Thanks for this, I've been meaning to find a checklist for the Mig21. Any plans to add basic weapon systems checklists and a landing section?

I'm referring to this: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/599659/ I wanted to report a few bugs in case the original author was interested in fixing them: I noticed that in some of the middle missions, my wingmen would get stuck taxiing out of their parking spots (one would get past the threshold of his taxiway and block the oncoming traffic, then they'd just sit there). I had to change a few missions to runway start to work around it (crudely). Also it was often less than clear what was the exact objective. For example, in mission 6, opening the mission in the editor made it clear that the task was to destroy the Su-25 group and their MiG-29 escort, but the Su-24s and Su-27s were not part of *my* objective. Perhaps some additional trigger text would be helpful to keep the player on task?

CA in current state, is it any good for SP?
redterror replied to a1adin's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
Fully agreed on this. The Georgia Hammer campaign is much more playable with CA. I wish they were all CA-enabled, even if it was just to give me the ability to help the AI out. -
There's no in-game support for this, you'd need to effectively build your own mod with changes to the core files. As a start, for countermeasures, see: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/717382/ and use JSGME to manage it.

Last night I noticed a weird thing when refueling/rearming in an F-15. After the refueling was complete, the total fuel readout started rolling *backward*. Is this a DCS bug or something specific to the server?

DCS detecting all Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS switch commands!
redterror replied to Archer7's topic in DCS Wishlist
I had similar questions to the OP, framed differently, and got some helpful tips here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=134026 I agree it would be nice to have more of this out of the box, so one could use the excellent keybinding GUI to do all this instead of having to open up the hood for what would seem to be a common and recommended config. -
Streak - thanks for this - it's incredibly helpful. I see what you mean about the off-transition events (e.g. the "up" commands). In terms of the trackir mapping, did you configure DCS to trigger a specific keyboard sequence or was trackir mapped to a DX button? If it was the key sequence, can I trouble you to share that example as well? How did you discover all the commands available? Just by reading the lua source or is it documented anywhere? I think this approach is where I'll dig in, and I'll also explore the in-game shift states as dooom mentioned.

Thanks for the insight. Can you elaborate on handling the "one less position of each switch" solution? Do you have an example or two for, say, the flaps toggle and for the EAC switch? I think I'd be ok with what you describe since my core functionality *is* the default, but with a layer in target for trackir stuff. My A10C profile is all the default but with just that extra layer. Also re: game updates - JGSME can solve that nicely.

Hi folks - I'm hoping someone can help me improve the way I'm using my warthog profiles. Right now I have 2 main profiles - one originially built for the A10C that just has the flight stick under TARGET control and one I downloaded for FC3 (both stick+throttle under target for that one). I use the "A10" profile for BS2 and the Mig21 as well, but these tend to not work as nicely since the throttle switches seem to work as toggle buttons in DCS. I don't mind having different profiles for different games, but the rub is in multiplayer where I might join a server, find the slots I want full, then want to jump into another aircraft. Except now I have to close DCS, change my profile, and rejoin. My thinking was that if I had a single unified TARGET profile and managed all DCS-related keymappings in game, that would be better. Is that possible? Is there another better way that I don't know about?
-
Related question: if you've received a target designation, is there a way to delete it after the target is destroyed?

That implies a customer commissioning a campaign for their own private use, thus they must cover the full cost. The thing about digital assets is that the first copy costs a lot, but all the rest cost nothing. So say it was priced at $20 for the campaign. Sell 15 copies and there's $300. Sell 150 and it's $3000. It may still not be worth a designer/developer's time, but its a question of how large the market really is. ED could presumably advise anyone who was serious. All this said, your larger point that it takes real effort/time to make a campaign is completely valid.

Thanks - I tried it in fullscreen mode and indeed I see the effect now. Oddly, I think it actually looks _worse_, but perhaps that's more a function of setting the smoothness to 0%. I'm not sure this is worth the fps loss for me. I'm dropping from ~70 to ~40.

Is there a trick to making this work when running in windowed mode? I play "full-screen" but in windowed mode (to make switching out to other programs easier) and it doesn't appear to do anything. Is there another setting I'm missing?

I tried this, as well as mucking with my in-game resolution but saw no differences. Is there more I need to do? I'm running 2560x1440 natively in-game and on the desktop.

Save countermeasures profile, DSMS Prof setup etc. Possible?
redterror replied to Alkaline's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
JSGME was what I was missing - I knew someone must have scratched this itch, I just didn't have the google-fu for it. Thanks! -
Save countermeasures profile, DSMS Prof setup etc. Possible?
redterror replied to Alkaline's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Short of a proper data cartridge, you can edit the lua files which define the profiles. They live at (approximately): C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\AN_ALE40V\device\AN_ALE40V_params.lua Open that file up in a text editor and add your own custom profiles at the bottom. Be aware that updates will reset this file, so save a copy. -
I do this - I find it pretty natural, and its one less pair of keys/button to manage when you're already trying to fly and shoot at the same time. You'll probably find that to set your view initially you'll lean in a little, re-center, then sit back normally in your chair. At least I do that to get what I think is a normal perspective.

Thanks for this - I just finished the campaign and it was a lot of fun! -
[dcs-tools.com] DyMOD: modern mods manager
redterror replied to galevsky06's topic in Community News
Hi - I'd like to test. I'm a software developer by day and I have experience with basic customizations to DCS (not really full-blown mods, just tweaks). -
If you only ever want the F15, then just go for that. However if you think you might also like to try the Mig, Flanker, or any other FC3 aircraft - go with that. The F15 module and the F15 as bundled w/ FC3 are identical. From the ED shop page:

Froogle mentions exactly this in his video - an entire chapter on combat tactics.

Oh! If these cards have *two* DVI-D ports, then indeed that simplifies things. Using those + a displayport adapter would meet my needs. Thanks again, this was the piece I was missing.
-
Thanks for this info - I am looking to go to a 3-monitor setup in the near future and this helps very much with my expectations. I have a question based on the above - I was looking to do 3-headed SLI w/ the same cards as you have, but at 1440p instead of 1080. My monitors require DVI-D (dual link) cables, so I think I am stuck with using each DVI-D port + 1 of the displayports (so a 2-in-one and 1-in-the-other config). This would mean I'd get the best results in fullscreen mode. Have I got that right or is there another approach I am overlooking?
