Joystick "Black Mamba" from VKB FSC Europe
Bourrinopathe replied to Flagrum's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Absolutely. You could even use the two triggers for the gun and the AA missiles. As far as I know, the NJoy32 PRO controller can manage up to 128 buttons and 8 axis and VKB have planned to produce a control panel for the Black Mamba. Axis parameters Buttons configuration -
I used the Extreme 3D Pro for about 12 months. Great joystick. Now it's a much more expensive and efficient solution: X-55 throttle and a VKB Black Mamba. And it's possible to use three modes on both (activated separately). You could also use a cheaper headtracking solution with a DelanClip, a PS3 Eye and OpenTrack. It's very precise and efficient. The VKB Black Mamba is a pure jewel but I can't be objective ;) (consider the high-precision metal gimbal with magneto-resistive sensors (D-MaRS))

Joystick "Black Mamba" from VKB FSC Europe
Bourrinopathe replied to Flagrum's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I received my order a few days ago : It's hard to be objective at that point and I don't have any experience with the Warthog. All I could share is that this stick has an astonishing precision (250Hz polling frequency with the 0,02° D-MaRS sensors precision). The central position of each axis is noticeable (slight mechanic resistance) and thus it's possible to move an axis while keeping the other one at the neutral position. I only flew the Su-27 (PFM) and it's a fantastic feeling made of control and smoothness. The default central deadzone is set to 0,3% (!) and it's perfectly stable. The programming software (NJoy32 PRO) has a pretty high level of complexity and grants access to numerous parameters. I'm still discovering its capabilities. The stick itself is made of decent plastics with a soft coating. It doesn't feel as cheap as my X-55 throttle ;) Imo it lacks a thumb button/hat but the ergonomics and general feeling are great (russian-style). A modern metal stick is in development. The build quality is impeccable and the anodized aluminium feels very resistant. What I particularly like with that stick is that it clearly aims for a very high level of precision, efficiency and longevity with a scalable solution tailored to a range of different requirements (stick interchangeability, extender, combined rudder pedals, etc.). (and it's a perfect fit with the Su-27 ) I'd like to add that the VKB team has been very helpful, available and efficient in every way. It was a great experience. -
New Video on the Flankertraining YouTube Channel
Bourrinopathe replied to Ironhand's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Thanks for that great video, Rich! The explanations/commentary during the execution is very useful. (The YT compression tends to eat up the HUD tiny details (like the pitch angle)). With the new PFM, the Su-27 is a delight to fly and it's an invitation to test that wonderful aircraft capabilities. I hope we'll see more of your productions! -
Russian flight manual? Hi, Could anyone please point me the way to the russian (Su-27 for DCS World) flight manual? I own the english version (DCS Su-27 Flight Manual EN.pdf) with my FC3 install and I couldn't find anything on the russian forum (and the DCS website) with my limited skills. Using the "Руководство по летной эксплуатации" keywords only achieved to highlight the well known Su-27SK flight manual. I'd like to find specific translations and terms. Thanks! [EDIT]: Support told me the russian manual is WIP and will soon be available. ;)

Ah great! Thanks for the info. Based on the Su-27 screenshots, the AB daylight visibility doesn't seem to be implemented yet. But it's not finished, so there's hope ;)

Hi there, As I’ve had no luck with the search tool, I was wondering if I’ve missed an in-game option to display these updated afterburner effects (showcased on the Su-27 official page) : (I'm using the updated FC3 displaying the classic hard-edges AB GFX) More wonderful in the wonderful would be wonderfuler ;)

Here's the best answer ;) VKB Fat Black Mamba.

They're called скаб (SKAB) and they should be constantly rotating. They're used with the щ-3уМ-1 system (helmet mounted sight) and common to the ИЛС-31 (HUD) (same equipment in the Ka-50). As the mirrored surface suggests, it's an IR optical system. I found some details you can try to translate here (start @ 2.2. Нашлемная система целеуказания НСЦ) Unfortunately, I couldn't find any english documentation on that device. Feel free to share if you have something

I would also be interested as I'm (very) slowly configuring my HOTAS. I own a X-55 throttle and I should get a VKB Black Mamba in a few days. Both with three modes. Here's the early throttle configuration: The green functions are triggered in combination with a modifier button on the stick (Extreme 3D Pro)

I can confirm the same issue using FC3 Su-27 and with or without any mods. DCS World updated an hour ago. The key binding is ok as I can see the lights beam/halo effect on the landing gear, but no light effect on the runway/taxiway. Tested with the start up training mission and a custom training mission with low luminosity (early morning). No idea what's happening here.

