  1. Compared to the Mustang, the Sabre is a hot rod, easier to fly, and more forgiving IMHO. Belsimtek's F-86F is a real beauty, a pleasure to operate, and it has a lot of DCS community support.
  2. I've starting noticing some jitter in my 18-month-old Saitek X52 Pro throttle. Rather get inside the hardware and clean pots, etc., I'm wishing there was a mod/plugin/ap that could run interference between the hardware and software to smooth things out, but as I and others have found there is apparently none. The jitter doesn't affect game performance, but with the P-51D especially I don't like seeing a throttle wobbling in the cockpit.
  3. Thanks for the tip, HiJack. I've tried the X-52 Pro with both USB 2 and USB 3 and the result is the same.
  4. After playing Battlefield 4 you'll never settle for anything less. :)
  5. I've had my X-52 Pro for over a year and I love it. My only disappointment is that new out-of-the-box, my unit's throttle MFD brightness is unstable (it alternately brightens and dims on its own). After much tweeking and debugging I contacted the manufacturer requesting a replacement X-52 Pro (I purchased it through NewEgg), but they told me that I had to send my existing one back first to see if it could be repaired. They even wanted me to pay for shipping, but I managed to talk them into their paying for shipping at least. I wasn't happy about the support offered, but in the end I never sent the X-52 Pro back for repair, rather as it appeared to be working in all other respects I simply covered most of the MFD with electrical tape leaving only a window to display the currently loaded profile. The Mad Catz profile editor takes a little getting used to, but once you master it you have a very versatile HOTAS system.
  6. Thanks for the suggestions gospadin and speckfire. I finally got it working in 2.0, though I'm still not sure exactly what's going on. I ran the 2.0 repair option (via Windows command line) and while that didn't seem to make a significant difference, I learned that in the mission editor properly coordinating an Airplane Group with Country and appropriate Paint Scheme appears to be the key to getting the desired paint scheme to show up in flight. With your help I have determined that repaints can be applied to the M-2000C in 2.0, just not quite so easily (at least for me) as with other mods. I'll keep at it and share any relevant discoveries. Thanks again.
  7. K:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\Bazar\Liveries\M-2000C\ UPDATE: I tried putting the skins into K:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\CoreMods\aircraft\M-2000C\Liveries\M-2000C, and while they show in the mission builder menu and can be assigned to the pilot's M-2000C, they still don't appear on the pilot's aircraft when the mission is run. This is also an issue with the default liveries installed with the M-2000C; they work fine in 1.5, but will not apply in 2.0. BTW gospadin, your English cockpit for the M-2000C works great and is very much appreciated!
  8. I'm loving the beautiful M-2000C in both the Open Beta 1.5 and in Open Alpha 2.0. Fantastic work! QUESTION: In the mission editors I can apply other skins to the pilot's M-2000C, but when I start the mission they only appear in Open Beta 1.5; when flying a mission in Open Alpha 2.0 only my wingman appears to have acquired the new skin, while my plane still has the default skin. I've tried several skins with the same result. Is this a known issue with the M-2000C and Open Alpha 2.0? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!
  9. Love my Dell UltraSharp 27 QHD U2715H.
  10. VJS161_Fire's suggestion sure worked for me! And that nose wheel thing was making me crazy. Also, now I finally have a use for that X-52 Pro slider. :)
  11. That makes sense Grimes. Thanks!
  12. My apologies if this has already been covered, but if so I haven't been able to locate the threads. With the 2.0 alpha I've noticed that many, if not all, legacy missions *.miz files are visible to neither the mission loading screen nor the mission editor; meanwhile, missions I've created in 2.0, and more recent missions (like those that come with the L-39C) are. Is this by design? Does 2.0 somehow identify legacy missions and refuse load them? Is there a way to coax the 2.0 mission builder to load legacy missions and then save them in a format that 2.0 better appreciates? Also, a question about the mission folder structure. Appears to be multiple, repeated layers. For example, the F-86F default mission folder structure looks like this: Missions QuickStart Single EN QuickStart Single Is one to be preferred over the other? Thanks. BTW, Nellis is FANTASTIC!!!
