need help ! Air Refuelling how to keep contact ? speed
zxrex replied to bin801's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Whenever I have problems staying connected it is usually because I'm focusing too much on the basket. If I catch myself doing that going back to focusing on my position relative to the tanker helps alot. -
When flying the Mirage I was getting what I feel was excessive sunlight reflections on the instruments and canopy. I tried the helmet sun visor and it took care of the problem. Not sure if the other problem aircraft have the visor option, but it's worth a try. I only fly in VR and will be doing some more tweaking. Load times are much improved with this update. Happy so far.

I've always thought that delta's had very good high AOA slow flight handling. Don't have time to research it now. Guess I need to dig into it later.

Are you aware that the quickstrike mine is just a JDAM with different fusing? USAF has dropped them from B1s and 52s. I'm guessing if they wanted to hang one on a 16 it wouldn't be too much trouble. Not sure on that just don't think the mines put a plus on the 18 side.

Nice! Works really well. Thanks!

A10s were designated as OA10s when assigned to units where their primary job was as a FAC. It was a change in name only with no physical differences, if I recall correctly. Not sure what units were FAC. Sorry no help on ser#s.

I checked and it's set to normal. Next time I'm on I will time it.

I was in the server earlier and had a problem some 51s. One was doing aerobatics over the field with his smoke on. Didn't really mind until he decided to buzz me very close when I was starting up and taxiing out. Others had crashed in several places and there was wreckage on the taxiway and runway. They weren't talking to the tower and were taking off from midfield. Almost collided with one taking off. Did a quick a2g flight and logged.

Just landed gear up and did a repair. Ox was refilled at the same time. If I want to keep flying same plane and I have no damage I'll put the landing lights at too high of a speed and do a repair to get ox.
-
Tried to do a repair. Apparently if you have no damage it doesn't work either. Guess I'll have to break something or just get a new airplane. The aircraft I currently fly irl don't need any more effort to refill ox than fueling them.
-
Searched forums and didn't come up with much. I can't get my ox bottle to refill. Also it seems to run out pretty quick. I tried a rearm and didn't get any ox that way. Anyone else have this problem or suggestions?

Good to hear. Hope to see more Migs up. Had another Sabre shoot at me today. Not sure if it was boredom or poor aircraft recognition. We were getting bandit calls for our area. Don't know if he thought I was a Mig.

I think this will be good for the environment. Everyone should get the Yak. DCS co2 emissions should drop dramatically. :)

Are you running VA as administrator?

Very cool!

Anyway we can get tacview to run? I had a fun fight with a mig today and I would have liked to have reviewed the flight, but was unable. I use it to learn from my mistakes and sometimes just want to see who I was fighting. I tried to replay the track to get it, but that didn't work. Otherwise really enjoying the server. Much appreciated!

Is there any flight planning information available. Power settings, speeds, fuel flows, etc?

Love the 21! Not perfect, but have a good time any time I take it out of the hangar. This is a PC game. Can't understand how people expect the features you would find in a multi million dollar simulator.

Was just watching a WW2 training video available from numerous sources showing High altitude flight and aerobatics in the P47. I found the part where they discuss the speed limitations for various altitudes interesting. I got the impression that the speeds were more for someone new to the plane. That the plane could exceed those speeds , but with care. Could just be me. In any case. Converting IAS to mach you come up with .74 at ISA. I know CAS or EAS would be better, but I thought .74 limit for new to the plane pilots pretty impressive.

Server down Is OC down? Haven't seen it up last couple of days.

Hi Hub, I've have been using both at the same time lately. It works well for me(except for 190s). The gyro sight has to be steady on target for a sec for it to be totally accurate. If you are pulling the nose through the target to get a solution the pipper will actually will be showing you need more lead then needed. From a previous game I was used to a fixed sight and was alot more comfortable with that, at first. Including making tracking shots. Now both seems to work. Depending on the shot I'm taking. Fixed for the snaps. Gyro for the tracking with a little english put in.

Was there a good sized spread? Curious as to their effectiveness. Guess I should give it a try.
-
Not sure if this is correct. Haven't tried it yet. Saw a vid where cbu's were dropped at high speed from around 150m agl in level flight. The pipper was visible due to the alt and speed, I guess.

A little info here. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=189680
