  1. IMO M-2000C has the best fast jet engine sounds in DCS - the only module where you can really hear the 'ripping' of the air sound. Also has more realistic distortion sounds.
  2. MoeZ, If you type "joy.cpl" into the Win10 search box, the familiar box showing the list of windows game controllers will come up. from there you can click on properties or advanced and adjust some settings of the X65. Hope that helps. Rag48
  3. Hi MoeZ, In Windows 10 the X65F (for me) works perfectly. I don't even think I had to install any drivers for it, it just worked when I plugged it in and it was automatically detected by DCS. I will check the calibration manual start option and come back to you (I don't use that feature).
  4. Thank you nuts - I would really appreciate that. I have used the X65F without SST for years, but now that I have VR there are some extra things I want to map in order to minimize keyboard use. I agree the the X65 rocks! I bought a HOTAS warthog as an 'upgrade' but after experiencing both, chose to stick with the X65.
  5. Hi folks, Does anyone have a link to a version of the Saitek SST software that a) plays nice with DCS 2.1 and Windows 10 .... AND .... b) includes support for the X65F HOTAS? SST doesn't seem to be available on the Saitek downloads webpage (it's blank), and so I'm hoping another simmer might have a copy. In scouring the forums I found a link to version 6.6.6.9, with indications that it doesn't cause problems, however when I installed it the X65F was not listed in the drop down box of available products to map. I would like to map the throttle scroll wheel as well as the rotary knob axes, but understand the only way to do this is with SST. I also saw from reading the forum that some versions have unwanted behavior. Of course if anyone knows of a workaround that doesn't require SST, that would be great too. Any help would be appreciated - thanks!
  6. can't wait - I appreciate all the hard work to bring this project to life.
  7. Thank you for the opportunity! I'd like to win because my 8 year old is addicted to DCS, and this HOTAS would be greatly appreciated and treated kindly. I think the great Jim Mackonochie (RIP) would approve of his enthusiasm for DCS.
  8. Thanks to both of you for the replies - despite being on these forums for many years I had never been to (or heard of) the Mission Builder's Corner. I tried the forum search and google search for quite some time but came up empty and that's when I decided to ask. Anyways now I know and thanks again for the solution!
  9. Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me to understand how to force an AI aircraft to idle in a parking spot at an airbase. I'm building a few missions where the ability to do this would make things somewhat more immersive as opposed to using static aircraft objects, both visually (I could have weapons on pylons vs a clean config) and audibly (sound of engines vs dead silence at the airbase). I know I can tell aircraft to activate on a time delay, but from what I know this means that the aircraft spawns at the activation time, and I'd like everything visible from the start). In essence I'd like to be able to tell an AI to takeoff from parking hot, without the takeoff or taxi actions. Similarly, if there is a way to have an AI aircraft spawn at mission start but then start the engines on a time delay, I'd love to know how to do that as well. Thanks in advance for your advice! Note: I do know how to put aircraft at a base and set them as clients so that I have the option to hop into one, either cold or hot, whenever I like. But my request for help here is unrelated and is focused on player immersion. Thank you again.
  10. I am having significant slowdowns in 1.5.4 as well - glad to see it is not just me.
  11. I have a few framerate test missions and confirm that I have also lost about 30% framerate in 1.5.4. I am using the open beta executable. I tried deleting the options.lua file but that did not make much difference. I also tried reverting from starway's textures to the originals. I have a 980ti hybrid and 6700k OC setup. Disappointed, as I was thrilled with my performance before. Now I routinely fall below 60fps whereas this was almost never the case before.
  12. Nice! Actually I bought 2 x 6950s as well when I got my 2500k, and had the same issues you did. Ultimately I pulled the trigger on the 980ti and an SSD during the Christmas sale last year, and paired with the 2500k OC, DCS performs really well with high settings at 2560x1080. I really had no reason to upgrade, but justified this new build because my older son is 'DCS ready' now. :) So I'll move the 980ti to the new machine, put the 6950s back in the sandy bridge, and then when the pascal 1080 prices drop a bit, rotate one of those in and sell the 6950s. Thanks again - really appreciate the RAM advice.
  13. Thanks again - by the way I noticed you have the 2600k - my current machine has the 2500k @ 4.9 ghz and I'm extremely impressed with how well sandy bridge has held up - I'm sure you are too!
  14. Thank you for the replies - I think I focused on Gskill because I searched for something with 15 timings, have had good luck with them in the past, and wanted to narrow my choices a bit (so no particular reason). Not knowing how much RAM DCS really uses or will likely use in the future, I guess my question could really boil down to "Is 16GB enough"... If yes, I'd pick the faster RAM.
  15. Hello, I am in the process of building an additional DCS machine that will have cpu: i7 6700k mobo: ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero gpu: evga nvidia 980 ti hybrid hotas: TM warthog storage: m.2, to be determined But I am struggling with the RAM - I have narrowed down my search to the below two options, which I can get for nearly the same price: 16GB of Gskill DDR4 TridentZ F4-3600C15D-16GTZ 3600MHz 15-15-15-35 or 32GB of Gskill DDR4 TridentZ F4-3400C16Q-32GTZ 3400Mhz 16-18-18-38 My primary goal of this build is achieving the best possible DCS performance...(no other titles or computer tasks matter). I read the 2016 hardware performance benchmark thread that showed that DRAM frequency has a tangible effect on framerate, which leads me toward the faster memory shown above. But is the faster 16GB set a better option than twice the amount of slightly slower RAM? I plan to overclock, of course. Thanks in advance for your recommendations between the two choices above. rag48
  16. Thank you for such a detailed update! Best of luck in the new year!
  17. I have the same issue - no movement at all
  18. Thank you for the opportunity! Please count me in.
  19. LAlt-Enter instantly worked for me and engaged crossfire, jumping FPS from 40s to 90s on 2x6950s - but I have an issue now where the clouds (and only the clouds) flicker like crazy. Has anyone else experienced this? Cheers EDIT: there is a separate thread on the cloud issue: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=148067
  20. Simply delighted... Great update
