be make an engine that can use multiple cores. You'll basically have to start over. But there have been multicore using engines made now ( Outerra, for one. ). And there is a multicore - scaling language called Parasail being developed now. When the compiler compiles the language, it automatically divides up functions, etc. into multiple threads going to multiple cores. In the near future, all the new engines will be multi-core. Anything that isn't will be considered a dinosaur. And personally, when I see one of my cores about ready to explode, and the rest just sitting there, it makes me want to scream.
-
Hopefully, it and EDGE are coming soon.
-
Eh, no. Unless this new engine has multi-core spanning, its just a crutch good for a year or two at best. In 10 years, we'll have 60 core CPU's. No one will tolerate an engine that can run on only one. We can barely tolerate it now.

This. Yes. We are a dying breed. Most young kids these days are not into flight sims. They're into FPS with aircraft. Battlefield. Arma. They will soon wipe out even our little niche. If you want to survive, we need better looking maps and landscapes with the ability for human controlled ground forces. Basically Arma. This will bring in more players and thus more money. Arma's dying anyway. They've pissed off their community over and over, and now I think Arma 3's bugs and horribleness in general is the final straw for BI. Not only that, BI doesn't seem to want to deal with Arma anymore. I think it is going to be the last Arma. They're all into DayZ and Wasteland now. So here is EDs chance to gain all the Arma players as customers. Make a new Arma ( basically, just put in a much better terrain, playable infantry, and driveable vehicles ). Yeah, our map is a LOT bigger, but this is what the new gen want, and will let us old guys keep our precious flight sims. We might even be able to convert a few kids over to learning to fly. ESPECIALLY AFTER WE BLOW THE SHIT OUT OF THEM ON THE GROUND! :music_whistling::devil:

Were not using dx 11, yet. Supposedly, EDGE will bring dx 11 into play. Right now, I would say the biggest bottleneck is dx9, because it is limited to about 500 draw calls / sec. Dx 11 has a lot better organization, allowing more draw calls. I don't know if EDGE will allow multi-cpu scaling or not, but I think that is a HUGE thing that needs to be implemented. Computers can have up to 16 cores these days if you use a server motherboard. Even some "normal" computers have 6 to 8 cores.

Yeah, like Vize says, my joystick throttle doesn't work for startup at all, so I have to do it using the keyboard. Then to work the throttles seperately, use the +/- throttle keys. After you get it all started up, then you can go back to your "single" joystick throttle, which will move them both at once.

As far as I can see, what were up against are Ancient Engine issues. Its no longer CPUs and GPUs that are stopping us, its these old engines that DCS, Arma, and a couple of other sims are still using. Without being able to use all the CPU cores, and unloading everything possible to the GPUs, were being bottle necked. I very much want to see what EDGE is going to bring to the table. Until then, we can say we want, we want, we want, but the old engine just can't push it. It can't utilize all the modern hardware.

A-10C, much more vulnerable than it sounds to be ...
Dr. Yes replied to Hueyman's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Huh, I didn't know that. I always wondered how to get some of the pages on the other MFD. -
Lol, was about to say, I don't think that small printer could manage that. :p Pretty neat though. I know that the newer 3d metal printers ( which cost a king's ransom ) just managed to print out a whole .45 caliber automatic pistol. They've put 50 rounds through it now and its still holding up. Tech is getting really interesting!

S-8KOM is 80mm HEAT. ~ 400mm RHA penetration? Plus angle? Back of an M1 and maybe the lower side. Should be used for APC / IFV. Why them make Mavericks / вихрь's
-
Hmm, I don't fly the Su-25, but its part of the Flaming Cliffs line. Not as detailed as the DCS aircraft like the Warthog and Black Shark. Its also a freebie with world, so you kind of get what you get. If you want something cool that's like the Su-25, but flies a lot better, buy DCS: Warthog. Very well simulated aircraft.

I think their aiming this thing more at Star Citizen than us. Still, even Star Citizen could make use of a dual trigger. No dual trigger is a real game killer for me. Guess I'll keep dreaming about a Warthog.
-
Oh yeah, I know. Everything takes time. I just get frustrated. Sorry if I upset anybody. Really looking forward to EDGE and a good terrain / map editor to see what can be done. What all games really need now though is multi-cpu scaling engines. And believe me! ( I do program some ) I do know how hard that is! There is only one compiler out there right now that does it for you automatically and its just in alpha. Its called Parasail. Outerra is about the only engine I've seen claim to be able to multiscale. And of course, ED needs to move everything they can to the GPU which is much more powerful than the CPU as was meant to do the grunt work. Hopefully EDGE was made to do this, seeing as its the new rendering engine.
-
Yeah, the CH stick is nice but I've always hated their throttle. It would be nice to be able to buy the Saitek throttle alone.
-
I agree! That is just plain ****ing STUPID! not to put in a dual stage trigger! Someone needs to be fired!
-
No, wouldn't make my kind happy. Were looking for FPS.
