  1. Just want to thank you for making this. I was having great difficulty trying to figure out a good way to map this joystick.
  2. Thank you. This was very helpful. I've been trying to figure out landing patterns and TACAN's role and the manual just wasn't making sense to me. But now that I've watched this, it all makes perfect sense and I have a much better understanding of how the HSI and TACAN work together. My only concept of using the HSI was in Lockon, which I now realize was completely dumbed down. I had no concept that the HSI didn't auto update or align itself when I switched from wp mode to landing mode using the tilde key. And I just now realize it was because this is how the HSI and TACAN actually work as opposed to the simplified version in Lockon. Thanks again, this really cleared up a lot more then just landing pattern for me.
  3. Thank you very much for this!
  4. I'm interested in tracks as well. I'd much rather view tracks then videos as it is much more interactive then videos. (ie. I can pause and look around to view a particular scenario from many different vantage points) I would love a stickied thread for the sole purpose of adding tracks to view. I know the DCS website has the user files section, but there is currently only one track uploaded. Currently I just browse through the forums trying to locate tracks that have been attached. Very tedious business.
  5. @Avilator Thank you. Here we go, this is what I was looking for. MILSTD and MILSPECs = Exactly what I've been searching for but didn't know existed.
  6. That was the missing piece. The moment you mentioned it I knew exactly how to refine my searches. Thank you.
  7. Fantastic! Thank you KLaFaille. This is all I need as I can figure out the rest with this. I was having great trouble tracking down dimensions as my knowledge of these things is very small. I was not even aware of the MILSTD. It makes perfect sense, but the thought just never entered my mind.
  8. Not sure if previous versions of the sim were different, but in 1.1.0.7, you will find the .lua file for the GP-Wiz in a different place than the instructions. It can be found here: C:\Users\"YourName"\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Config\Input\A-10C\joystick Follow the instructions in the videos and enjoy! In the future as you progress down this wonderful path, you will find the search functions in windows to be a valuable tool to learn how to use. I don't intend this to be sarcastic in the least. You'll learn as you go and one frustrating thing is not being able to find the location of stuff on your computer. This will atleast solve that problem for you.
  9. I have a question about the dimensions of the Tacan. I looked through the thread and found the dimensions of the HSI and am wondering if the Tacan is the same width as the HSI at 5.0"? Would you be willing to measure the height and thickness of the face plate as well as the width of the rear enclosure? Since you have the real thing, I would like to use these measurements as my reference point for the rest of the cockpit and go from there. The stuff in this thread is gold! Thank you for posting, some incredible stuff here.
  10. Thanks Nate. I have the same stick as OP and been having a hard time figuring out how to best configure it. This gives me a great starting point. Razi
  11. Wow that is great! I love the idea over all and am glad you showed those pictures in that state, because that gives me some great ideas for my pit.
  12. You need to counter sink the switch. He is using fairly thin ABS plastic so counter sinking it not possible, so his switches do rest on top of the abs. You could use thicker wood and counter sink the holes or you could build a layer underneath the top ABS layer which the switch is mounted to and then the top piece would fit over top. Hopefully some of this makes sense and is helpful. Razi
  13. On this topic, is their a way to export HUD data, say in an attempt to recreate a HUD? I need to study lua export as at the moment I only know about optics and electronics (my background) but nothing of lua scripting. I simply am trying to find out if this is a possible project to undertake. Razi
  14. Hello, I'm going to follow this and attempt to create virtually an identical panel to start with and this is very helpful. I would like to try and use the same sized, or as close to, switches as in the real cockpit. Does anyone have a rough estimation of the size of the switches on the electrical panel? I see that there are 2 larger ones and 4 smaller ones. The dimensions of the lever are what I think are most important. If no one really knows, I'm fine with just guessing myself. I'm thinking the big ones are 3/4" - 1" and the small ones around 1/2" - 3/4".
  15. @MTFDarkEagle I did. One looks like it is bought, but regardless is out of my price range (its listed at $500+) and all the others are sold with one waiting for a response to see if it is still available.
  16. Nevermind. Change of Plans.
  17. Ah, now I can see Kuky's pics, thanks, nice pit! I am planning on building a similar pit to yours and a few others here, but much more basic :)
  18. Amazing flying and pictures! I can't even imagine myself flying formation like that.
  19. Very Nice DPS, great vid, very nicely done.
  20. Some great setup ideas here! Loving this thread. I'm in the middle of planning my cockpit right now and all these great cockpits are giving me some great help. I keep hearing about Kuky's cockpit, however the pictures he posted are not showing up on the forums for me. Just big red X's, I would love to see his.
  21. Great to hear an update! Like everyone else has said, take your time! I'm always very disappointed when a game is prematurely released, some times for legit reason sometimes not, either way its always disappointing.
  22. I really appreciate ED's games and their work and I'm really grateful that they persist in making flight sims and continue to support and make expansions. Last thing I want is for another developer to drop out of the flight sim genre. So I'm very happy to even just hear of options for the future. I saw the F-18A or C mentioned and I would love to be able to fly that bird in a well crafted sim, beit in an expansion or a completely serperate game, it doesn't matter to me. Being Canadian, I would love to have a chance to fly the birds that my country has in service. Apart from that the A-10A also interests me, as I've really enjoyed flying it in Lockon as is. Side note: if anyone knows of an F-18 sim they would recommend, I would love hear about it.
  23. Aye, thank you lo-fi. The A-10 is my primary bird at the moment and any improvements to it are most welcome.
  24. Thanks Ice! I've been looking for tracks to view as well.
