  1. 14th_JAR First thank you for the awesome paint jobs and thanks to the original creators of the Mod. The plane is fun to fly and handles great on the carrier approach Quick question is there a good graphic or source for the weapon store configurations for the A-7E? I'm trying to create some simple missions with realistic loadouts Thanks Lucky
  2. Thus balancing the field of battle
  3. In my humble opinion it's not the ARH missile but the AWACS and the other sensors that monitor the battles pace. An opposing force would need to blind the sensors so it is left to the individual fighter elements to hunt and acquire the air threats
  4. Hi, I'm modifying the Su-33.lua file to add Multiple Ejector Racks for the FAB-100 and FAB-250 and adding the R-77 missile. I was able to find the Codes for what I was looking for but I have a question in regards to the radar designation on the Lua file below. Sensors = { -- RADAR = "N-001", -- Original Radar RADAR = "N-011M", -- Su-30 Radar Set -- RADAR = "N-019M", -- MiG-29S Radar Set IRST = "OLS-27", RWR = "Abstract RWR" I switched the original radar found in the Su-27/Su-33 with the Su-30 Radar used by the Su-30.lua file which utilizes the R-77. Does changing the radar have any affect? Thanks, Lucky
  5. Hi everyone, Thanks again for all the great advice. Before, I forgot to have the carrier moving in the Mission Editor which definitely made the Carrier landing a bit sporty. Now with the help of a 30kt headwind by the carrier Kuznetsov, I'm getting more comfortable with Carrier Landings and actually enjoy them. Here's a screenshot of my best approach yet :smilewink: Can't wait for the next update to the Su-33 and the future DCS F/A-18 Sincerely, Lucky
  6. Thanks for the inputs. 250-280 KMH depending on weight is working out well with a 3 to 5 m/s sink. Only wish the "Ball" on the Kuznetsov worked but oh well just need to be patient for 2.0 and the Hornet modules to come on line. Thanks for the great advice Lucky
  7. Hi Guys, Quick Question. I know that in the Su-33, if you approach with the nose greater than 5 degrees nose up that you will scrape the nozzles and explode on impact and its a known bug. In order to ensure that I have a flat angle approach to the carrier (less than 5 degrees nose up), I'm flying my approach between 350 and 370 KMH. Is that OK or can I fly slower and avoid the Su-33 tail from scraping? Any thoughts, Thanks, Lucky
  8. The Su-27 modeled in DCS is about finesse and purposeful yet methodical movements. If you are flying the Flanker to the edge of the stall and hold it you will lose control instantly. If dogfighting at low to medium altitude 5000-6000m try to avoid hard maneuvering below 350 Km/hr. The plane will bleed speed quickly and you will lose control a whole lot faster. If you get below 350 km/h ease back on the stick to get the AOA down before you lose control. Also you need to trim, yes the real Su-27 is FBW but in this version you need to trim and trim agressively. Lastly it takes practice but it will soon become one of your best aircraft in the DCS fleet. Hope this helps.
  9. 98abaile, Here are two tracks showing how I land at Kutaisi (2500 m/8200 ft). It's not my best landing but I can walk away from them. The key is landing in the first 500 ft of the runway and aerobrake properly. In the F-15 I can put on the brakes at or below 100 kts (holding it for a couple seconds and release) Below 50 kts you can hold the brake pressure til it stops (i.e. hold the brake button) Aerobraking, I put the " W " symbol at 10-11 Nose up and hold it there till below 100 kts and then I lower the nose wheel. Do not try to aerobrake and brake at the same time because you will force the nose wheel down pretty hard. Hope this helps. Batumi X-Country 01.trk Batumi X-Country 02.trk
  10. Here is an updated .trk file with a MiG-25 Intercept Mission Details Altitude above 10,000 m Combined Closure Rate 2400 Km/h Locks and receives "Launch Authorized" steady at 50 Km At inside 45 km "Launch Authorized" starts flashing. Switched to R-27ET (IR) to attack bandits Hope this helps. I think it may be a radar guidance limitation for SARH missiles but I'm not sure. Thanks, Su-27S-Foxbat Intercept.trk
  11. Ironhand, I'll try to create an updated track file to see if it does it again. Thanks,
  12. I don't believe its a missile performance issue but a radar tracking/guidance issue. I posted this trk file in the Best Landings thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=142355&page=4 and it's the third group with the MiG-25 I don't know if its a bug or a true radar guidance limitation Thanks,
