Alert 5 aircraft were prealigned and chained down on the cat with ground power, electrical power and I think the sins cable attached at all times. If they had to launch they only had to fire up the plane and do the stored heading align. Alert 15 and alert 30 were parked on deck and preflight checked but we're otherwise left cold and dark. I'm working off of memory from what I was told by a squadron mate so my info may not be 100%.

Have jester select it in the ground ordinance menu, master arm on, AG mode and hit the pickle button. It will release from the bottom of your jet and glide on the heading you released it on. You can release multiple depending on your ripple settings.

Are you right clicking to lower your gear? Right clicking lowers the gear in emergency mode locks them down permanently and disables nose wheel steering.

Apparently the early LANTIRN would overheat and explode if used at too high of an altitude and take the wing it was mounted to with it.

pilot position too advanced in vr oculus rift
Zeroskills replied to bozflyer's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
The pilot wears a lot of gear, survival vest, harness, parachute, ect. That stuff takes up room, but I have no idea if it takes up enough room to account for the gap I can see between my real body and the seat back. At a rough guess it looks like I have about 8"-10" of room between where my phisical back is in real life to where the seat back is in VR. -

The new view position never saves for me, it always resets to the original default when I get in a new plane. -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
Zeroskills replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I gave this a shot. Resolution seemed better and the frame rate seemed the same, but I definatly have the weird artifacts around the edge of my vision now. It kind of felt like I was getting eye strain after 10 minutes or so. Any suggestions for the MASKSIZE value for an Oculus Rift? Edit: I used 0.575 for the MASKSIZE and it got rid of the artifacts at the edge of my vision and FPS seemed unaffected. A lower value might work, but trying it out will have to wait until I have more time. -
I would prefer mouse wheel to rotate the knob and click to push it.

Between bombing random houses and listening to music i never figured listening to music would be the less realistic option. Guess I'm a better sim pilot than I thought. Kinda puts my workplace screwups into perspective.

Dumping drop tanks over populated cities, going supersonic 6m over a football stadium, using random cars and houses for target practice. With all the thing I do in game that are a no-no in real life listening to music is pretty far down the list. I will probably fire up the entire Top Gun soundtrack while the F-14 is downloading and launch off the nearest catapult as soon as possible.

Using "throttle for GS and stick for AOA" when landing
Zeroskills replied to LJQCN101's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I think that's for the cat launch. "The Super Hornet gets airborne in nearly 1,000 feet less distance and nearly 20 knots slower than the Hornet. On the ship, the procedures are nearly the same as they were in the legacy Hornet, except now the catapult launch is in full flaps and there is no selection of afterburner mid-catstroke. There can still be afterburner shots for certain weights and configurations, but some of those procedures have slightly changed." I am having the same problem.

I have a weird bug with the audio in the Viggen that only happens in some of the campaign missions. Mission 1-3 work as expected, but in 4-8 (I didn't check past 8) there is no audio for the throttle detents or music from the walkman, and most of the time the master caution and canopy have no audio either. When the master caution and the canopy do have audio, it will only play once, then if you turn the battery off and then on again the master caution beeping won't work a second time and opening and closing the canopy after the fist time will also be silent. Everything woks fine in instant action and single missions. I have ran the repair utility and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the viggen and it has had no effect.

That just puts the NVG in the storage box, the pilot still needs to spend 4 minutes attaching them if you do an air start. If you start on the ground you can have the ground crew attach them for you in a few seconds. There is no way to have the mission start with them already attached to the helmet as far as I know.

I would definitely still be interest in a DCE for the harrier if it's not too much work. With the Harrier still being early access I can see it being a bit of a pain. -

Only easy communications works for now. To get the AI to take off you need to keep their total weight around 20,000 pounds. I have been using the warthog dynamic campaign and just editing in the Harrier in the mission editor and it has been working ok. -
This is a better explanation that the one I gave. If you look at their design if you go with a thumb stick, you only have access to the 4 way hat under the finger at the same time. If you go with a finger stick you can use a 4 way hat, two 2 way hats and a thumb button at the same time.

Thanks for the mission. Everything works but the tanker, it changes its altitude constantly.

I had an X-55, and while I did like the throttle, I hated the stick and ended up returning it. The reason I prefer an index stick is because depending on the plane I'm flying I have target lock, FOV toggle, TGP zoom, target box size toggle, IR/CC toggle, radar range, radar scan modes, radar elevation, and a bunch of other stuff mapped to the thumb buttons. I found that using the Warthogs finger axis to be much easier than doing thumb gymnastics on the X55 while my finger sat there doing nothing. Also, being able to push left to slew the TGP/radar left and pushing right to slew it right to be preferable to pushing forward and backward to slew them left and right. As far as comfort and accuracy between the two I found there to be no difference. I'm going to be ordering a Virpil throttle as soon as possible either way, but if it's at all possible I would much prefer an index finger axis over a thumb axis. If thats not possible I would take no axis and a hat instead and just assign the finger hat to the slew commands.
-
I would also much prefer an index finger stick, it leaves my thumb free to hit all the other buttons on the side at the same time.

JUMPING THE GUN - AN AV-8B NTTR Mission

Good mission. I got exploded into bits by a manpad but I enjoyed everything up to my death. I really appreciate lots of voice overs in missions. -

Any chance of getting this edited to use the Harrier? -
I only put one per pylon and they work fine. If i try to load 2 or 3 per pylon I seel to have issues with them.
