  1. You would be better getting a case with a gpu vent instead of a window if getting a top end graphics card. Also unless you are going to stick 2 graphics cards into the system for sli/xfire then you wouldn't need a huge case and motherboard with 7 expansion slots. If only going for 1 card, save some cash and get a smaller sized mATX case and motherboard.
  2. Could Bitdefender be doing some sort of auto sandboxing on updater? I get a similar issue with Comodo sandboxing installers and updaters sometimes. Either causing errors or stopping the apps altogether. Running the exe with sandboxing off and problems go away for me. Might be the same in Bitdefender but might it not give warning on screen when something gets put in sandbox..
  3. Hi there, i was wondering if theres any way to make easy quick missions easier lol? Im learning the planes systems slowly by using quick missions but seem to always get attacked within a few seconds of starting. If i start on runway i get a little longer but if start in air i get attacked almost straight away. Ive started using invulnerability while flying around the battlefields so i can concentrate on learning the weapons systems, its handy to be able to stay in the air while fumbling along with the controls and experimenting without getting blown out sky. I thought "easy" would have less technologically advanced enemies on the field but usually when i start i get sams aaa and jets on me within seconds. Is there any way to tone it down a bit so can learn the systems without having to use god mode, atm when using Invuln i end up with 5+ jets tailing me and never ending stream of missiles from the ground. This makes it almost impossible to play for any length of time when not using invuln. Thx for look.
  4. Haha thats about the time i got F-16 Combat Pilot for Spectrum 128k on tape lol. My start to flight sims along with an Apache sim for 128k soon after.
  5. Strange Malwarebytes is flagging it as its a common file. In Windows if you right click the file and goto properties, does it have a MS signing certificate and is valid? Yea something like this happened few years ago with Flame malware forging Windows Update certificates and using them to push malware infections to pc's through Windows Update. This issue was in Windows for 10+ years before MS patched it and anyone that stumbled on it had years of lulz opportunity. Although its a bit silly to not run a A/V since all it take is some dodgy malware infected ad on some site and your pc is infected. Not using Internet Explorer and using an adblocker is probs best way to stay clean but java or flash needed in every browser isnt exactly secure from exploits eiter.
  6. Im using a cheap h61 board with a Via 1705 chip and get no audio lag or clipping. Although i have noticed strange behavior with what drivers are used. I have built 2x computers using the same mobo except friends is a slightly never revision of same thing. I always usually download drivers from Via direct along with other drivers from the makers website. I ran into an issue where my friends sound would sometimes have lag and clip when using same chip and driver versions as myself. Even just the Windows sounds would clip sometimes if system was under load while my almost exact same spec machine never had the issue. Even after downloading older versions of the driver from Via i couldnt get the issue to stop, i tried as a last resort to install the drivers from Asrock for the Via chip and it cleared the issue up straight away. The driver version was the same as one i had already downloaded from Via but idk if ASrock tweak them for specific motherboards or etc etc. It might be worth for those with audio issues to try the motherboard makers version of the drivers instead of downloading direct from Via or Realtek. IVe seen this issue on laptops too with Via and Realtek sound chips direct drivers not working properly.
  7. Haha yea, i probably could have caught it but was 1st shot of new stick and rudder was far too sensitive. It would have been ok if it happened 3m shorter or further down the runway but it had to happen at about the only area you couldnt veer off course without hitting something. I take it the game simulates a flock of birds vs just 1 hit since i got damage on 2 sides of aircraft? Also how are birds simulated throughout the world? Random points floating around in airspace that have a chance of causing damage when you hit them? Or just randomly you have a failure that could be caused by a bird?
  8. Hi there, i was wondering what would have caused an engine to explode on takeoff? I checked the log and although it registered 2 Migs firing R-27R a couple of seconds before hand, there was no target displayed and i recieved no indication of impacts, im pretty sure the planes were miles away as i had just started the sim on the runway. The planes AN/ALE left wing Container and AN/AAR sensor left failed yet the right engine caught fire and lost thrust which barrel rolled me into a dish on the verge of the strip. I have birds set to 100% but thought it would still register on the log if i hoovered one up? Thanks for look.
  9. Yea i ended up swapping the stick for a 16000m as the hotas x still wasnt in stock after being on order for about 2 weeks. The 16000 is in the post under 2 hours after switching order lol. The hotas seemed to have a tiny separation too and i doubt it would have stretched to both sides of my chair without modding, which would wipe out the warranty:(
  10. ah sweet! What would be the best controls to map to the stick and dual stick pad for A-10? Most aircraft controls are fine on the keyboard/stick but what is best for weapons systems or defense? Ill be playing through the campaign for learning so would probs need a variety of things mapped imo. Thanks again.
  11. Sweet. Does dsc allow multiple controllers so could use the 360 controller for other things in game? Well probs a thrustmaster pad as 360 one is useless in anything that doesnt directly support it. Also is the KA 50 as much more complex as the the A 10 as it seems lol? Just printed out the keybindings and quick sheets and about 2x as many for KA 50 vs A 10 haha.
