  1. Hey guys, want to practice some aeros in the TF-51D? Is it possible to activate smoke trail for this aircraft?
  2. The only problem im having right now is with ATC. If i say 'ATC, start up' it requests startup for london. If i say 'proxy select' or 'field 2 select" nothing happens and the log tells me its an incomplete command even though both words were recognized. Any ideas?
  3. Thanks for your feedback guys. Regardless, pitot tube shouldn't be icing over sheen flying VFR hence the bug question
  4. Not in real life...at least in general aviation. My training manual states turn on if below freezing and in cloud
  5. Was descending in clear skies last night with the pitot heat off and noticed my airspeed indicator dropped to 50kts. Switch pitot heat on and airspeed indicator returned to normal. Given the right temperature range for icing, pretty sure pitot tube can only block when descending through visible moisture i.e clouds. Bug?
  6. Hey Hollywood, just want to say too thanks for creating this. Ive been using VAICOM for a couple of weeks now and find it great. Quick question though: Im getting an Oculus Rift soon so I want to add my own commands to your profile such as "briefing" to open up the briefing window. Ive tried to add this command but its not working. Just wondering what the general procedure is for adding own commands to your profiles? In the example above im trying to bypass the need to use the mic switch.
  7. I can also confirm the Russian iglas manpads don't shoot
  8. Thanks Shagrat .... next question :) Why does my jammer activate for about 10 seconds and then go back to STBY? Here is the situation: -sa-6 straight ahead about 18nm -enter manual mode and activate jammer -jammer is operating for 10 seconds and then goes back to standby This happens whether i am being tracked/locked or not. In the F-15 when you activate the jammer, it stays activated.
  9. Paint it black by the stones
  10. So what does the rope do that appears to be holding down the front dash?
  11. Thanks for your help mate. Active pause command LShift+LWindows+Pause worked. With take control alt-J didn't work for me but if you hit ESC during the replay an option to 'take control' comes up.
  12. Hi guys, been playing for DCS 1.5 for awhile now and loving it. Have a few questions i cant seem to find an answer for though: - active pause: read about it but cant find the key command for this in game? - Take control of a replay: is this possible? Again read about it but cant find a key command for this also - ATC text in top left corner: Mine is doubled up with one being slightly offest and in bold. This may have something to do with VAICOM i recently installed. -Terrain Mesh: DCS 1.5 and particularly 2.0 is amazing - except for the terrain mesh. Whats the story with the low resolution especially the new nevada map which i thought would have much higher resolution? Is their an addon to improve this? Thanks :)
  13. Hi guys, finally decided to take the plunge into the world of BVR combat. Read the documentation, watch ironhands excellent videos on radar usage, and also setup a few basic missions to test it all out. Been scouring the internet and youtube for some good guides/tutorials on DCS F15 BVR but with not much luck. Any good info out there to read/watch for beginners? Any training missions that have been made that introduce you to to BVR combat? Or should i just setup my own quick missions and go from there?
  14. "YOU ARE FIRED!". Lol....got to watch those power lines!
  15. This looks great...can't wait to test this out, and my new Huey piloting skills
  16. I don't think it's anything to do with tracking... The views limits are baked in to certain module. I'm sure there must be a way of altering this?
  17. Is it possible to change is the imposed viewing limits with certain aircraft? For example in the huey with trackir, when i shift my view to the left (slide not turn) to check out the centre console i can only move a small distance before reaching some invisible barrier. Can this limit be increased somehow so i can lean more to the left?
  18. Thanks for the reply Chic. Pretty sure its not a function of trackir. Its pretty obvious when use lose trackir tracking. Also, I don't have this limit in most other planes and flight sims. The limit is baked into the huey module.
  19. Loving the Huey...really challenge to fly coming from fixed wing aircraft for the last 15 years but slowly getting the hang of it :) One thing id like to change is the imposed horizontal (x-axis) viewing limit with trackir. When i shift my view to the left (slide not turn) to check out the centre console i can only move a small distance before reaching some invisible barrier. Can this limit be increased somehow so i can lean more to the left? Thanks
  20. I had a play with one of these monitors at a friends place and was very impressed. The extra width really adds to the immersion. we ran one of the su25t training missions with everything maxed out and were averaging about 80 fps on his brand new computer.
  21. The radar scans out to infinity, although the longer the range the harder it is to resolve targets. The TDC therefore does not influence how far the radar scans, it only provides info on the upper and lower scan altitude at the range of the TDC. That's why the radar still picks up contacts at 60nm and beyond
  22. The radar is a cone that expands outwards. It has an upper and lower altitude limit whose values change depending on the distance from the aircraft. you can tilt this cone up and down but it doesn't close. if you tilt it all the way down it is still scanning part of the sky but at some point from the aircraft both the upper and lower limit of the cone will be at or below ground. in the last example, the tdc cursor is at 10nm. at this range the cone is below ground level as indicate by both circles being zero. if you move the tdc closer to the aircraft you will find these values eventually changing indicating the radar is scanning part of the sky at the range of the tic.... got it :)
  23. The numbers represent altitude at the range of the tdc cursor... in this case 10nm. This tutorial should help:
