"Opposition defends Joint Strike Fighter over simulated dogfights"

The Su-34 is a Strike aircraft with a potent AA capability. It's also intended to replace the Su-24 which implies a more tactical task for the aircraft (Su-24 is not like the F-111, despite the likeness. The Su-24 is a Tactical bomber, much like the F-15E, but old and without AA). Now the Su-34 has the range to perform som Stratigically oriented task as well, but the F-15E vs Su-34 is still a legit comparisment. Su-30Mk would probably be a closer match though, but Su-34 is in there in the same class. my 2 cents -
I just find the Sad News comment funny, since this has happened every now and then the last three year. We do not help ourself by sealing us in (EU). Cooperation is the future...

Well, it's only for some months. As read in the article, ALL NATO countries are rotating the duty, and now it's US turn (again). Honestly, I dont see this being "in the way" for closer relations in the EU...

The MiG-31 uses a PESA radar ;) Dont confuse yourself. I agree though, that Russia is lagging behind in technology. MiG-35 and Su-35 are very advanced planes, but they have yet to enter production, not to mention PAK-FA... -

Gothenburg (Sweden) AeroShow 2008, mostly old stuff, but the Gripen was also there :) Here's some of the pics I took. A Swedish "Tiger Moth", landing after a Overhead pattern JAS 39B "Gripen" and some of its weapons Single-seat "Gripen" J 29 "Flying Barrel" SAR Helicopter, simulating a rescue :) One of the few Russian planes at the Airshow, Yak-55 Hawker "Hunter" With 4 x 30mm cannons Saab J 32 "Lansen" And a nice "Mustang". Spitfire was also present, but I didn't get a good shot of it. "Gripen" taxing out for its display :) Tight turn with AB active :) Doing the standard high-alpha/low-speed pass. The speed is at 180kph ;) Pilot waving after the show :D Hope you enjoyed them! :) Cheers