  12. The MiL v-12. Love the caravan curtains in the front.
  13. How does the Pak Fa stack up against the F-35?
  14. Go with Intel if you are going to spend loads on a cpu. Even intel dual core i3 running 30% less speed beats 8 core AMD in almost all games. AMD have about 1/2 the ipc of Intel cores so would be better buying a cpu with 4 fast cores rather than 8 slower cores. This makes lots of difference in games considering most (still) only really support 1 or 2 cores. AMD also use about 2x the power to get slower results and while running at a higher speed, more noise and heat to deal with.
  15. How much do you want to spend? Probably a gfx and memory upgrade would help the most. The cpu you have isnt too far behind AMD newer cpu performance but the GTX 460 is kinda weak for decent fps in games(depending on resolution), another 4GB ram would help too. A r9 270x and 4GB ram would be decent upgrade for under £200.
  16. Modifier keys, do you mean assigning them to ctrl or alt? The stick also has some sort of presets that are programmable, i take it they are for assigning keystrokes to buttons instead of having to change the sticks mapping in the game? I assume its possible to configure and change these profiles in-game so could say set different profiles up for a a2a, a2g, or fight prep, startup and taxi?
  17. Thanks for all the replies, i ordered the T Stick HOTAS. I also had a look at the x52 and found this for £99 http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/pc-accessories/pc-gaming-accessories/game-controllers/saitek-x52-flight-controller-joystick-01064351-pdt.html I thought the Pro was the only one that was silver and its going for only £99 EDIT: never mind, the review i was looking at had the pics the wrong way round.. Thx for help anyways!
  18. Thanks for help guys, just got A10 and BS2 and ordered the T Stick HOTAS. I was also curious about the mission editor, is it possible to create scenarios or dogfights without having to fly to watch? Id spent hours in i think the Lock On editor making huge battles out of all sizes of planes and watch the chaos unfold with the free camera. Damn shame about that F-14, is FSX even supported anymore and was it a decent sim anyways?
  19. Hi there, does anyone know if this Stick and throttle is any good? Ive just bought A 10 and BS2 and was looking to get a mid range stick instead of trying to play using an Xbox pad lol. Is it decent enough quality as it seems to be a lot of equipment for just £30? Thx for look.
  20. Id go with Win 7. Win 8.1 is designed and optimized for tablets and touch and MS moving a load of the systems config into that Xbox looking menu makes changing some options and settings a nightmare, done purely (probably) to up the ad revenue MS gets from every time you use the Start Screen. Theres also all the crap and spam that comes built right into the default Metro apps that have ads on every other page and start streaming ads onto the Start Screen, even doing it in background connecting to ad servers even when never using Metro. Its also impossible to fully disable the Metros sneaking about even when using a Start Menu replacement. Its one of the only things on the Pc that cant be turned off and ends up wasting resources spinning in background even if never used. You can make Win 7 just as fast as Win 8 if you disable 3/4 of the services and use hibernate when you want to shutdown, just like MS did to Win 8. Win 7 was a fixed and optimized Vista. Win 8 is a more optimized Vista again thats also having to multitask with a xbox/phone touch based interface designed as "an ad serving platform", so Balmer said. Im using 8.1 atm but will be going back to Win 7 once i make space for backups. I dont even think id use 8 if the Start menu returned as i dont want that Metro Win RT running non stop in background earning cash for MS ad revenue.
  21. Ah thanks, also is there any plans for a F-14 module in future? Seems a shame nobody has done a decent F-14 sim yet as its a cool big aircraft thats a bit of an animal to be able to fly hard. Would add a bit more tension compared to the safer handling newer planes being able to cartwheel into a hill as the slightest mishandling of the controls..
  22. Ah sweet thanks, will get BS2 and A 10 then. IS online still busy for them and is there a server browser thats usually populated, or can you only join directly to others over the internet with their IP? Im used to big manuals after getting a 2/3 inch thick one with a F-16 sim on the Spectrum 128k lol, the 1st sim i bought along with Apache sim too when a kid, damn 1.3 bit graphics lol. Im also looking onto a flight stick and was wondering if the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas is any good? I dont want anything too fancy and it seems to have everything id need for under £40. Is it solid and reliable enough as it seems to be a lot for not much cash. Thanks again.
  23. Hi there, I had Lock On MAC years ago but lost interest in sims and gaming in general. Now i want to make a start back and the sales mean i can get more than one sim and have a few questions. I was wondering which of the sims has the most aircraft tech/buttons to play with and the most detailed sim and graphics. Im going to buy BS2 and something else but unsure what. The Huey, Mi 8 and A 10 seem older more basic aircraft but does the newer sims offer much improved detail over BS2 to be worth buying 2x helicopter sims? Also, does the Mustang sim have planes of the same era to fight against since it uses the same base game as the rest, and do you see things like wing flex and be able to fly the wings off it? Is the much of a multiplayer community for dcs too and whats the most popular sims for it? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for any help with choosing the other 1 or 2 sims i fancy buying, too much choice but missus wouldnt be too happy if i bought them all lol.