Su27 Theme and wallpaper for FC3 users
Bourrinopathe replied to Mainstay's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks! JSGME  -
I have OpenTrack 2.2 installed with the latest released (non-Steam) DCS World (v1.2.11) and every module I own works perfectly with the headtracking. I just installed and configured OpenTrack and connected my three points IR emitter - no file manipulation or anything tricky. And I'm also using the PS3 Eye. Can you confirm you're using OpenTrack 2.2 with the PointTracker 1.1 (Main Tracker) and FreeTrack 2.0 (Game Protocol)? Is your preview video clear and stable? Unless the Steam version has a different configuration, you should be able to use your headtracking without any issue.
-
OpenTrack uses the FreeTrack protocol. It works flawlessly "out of the box". You will have to carefully modify the settings and response curves (mapping). The advantage over FaceTrackNoIR is the Accela mk4 filter (better reactivity/reduced latency). The last stable OpenTrack release is available >>> HERE <<<

Hi there! The beast is in our hands with a wonderful PFM. How delightful! I'm now trying to configure a decent controls profile using a X-55 throttle, an Extreme 3D Pro joystick, Orbweaver (keypad) and equipped with a nice home-made headtracking (OpenTrack). All non-essential system functions would go to the keypad. I need some help in configuring that X-55 throttle using the three modes. The main goal is keep most of the real Su-27 HOTAS inputs as well as providing a dumbproof and comfortable setup (common buttons combinations between modes and such). It's very WIP but I came up with those first modes: (green color: in combination with the joystick modifier button) (pushing the biggest rotary engages the ASC Direct Control, in all modes) Very rough but MODE 1: Combat, MODE 2: navigation, MODE 3: systems/landing/take-off. As you're probably all way more experienced than me in flying the Su-27, I'd like to know if you have a profile with a reference sheet I could check? I'm using a single modifier key on the pretty simple Extreme 3D Pro joystick (I don't own the X-55 joystick as I'm waiting for a VKB Fat Black Mamba). For example: what would be the most important functions I should bind in normal navigation flight (the autopilot (w/ level flight 'panic button), trim and waypoint selections are what I have in mind)? The same goes for the combat mode as I'm not experienced enough to know what the essential functions are. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading ;)

Su-27 instruments functions (?)
Bourrinopathe replied to Bourrinopathe's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
The Su-27 upgrade is here! We can now abuse the direct control switch to bypass the СДУ and pull some cobras in style. I've just noticed Devrim's cockpit english translation, so I'll drop the link >>> HERE <<< as it's a wonderful learning tool. Thanks Devrim! Nicely crafted! The new beta DCS Su-27 manual also contains some useful information. Go grab it ;) (feel free to check the DCS Su-27 thread). PFM!!! -
I don't know about the smoke animation but the shadow cast over it is a rare and delightful feature. The Su-27 + Edge are likely to mass-murder my free time ^^
-
It's great to see a more realistic feel with all these improvements. The pilot body and the new HDD are a great addition. F-15C vs Su-27 both with PFM ! That's a great opportunity, thanks to ED and Belsimtek.
-
That's some solid and exhilarating news! Thanks to ED, the legendary Flanker has been around since 1995! And soon, with a high fidelity flight model? As a free upgrade for FC3? That's fantastic. I hope they'll celebrate that kind of dedication and passion!
-
That's wonderful ! I've never noticed it before, so that's a useful post for me at least ;) Thanks Devrim ! (I didn't test the Mustang yet even if it's ready to take off in my main menu) We'll probably see that feature in the other aircrafts. (I vote to fit that mirrors in the Su-27 as fast as possible too ;) )
-
Great to know it's on the way. Thanks for sharing!

Really interesting engine. These videos don't really show all the features and a high altitude rendering. But still: great details for an helicopter sim! (and of course, 262x262km is smaller than DCS World) If anyone manages to find a video featuring more of this list, please post a link:

1.2.8 OpenBeta is out!! Let's enjoy
Bourrinopathe replied to uboats's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Thanks for sharing! Now landings will be much more interesting! (runway barrel rolls incoming ^^) Did you guys notice something different from the SFM while flying normally? (not on the edges) (better inertia feeling? oscillations/instabilities? …) -
Nice! What are 10 days for a finely polished kick-ass flight model? ;)

Su-27 instruments functions (?)
Bourrinopathe replied to Bourrinopathe's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Thanks! Do you know what are 2, 3 and 4 for? What system/warning/function? E.g. 3 -> "interaction" -> what kind of interaction? Is 4 related to the engine mode selection (combat/training)?
