The ILS in mission editor says course 070 but to fly the ILS it’s a course of 064 or 065 strange Didn’t notice til now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I didn’t know the viper does that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was playing the Caucasus Map and figured out the Viper HUD by default does True North so your ILS Course is 5deg off in this terrain map cause Batumi and Kobuleti are 5E so for ILS to work you have to know the MagVar and add or subtract with it. I understand more fully

How do you land the viper without running out of runway
ruddy122 replied to ruddy122's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Even though I like both the Viper and the Hornet I like the Viper even more Less to Memorize than the Hornet in Air to Air and more challenging to land right now Landing on the boat is hard enough but landing in an FSU (Former Soviet Union) airfield is challenging enough in the Viper Once the Viper has JDAMS and JSOW it’ll be a force to reckon not only is it deadly now but more deadly in the future Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
How do you land the viper without running out of runway
ruddy122 replied to ruddy122's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
The key is 5-6000 lbs of fuel Approach around 170 or less Aim for threshold and land within first 500 ft of Runway and 80% brakes You can land in any 8000 ft field Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I could land the viper safely at Batumi with 1000 ft to 500 ft to spare Now if my wingman doesn’t shoot me down Reminds me of Dos Gringos Two’s Blind and the Wingman Song Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Wake turbulence is scary I was number 2 of a KC10 three ship and I hit the wake of lead The plane wanted to flip I had to fight to keep it right side up This was the time that A300 biffed it in NY Naturally I didn’t touch the rudders used the stick to bail me out Still scary all these years Moral don’t hit wake turbulence not fun Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

The plane still flies at 105 I use Foghorns gouge as a cross check 140 + 4 For Each 1000 lbs of fuel For Example if your fuel weight is 5000 the lowest you should get is 160 140 + 20 (4*5) = 160 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

What works for me is make the wheel brakes an axis command on the joystick to stop the swerving Like this thread says the Anti-Skid isn’t perfected yet but there’s some good work arounds NWS is twitchy at best so use small inputs or you run the risk of flipping over or off roading both of which is bad The Viper is easier than the DCS Hornet in my opinion and a lot of fun You just have to treat her right Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I wanted to put an older livery on the Viper like Easypeac3 WWII tribute but it doesn’t load Just have to wait for next update Just want you to know it’s not your computer but the update Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was asking if it was feasible apparently just because externally they look the same they are different inside The F-16AM and F-2 are completely different I know it’s a lot to ask but different variant of the F-16C like F-16D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

24FPS is good for a flight sim more FPS is an overkill if you can’t achieve it consistently or you achieve stuttering that is a problem Memory still plagues DCS and looks like 8Gb barely cuts it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The only thing I can see is that Syria could be really intensive hopefully it becomes better soon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hold On to your hats the USAF taught flyers like me Control & Performance AFI 11-217 goes into great detail but the ADI is extremely important Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I’m finally landing the Viper FoghornF16 technique of landing the viper works for me Also use the Wheel Brake as a Tap or an Axis also works Keep in mind under wet conditions you need more runway why RCR23 vs RCR10 you have less grip when the runway is wet Even the best pilots can get hurt A Thunderbirds pilot was hurt in Dayton when a freak wind blew the plane off the runway while landing the viper Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

You flare throttles idle and around 8 deg nose up That’s how I used to fly the 10 Aero brake don’t do it use your wing TRs instead Number 2 is tough to get at Outstations According to Semper Viper the Viper wants to keep flying around 105 knots That’s why Viper Drivers wants to fly it down to keep it on the ground Way back when the First F-16 was gonna do a high speed taxi test but the thing got off the ground Luckily a Test Pilot was at the controls and did a quick pattern and Full Stop Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Basically to land the 10 Spoilers are armed They let go once the Mains touch if not you’ll never land on the first 3000 ft of runway You do landing attitude demos with the Spoilers Disarmed So if you touch you don’t accidentally activate the spoilers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Spangdahlem Vipers used to take out approach lights The reason why is Spangs runway is on the top of a hill so you can go below the airfield if there is bad weather Guys have done it in good weather Spang is a challenging airport Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

The C-17 has the flaps blown by the jet engines You need more thrust to give you more air for the flaps If you reduce thrust the air for the flaps is not there and your plane flies like a paperweight The T-1 and KC-10 doesn’t have that problem cause you don’t need jet thrust to make the Flaps more effective you can reduce thrust without affecting the wing You shoot for a speed from the checklist which is 1.3Vs I used to use 1.3Vs+5 The KC-10 min runway is 7000 FT Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Can’t open Chucks links for the Viper Is there a deadzone? Chucks Guide says 4 for the HOTAS are the Rudder Pedals the same Can’t remember I should but I didn’t Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Look for the Meatball The Meatball is Always Right Tough to read if Meatball is high you are above GS If meatball is low you are below GS If meatball changes color do something you might hit the boat which is bad Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You prefer the 3 wire but any wire will do if you are going to land on the boat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It helps I get it The KC10 was more traditional The C-17 is weird you have to add thrust to cushion the landing The 10 is like the T-1A put it at idle and stall the plane Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

ruddy122 replied to RagnarBSE's topic in Bugs and Problems
The latest update either made the AIM-120C more realistic or easier to defeat I try to use AIM 120s like advanced Sparrows ASE is important and a Range of 3nm or closer to register a hit Launching two slammers is not a bad idea Increases your Pk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Lot of Good info read this thread for the finer points Practice, Practice did I say practice If your landing on a Carrier the formula is BRC minus 10 Trim is your friend Once you achieve the Orange Donut note the power setting on the DDI is N2 You should be hands off for up and down only time you use the stick for up and down is small immediate corrections without touching the Throttles Remember to lower the gear and or Tailhook if you’re landing on the boat Remember to breathe don’t want a pilot turning blue Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Cool Just wanted to know if there is a magic number there isn’t one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Cool So what I’ve imputed is per NATOPS or as close to it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
