  1. Will you tell us if you're working on a 109G or not? :)
  2. Flyby sounds are nice. The rest still needs some work. Especially the Idle sounds which are almost silent and the in cockpit sounds, which are a bit lawnmowery as some have said.
  3. Yes I'm aware. Was just saying that those are what I've seen mentioned with MW-50. As well as some 45 time period A-8s with unspecified engines. Nothing concrete though.
  4. In the Baubeschreibung here it is mentioned that the tank can be filled with MW-50 as well. From Nov 44. Under sondernotleistung it only goes in detail about GM-1 and the MP increase though.... http://www.deutscheluftwaffe.com/archiv/Dokumente/ABC/f/FockeWulf/Fw%20190/284_Fw_190_A_8.pdf Other than that ive also only found mentions of very late model 801s (S&F models) which could be used with MW-50, but nothing reliable. The document also mentions the Erhöhte notleistung (incresed MP without any injection) for A-8s as of July 44. EDIT: Read it in some more detail. It is mentioned that as of August/September 44 A-8s will be delivered with the additional tank. The tank could be used for MW-50, fuel, or GM-1, however currently the plan is only to carry additional fuel. It also mentions as I said that as of July 44 "sämtliche" A-8s (numerous A-8s) will receive/received the Erhöhte Notleistung (MP increase). I would think that any aircraft delivered with the tank built in would have had the increased MP modifications already incorporated on it as well...
  5. Same for the Mustang campaign I assume? Nice work. :D
  6. It was definitely tested at some point. But other than the German wikipedia page for the 190 which claims that it was used as WEP late in the war I never found any sources for it. My guess is they assumed it used the same WEP as other German fighters.... What I did find was this document from March 15. 1944 which discusses Performance increases for the A-8: http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/fw190/Fw_190_A-8_15-3-44.pdf (basically reiterates what several others here have mentioned) For the Jabo-Rei & Schlachtflugzeug versions: Increase in Manifold Pressure from 1,42 to 1,65 ata with C3 injection. Cleared for 3x10 minute uses, with 10 minutes cooldown time in between. For Normaljäger (Normal Fighter): I: Values From Rechlin not currently cleared for use (not sure if this refers to the ones below or some other test report). MP increase from 1,42 ata to 1,58 ata for the 1st Supercharger gear, and 1,65 ata fir the 2nd gear. No C3 Injection Allowed for 10 minute use at all altitudes. Caution to be taken in climbing flight (but still allowed). II: GM-1 Boost.
  7. If its anything like the 109, you can mod it in with 2 changed lines in the Lua code to try out in the meantime.
  8. it came out yesterday. Unless Yo-Yo releases anything the community will have to make them, which will take a little while.
  9. What is the deal with MW-50? Apparently there are binds for it in game? Is this leftover from the Dora? I thought it was also only tested then abandoned due to cylinders cracking, but other sources claim that due to shortages of some sort they converted some aircraft with C3 injection to MW-50 near the end of the war??? Will this be coming later also or is it just a leftover piece of code from the Dora?
  10. No one knows what ED bases their stuff on except ED themselves. As far as German ac goes we've been told alot of it comes from the smithsonian (and isnt publically available). That being said there are a number of performance charts for the real aircraft that you can find on the internet. These are good places to start. http://www.kurfurst.org/ http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/ Just remember to keep in mind the conditions of the tests etc etc if you want to start comparing things.
  11. Agreed. Doesn't change the fact that it will turn similarly to the dora if not worse, and be as slow as the Mk IX.
  12. We'll have to wait and see but I doubt it will be very good for anything but hit and run considering how the Dora fares currently.
  13. Theres a page and a half of discussion about planes and dates before I even got here, how am I the one that brought it up? Maybe I'm wrong about the Straits of Dover thing but that was the latest gossip around here a couple months ago. Going much further North in France without having significant overlap with the current map means it'd probably have large amounts of Benelux in it. Which while it was the scene of plenty of air action in that time period, might not make huge amounts of business sense considering the competition at the moment. My personal preference would be South Germany/Austria/Northern Italy. Thats a cool map SD, thanks for the link.
  14. No, you're just trying to turn this into another my airplane vs your airplane he said she said forum war, which only leads to NL deleting all the posts and the thread getting locked. I'm not sure how MAD or myself are at fault that there aren't any Normandy fitting German aircraft released up until now, but I think if you look through any of the numerous threads on the topic both of us have been 100% for adding those planes into DCS. Since this is a map thread and not a plane thread I'll mention again that the fastest way to get anything where the planes match the map is by making a 1945 era map of Germany or similar, since thats where most of the planes we have flew. Going to the MTO or something like that would take forever. It seems that making slightly earlier versions of what we have for Normandy isn't that fast either, but I guess well see what the plans are in that regard once the A-8 comes out.
  15. Yes. We've already had that discussion 1000 times. Or are you just looking for a chance to cry luftwhiner again??
  16. All you're saying is they changed the internal 3D model as well as the external. Which is exactly what I said, its a copy and paste of the D-30 with a few cosmetic changes. The FM appears to be exaclty the same. Last time I checked the Mission Editor all that removed IFF equipment accounted for a grand total of 0lbs difference in DCS..... Don't ask me why it took 2 years to do that.... Or who decided that that was a "more appropriate ETO Mustang".... But thats a topic for another thread. As far as the map I can't find the post anymore but IIRC Sithspawn or Wags already mentioned its just an older name for what became Normandy.
  17. Strait of Dover is just an old name for the Normandy map. Thats been confirmed numerous times. And the D-25/D-30 is from Feb 45, not 44. (Roughly. Actually varies a bit more but Oct/Nov 44 at the earliest I've found for the D-25 which is just a reskinned D-30 in DCS anyway)
  19. Who came up with this nonsense? The two aren't even remotely similar, nor was that the design philosophy of the 190. Big engine, little airplane is a better description for the 109/spitfire, and Tank is literally quoted as saying that that philosophy was not what he wanted for the 190.
  20. Well Brunotte says in that video that that diving spiral was one of the few times he flew with both hands on the stick. Otherwise he seemed to imply that his left hand was always on the throttle. He does mention things getting more "exerting" I guess in combat though, not a specific mention of stick forces but also implied through his gestures. Honestly I've read through Yo-Yos post about the stick force calculations in the 109 thread a couple of times, trying to understand the theory and going through the math etc etc. Its not really that complicated to follow (although there are a few details that may have been lost in translation somewhere along the way), and I don't think theres an issue there. But there are times when it does feel like there is a bit of lag with the hand switching logic or something like that. And definitely the whole thing seems to be affected by netcode and server performance. Yo-Yo maybe you can clear this up once and for all: How does the hand switching logic work for the 109? Does he always fly with both hands? Always with 1 hand? 1 handed till a certain force is reached then 2?
  21. IIRC the mods to open it up and bypass the sensor aren't that difficult. There really isnt a better stick for flying warbirds out there so its worth it if thats the only thing stopping yours from working. I guess well see when the tomcat comes out... The way it sounds with the FM FFB would be nice to have in a dogfight, but for formation stuff and Hotas reasons WH might still be better. Or you have to make one of those franken-sidewinders with a Cougar stick and the FFB base... But Im starting to run out of USB ports already... :)
  22. Well it was in one or 2 of MagZ's videos. Not that that means anything, but I guess we'll find out on the 13th, or when Heatblur makes a statement/releases the roadmap.
