Spitfire Prop Animation Cutting VR frames in Half
Precog replied to muse458's topic in Virtual Reality
I haven't noticed any problems. Frame rates seem fine my end. -
The secret of my success, take offs and landing roll outs
Precog replied to Damocles's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
I agree... I'd add the use of brakes when speed drops below 60 or so during the landing rollout -
(unable to reproduce) Oculus Rift goes black when rolling
Precog replied to Xpendable's topic in Bugs and Problems
I have the rift and I don't get have this problem.... Sorry. As for the mirror, do you have mirror turned on in the main settings? -
Great essay....thank you :) I start my real world tailwheel endorsement in a Citabria next month... I hope its not as challenging as the DCS spitifire, otherwise my training school better have good insurance policy! It took me a couple of hours of frustration and 30 wrecked spitfires before I could finally takeoff and land the spitfire consistently. Can't imagine what it would be like with a gusty crosswind in real life. How much does the bitumen surface play a part in the ground handling of the spitfire? I thought i read that grass makes handling a lot easier - and I wonder if this will be modelled in the Normandy map. On a side note, I find the DCS p51 mustang much easier to takeoff and land than the spitfire - I guess all aircraft are different. I'm hoping the Citabria will be gentle with me otherwise Im going back to 'normal' planes :)'

Spitfire first take-off; first "landing" observations
Precog replied to beagleRampant's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
That's the usual philosophy. Apply aileron into the crosswind during takeoff to prevent the upwind wing from lifting. In the SIM with nill wind the spit seems to have the left wing a little low during takeoff - a bit of right aileron helps to keep the wings level resulting in a clean takeoff. Not sure if this is realistic but it helps. Just do whatever it takes to keep the wings level. -
(No error) Wheres the inclinometer (the ball)
Precog replied to BlueJacketGuy's topic in Bugs and Problems
In wings level flight they are. As for wind, don't confuse yaw with drift. Wind is irrelevant. If the wings are level and the nose isn't yawing (turning) you are co-ordinated regardless of the wind. simple as that. -

You dont need a ball anyway. Level the wings and look out the cockpit - if there is yaw your not flying coordinated. -
At what point will VR tech "look like" 1080p?
Precog replied to Cavemanhead's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Eye tracking and foveated rendering technology is the key to powering these high res displays. The future looks bright...I mean sharp! -
Never experienced it. Sorry.

I haven't had any problems with the rift microphone and voice attack. Sorry to hear your having problems.

I've always got low frame rates on that harbor tour, even before 1.5.5. Something to do with that one particular town looking over the harbour.

Here is the scenario: I spot a target visually (say IR SAM) and want to be able to get my targeting pod on the area to pinpoint the SAM. At the moment what I'm doing is maneuvering the plane around towards the area where the SAM launched, create a SPI by moving the TDC cursor, and then slewing the targeting pod to the SPI so that I can try and pinpoint the SAM. Just wondering if there is a better way to do this? Especially the part of trying to slew the TDC cursor over the suspected target area to create a SPI. Don't particularly want to be diving towards a target trying to get the TDC near the target.

I have a 970 with shadows on low and pixel density set to 1.5 and average around 45 most of the time. It is very playable even when frames drop below 45 ... Doesn't really bother me. My main gripe is resolution. I also fly fsx and the DCS vr experience is way better. Tbh, after 3 months I'm still blown away. The future is going to be incredible for this hobby of ours.

So how well does Asynchronous Space Warp work in DCS?
Precog replied to RoyMi6's topic in Virtual Reality
Its probably working but you can't tell. Turn up your settings to lower your frame rate say 30fps . You can tell asw is working when you look out the side of the cockpit while rolling. It's smooth but you may see some artifacts. With asw off I get micro stuttering. All this is done with the numpad in-game. -

Yes..numeric keypad to the right. That is what I use and it works. -

I use the numpad. Maybe give that a go. -

The other modes work for me. -
Great idea...I'm surprised this isn't implemented already.

Yurgon, you understood my original question. However, the +/- rocker on the CDU only cycles waypoints when in Mark or Mission.
