  1. I love the retro Hong Kong adverts on the side of the building! Most notably, "Black Man toothpaste" AKA Darlie Toothpaste in the West :D Which I actually use at home.
  2. The MIG is very much a boom and zoomer in comparison to the Sabre. According to Soviet MiG pilots in Korea: Climb to cruise, spot enemy, dive @800KM/H using airbrakes to maintain speed and pull away for wing-man to do the same. source: MiG Menace Over Korea - Yuri Sutiagin The MIG is slightly faster in a combat climb but the Sabre dives faster. But overall in terms of performance they are quite similar.
  3. When I was doing my license in the very first trainer, I needed to re-calibrate the DG every 15 minutes. That should give you some indicator of how far it can wander. I wouldnt worry too much about Mag variation (or as you call it Declination? I've never heard it called that before and I have 2 sets of ATPLs) is only a real issue if its over long distances of about 100-150NM +. ANd if you're flying VMC anyways, just look out the window. Its actualyl a shame DCS doesnt publish a high-quality map for download for use in the sim for VFR and IFR work.
  4. ITs highly unlikely this will get 3rd party licence. If I recall you need approval from the A/C manufacturing company as well as the technical data. It is EXTREMELY unlikely Sukhoi will give the approval or the technical data. If you want a reference just go look at the Rafale mod a few threads down where Dassault ordered him to stop as soon as he tried to make it offical. Recently the MIG23 project by Razbam was also halted as it is still considered classified. As long as he keeps this project as a mod its fine tho. And a fine mod it is. I love the red cockpit lightning.
  5. Wow. That is harsh. I recall at the end of my training I had a Nav session where i only flew with the VSI and ASI in actual IMC. That was....scary. IFR radio is definitely a huge pressure. I think by the end of the course you will be doing the radio work with OEI during an ILS? Unless you're doing your IFR in a single only?
  6. Good luck with that. To this day with ATPLs from 2 seperate juristictions, the IREX exam and flight was the hardest thing Ive had to do relative to the experience I had.
  7. If you're into such books, I recommend ""Flying the Buccaneer: Britain’s Cold War Warrior"" by Peter Caygill. Its quite dry reading, but at the time i was studying aviation so it was educational, lots of interesting designs and work-arounds that make it an interesting aircraft on the catapult.
  8. I did a quick run with a mate of mine. two of us went to down a B52, pretty cool mod (Vid): [ame] [/ame] Looking forward to the WSO when DCS 2 is released in full.
  9. I think my DCS patched and now the aircraft is un-flyable (ie. Cannot get into the cockpit and is an AI aicraft)
  10. As far as Im aware the F14 only fired the sidewinder in 1 mode. You need to engage the CAGE/SEAM switch to engage the Sidewinder in the A/B variant and you will get a "SEAM LOCK" anyways (This is purely for the purpose of a visual cue for the lock) . You'll hear the tone and the tone increase for a lock. IF IT HELPS, you may use PLM mode and it will lock the aircraft directly ahead and engage STT (Single Target Track) mode which feeds target data to the Sidewinder. I have attached the relevant section from the Aerosoft F14 manual, but as far as Im aware, this is no other mode for the Tomcat; it didnt have off-bore capabilities. And as far as my sim expereince goes from the Sabre in DCS to BMS's F16, this adds up. With the exception of the Off-bore in BMS, the F16's Sidewinder functions identically (and BMS is a very very detailed avionoics sim).
  11. Im keeping an eye on this project:thumbup: The pit looks fanastic; sadly SHift+M didnt work either... ( I tried both Shifts)
  12. Got the mod, cockpit works fine, but no HMCS. M is still showing up as Mirrors in the controls. I presume Ive done something wrong?
  13. Have the moon and stars aligned?! A working F16 pit!?!
  14. DCS MIG-31BM (MOD) Hey guys, I recently found rvsnpilot's mod for the MIG31 BM. It comes complete with a cockpit. There are some very minor graphic glitches since this is a pre-1.5 DCS mod (i.e. not designed for 1.5), however it still works fine. I made a short video in multi, hope you guys find it interesting! Note: The R33s are currently firing on E-O mode, its part of the mod and is intentional.
  15. I think one thing I can say for sure is that everyone in the flight sim community (be it civil or military) wants a specific aicraft. All you need to do is go into any one speculation thread and suddenly its swarmed with "I would like X/ Y would be awesome!" That said, I personally do think a MIG 25 or 31 would be great to have in one of the big sims (X plane/DCS/ FSX) because its a extremely unusual high performance aicraft designed for extreme altitudes and speed. Id happiyl take an un-armed version just for long rides. The only comparable aircraft in the sim market right now is the SR71 which I think is specific to X plane 10.
  16. There is in fact currently a working DCS MIG31 mod for the BM with a cockpit.. I just tested it out this morning:
  17. I got Aerosoft's F14 in FSX to start practicing :)
  18. Got the Aerosoft F14 in FSX to start practicing :) Super keen to get straight into it when DCS's one releases!
  19. Im currently practicing the F14 on FSX. I got Dino's F14 (Which is free) so hopefully when it comes out here I'll jump into it straight away with no issues.
  20. I wouldn't mind seeing rockets on the MiG, but at the same time I don't mind not having certain options as long as accuracy is maintained by the devs; I would be very disappointed if that opened the floodgates to prototype/fictional aircraft with fictional/theorictal load outs as if it was World of Warplanes.
  21. Good day all! I know many of us aren't too keen on reading the massive amount of text or the rather bland in-game lessons, so I made a collection of short tutorials for different aspects of the MiG21. These are not particularity detailed, but they are certainly good if you just want to get into flying quickly and build your own knowledge from there. Nothing is over 15 minutes long and they are split into smaller subjects. Feedback always welcome, just bear in mind, these are QUICK GUIDES without huge amount of specific data details, not in-dept tutorials :joystick: Hope these will be useful!
  22. Complete skin scrub here. I read a few comments and I saw that the its generally "drag drop" into the bazer/livery folder. The problem isnt the skin not showing up, its that its showing up on top of the defeault skin so I have both showing up on the same model. Could someone help me correct this?
  23. I was digging up some info on FSX and Xplane and I discovered you can pilot Co Pilot in the civilian planes ( not sure about the addon military ones). But it would be good fun to have multi crew aircraft and would actually make some of the ground pounding and flying easier if we had an SU27PU or F15E. Would be great if we had side by side seating too like an SU24.
  24. Thank you I have booted it up and it looks very promising. Struggling to find more tho. I suspect I will need to start learning to make my own and become like some sort of Game Master for my group.