  13. Saw the same after a Huey manual start with 2.0 Nevada. Looked like an afterburner. No lights on the CAWS except for the usual yellow IFF.
  14. So I'm just now dipping my toe into the Open Alpha 2.0 working with the UH-1H Huey. One of the first steps to starting the Huey is to set the Phase Switch to AC which is bound to the keyboard command Left Shift+R, however when I enter these keys I am instead taken out of the mission to a new screen requesting that I authorize the Nevada scenery, which of course I have already done. When I exit the authorization screen and restart the Huey mission key bindings no longer seem to work properly, requiring me to completely restart DCS World. According to the Huey Controls screen Left Shift+R is still bound to setting the Phase Switch to AC. Thanks.
  15. Thank you zaelu!
  16. My apologies if this has been addressed before and/or is already available and I missed it, but having spent some time recently with Laminar Research's X-Plane 10 (a high-fidelity flight simulator with a focus on civilian aircraft), I've grown fond of an add-on, called X-Camera, that allows you to create multiple camera views both within and without the aircraft and bind these views to the keyboard and also make them available via a pop-up menu. Especially helpful is the ability to create cockpit cameras trained on specific controls and gauges, allowing one to quickly locate items, especially in hard to see/hard to reach areas (if you're a perpetual noob like me you can spend ten minutes and longer trying to locate a single item in an unfamiliar cockpit while working through a checklist). And with so many fantastic aircraft available for DCS World, it's difficult, for me at least, to keep current with all the cockpits all the time. Another plus that X-Plane's add-on offers is the ability to create animated walkarounds of your aircraft, allowing you not only to get a better sense of what you're flying but also to appreciate the tremendous workmanship that goes into modeling and texturing these beautiful aircraft. Anything like this for DCS World? Thanks.
  17. Awesome Charly! MUCH thanks!!
  18. I purchased a Saitek X-52 Pro HOTAS about 6 months ago. At first I tried to buy it through Best Buy because they offer immediate product swap (for an extra fee) if there is a problem with your first unit, but 3 days into the order Best Buy suddenly bailed on the order without explanation. I then ordered it from New Egg. It works with one flaw: If you try to dim the LED brightness on the throttle the MFD screen brightness gets whompy, arbitrarily going from dim to full brightness to dim again, sometimes even flashing. Very distracting when flying. Contacted Saitek support and at first they wanted me to send the unit back at my expense! Finally they relented and said they'd pay for the return shipping, but at that point I'd covered over the MFD with black electrical tape. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot of alternatives out there.
  19. Likewise I've heard real helicopter pilots claim that flying real helicopters is easier than flying realistic helicopter sims.
  20. Okay, I see them now in the Mission Editor. It does seem to be a country thing (I think). Maybe I just didn't know what I was doing. Thanks for the tip uboats!
  21. Do you mean ..\DCS World\Bazar\Liveries\mi-8mt\ ?
  22. Thanks Art-J. I have tried both directories--\mi-8mt\ and \Mi-8MTV\. If I browse to \mi-8mt\ it shows a total of 40 different repaint folders (Abkhazia, Australia, Belgium...), so maybe it's a country thing? I'll keep working at it. Thanks again.
  23. I have downloaded what I think are skins for the Mi-8MTV2 from DCS World's User Files, but when I put them into ..\DCS World\Bazar\Liveries\Mi-8MTV2\ they don't show up in the Mission Editor. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/?arrFilter_pf%5Bfiletype%5D=6&arrFilter_pf%5Bgameversion%5D=94&arrFilter_pf%5Bfilelang%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Baircraft%5D=&arrFilter_CREATED_USER_NAME=&set_filter=Filter&set_filter=Y The only Mission Editor Paint Scheme option I see is "Georgian Standard." Am I missing something? Thanks.
  24. I've got them all thus far, but far too little time to give each the attention they deserve. If you're patient, wait for the occasional super sales where some modules will be marked down drastically for a few days at a time. They're all worth having.
  25. Took me some practice, but it can be done. ;)
