  1. Haven't seen your track file but here are some of the things that helped me out. Setup a simple mission in ME with only you and the carrier. Don't forget to hibe the carrier some speed, like 20 kn. Setup everything (TCN ICLS BRC course on HSI) before takeoff. After launch don't raise gear or flaps, establish positive climb and start turning left. Then call inbound and "see you at 10" after you get the response. If you're within 3 nm you'll automatically get a "charlie". If your approaches are bad, land with hook up at first. You'll save some time that way. Just remember to call the tower after a bolter. At first start with longer approaches (for me it was about 3nm from the deck) and then shorten them up as you get more confident. When turning final and "in the groove" try to fix your errors (use ICLS for reference) as fast as possible. Problems tend to compound very quickly. Don't follow the ICLS lines when you're within 1nm of the carrier. You'll get better results if you focus on the deck and the ball (at least I did). Get used to moving the throttle all the time. Trim your aircraft to on speed AOA when you're on downwind. You should be able to fly straight and level and on speed without any stick movements before turning final. Hope some of these might help. Good luck.
  2. Thanks, I'll try that. Yeah, at first I did all my landings with the hook up because it's much quicker and my previous grades looked like that anyway: ;) UPDATE: That was it! After advancing the the throttle to MIL just before touchdown I'm now getting proper grades. Cheers! :drink: vid: I've also attached a track if anyone's intrested. Hornet carrier practice 22 05 20_2.trk
  3. I've been practice carrier landings since the release and no matter what I do I can't get a good grade. Perhaps you could take a look and tell me what I'm doing wrong. Here's the video: Link: And here's the track file: https://we.tl/t-DK7YoeKO1H (sorry, it's 10MB so couldn't attach it to the post) PS. I was just practicing line-up and landings, so I skipped the rest. Cheers
  4. Just a small update. I've bought a 1080Ti and it's quite good. I can bump up the graphics a bit and still keep the game running at 40 FPS. Plus setting pixel density to something higher than 1.0 really helps with the clarity. It's still struggling a bit on a busy MP server. I've tested it on Hoggit yesterday (20-30ish ppl) and sometimes, especially around the airport, the framerate drops to around 20. But I still need to play around with optimized shaders and I haven't touched the CPU yet, so overall I'm quite happy. Cheers!
  5. Sorry, a typo :music_whistling: It's an i5-9600K Anyway, thanks guys, looks like I'll be upgrading my GPU soon.
  6. I need some help with upgrading my rig. Basically it's a typical question whether I should get a new CPU or GPU. My current specs are: i5-6900K 3.7GHz 500GB SSD GTX 980Ti 32GB RAM DDR4 Rift S For most of the time the game runs fine (40FPS, which is max for Rift S), especially on an empty map. However as soon as there's more stuff going on (like an autogen mission or a busy server) it drops to about 20. So, my first guess would be to get a new CPU. However. Neither the GPU nor any of the cores reach 100% and when I increase the view distance the FPS also drops (which I think would suggest a lacking GPU. Besides 980tI seems a bit too weak for VR, so I'm at a loss My budget is 500-600$ tops. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
  7. Seems like the flight sim market has caught up with the rest of the gaming industry. We now have a first ever module to come out with day 1 DLC... Sorry guys, couldn't help myself :smilewink:
  8. I'd start by posting a picture of your radar screen.
  9. Oh, so that's why I boltered every time I tried to land on the ball. It all makes sense now. Just look how much do you need to pull up to remain on speed :
  10. Just one note. This mod is not compatible with Ranger's Object pack. Once you install this, it overwrites the "Fortification" menu. To solve this you need to delete the entry.lua and all theme files. Cheers.
  11. Wow, these are some nice looking tents. I might add them to my FARP base.
  12. Here's my FARP base for 12 ships. Feel free to use it. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Install the latest ranger's objects pack: Ranger79 Base Objects Pack (Hesco's + others) 2. Install Air Weapons Range Objects: http://www.476vfightergroup.com/content.php?253-dcs-world-objects 3. Put this code into your templates.lua file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/50852516/FARP%20Template.rtf 4. In ME, after placing the template, there are 3 cone objects that indicate exactly where you need to put FARP objects. 4. Enjoy!
  13. This is not my base, so I can't give any permissions but there are two options: 1. you can join the 1stcav and enjoy more awesome bases 2. you can wait a bit because I am preparing a base template and will post it when finished Cheers
  14. Nice update m8. The new object are really looking great and finally we have the tools to build awesome bases. However, Hesco walls and barbed wire have a large impact on FPS (especially since there's often lot of them) so I made a low polygon version of it for those with less powerful machines. 15. I had the same issue, but didn't found any solution.
  16. I think the effect is a bit exaggerated in DCS. If you look at heli video when they take off or land on for ex. grass they rarely pick up dust. IMHO this should only be visible if you are near a very dusty area on dry weather. Otherwise it should be a very faint effect.