  13. Hi Everyone, I've noticed this while I was doing a head on intercept with a MiG-25. Target Speed 1350 Km/h My Speed 1300 Km/h Total Closure Speed 2600 Km/h I was getting an intermittent launch authorized message as I was approaching min range. My question is there a max closure speed for launching and R-27/R-27ER and if we do why? Thanks,
  14. Hi Everyone, Here's my track from a practice sortie I created but I was able to land at Nalchik with no brake parachute deployed and minimal braking. I flew the approach at 290/300 Km/Hr with Speed Brake out. Enjoy Su-27S Nalchik Defense 3.trk
  15. I agree, The Su-27 can dogfight, personally I know that I would need to ease up on agressive maneuvering when you start going below 350 KMH if not you will bleed off all your airspeed, lose control and risk getting yourself shot down which I have learned the hard way. The DCS Su-27 is one of the few aircraft that makes me really think about energy management and your control inputs. Cheers,
  16. Buzzles, Thanks for the advice. Now I can map the trim buttons. Just curious, the two lines I disabled what were they supposed to do code wise? Thanks,
  17. Chipwich, The PDI lights or Pilot Director Lights are the lights you use in conjunction with your visual references to know where you are in the boom envelope when you are in contact (i.e. connected) When looking at the KC-135 the U/D lights stand for Up and Down the ideal reference angle you are looking for is 30 deg or what we used to call the "Captain's Bars". So if you get a red up arrow (the arrow closest to the U), it means you are too low and need to climb up. Same concept if you get the red down arrow. You never want to go to either red because you may have a brute force disconnect which will increase your chances of your F-15 or A-10 to become a mythical unicorn. The F and A stand for forward and aft the ideal distance in the boom envelope is 12 ft. Again red is bad but being to far aft (red light to the F) is a lot better than being way too far forward (red light to the A) which will result in very bad things when you are literally underneath the tanker. Instructor Pilots in heavy aircraft teach their aircraft commander students boom limits demo to teach the student how much room you have in the boom envelope. By the way it is a lot easier to AR in real life than in the sim. Cheers,
  18. Vibora, Thank you so much. This is what I was looking for Cheers,
  19. Hi Everyone, Does anyone have any info on how the C-101 flies the Visual Overhead Pattern? Any info would be great Thanks,
  20. Juan Oscar, Is there some common tactical formation positions the Spanish Air Force practices for the C-101? And is there a common KIAS airspeed in which they usually fly formation (ex. 280KIAS, 290KIAS, 300KIAS)? I'm trying to build an SP mission in which the computer flies from Sochi to Senaki and the Player rejoins and tries to maintain formation within 500 ft and 1/2 nm. I'm still trying to figure out if I can put an A/A Tacan between each other like 29Y/62Y Any thoughts would be great and I love flying the little blackbird Cheers,
  21. Guys, jcbak's recommendation to install the x86 and x64 version of Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 worked. However, I had to uninstall both versions first and reinstall them again and it worked for me. The repair option did not work on my system. Thanks again for the advice Cheers
  22. JuanOscar, Thank you for the pictures. I will try it right away. Are there other formation positions besides close formation the Spanish Air Force teach their pilots? Cheers
  23. Hi guys, Are there some good visual references from the cockpit, the pilots use to maintain formation? I created a quick mission that I tried to maintain close visual formation with the L-39. The more I fly the C-101, the more I love it. Any words of advice would be much appreciated. Cheers
  24. Now that I figured out how to start the aircraft and realized I can actually tune TACANS and ILS in DCS world, I thought I would see how well this aircraft handles. I was able to fly Batumi to Kutaisi in IFR conditions. I attached the .trk file if other want to give it a try. It was nice to do some real instrument flying in DCS and it was nice to take a break from A/A and A/G combat for a bit. I'll try to build a mini campaign for it emphasizing instrument work and basic pilot training skills. Thanks again AvioDev for a very well designed aircraft Cheers, C101-Batumi-Kutaisi-IFR.trk
  25. AvioDev, I love flying this bird. It handles very smoothly and extremely docile. Can't wait for the combat version. Keep up the good work! Cheers
