Okay, maybe I'm missing something but I've checked the manual and GUI manual. The map doesn't give the name of the various perminent airbases, is there somewhere these can be determine without setting up a mission and making a radio call or check the mission log? I like to include that kind of data in my mission briefs when creating missions. Anyone create a listing or map reference? Thanks

Are you afraid of the dark? Will the boogeyman get you? I know that the Ka50 has very limited capability for night combat operations, but how about a nice cross country training flight? This is about a 30 minute flight....in the dark. Time to build up some night flying time rookie. http://www.4shared.com/file/10867189...avigation.html

Part of what happened (and what was changed) was that on the Mountain Road mission there are random events........<grin> I started the mission and no enemy showed up!!! Now what was the odds of that???? It should have been very rare. It does make the flight easier!

I've made a few changes - sorry! The manual says that mission failure is <50%, parity is 50%, and success is >50%. The mission goals give points but doesn't equate neccessarily to a totally successful mission - 100%. I adjusted my points to more fully equate to a 100% successful mission. Amongst a few other changes. Sorry but here are the new missions: http://www.4shared.com/file/108575756/b4190050/2-Ship_Combat.html http://www.4shared.com/file/108576580/f9e5a0a8/Mountain_Road.html These changes were made 05/29/09 11:10 AM CDST and I also changed the initial posting.

I have been playing with the mission editor and have created a couple of single player missions that some of you may find interesting. My current computer and graphics card only allow me to run things at medium settings so these missions have limited but challenging activity. Mountain Road is a single Ka50 attack mission. Pit you wit against an insurgent convoy in a canyon limited battleground. 2-Ship Combat pits you and your wingman against an insurgent enemy who took over a hilltop village. I created this mission to learn and practice Data Link techniques. Hope you enjoy them? Removed old links. I've made a few changes - sorry! Pilot's nationality Russian. Mission set for Russian. I flew the Shooting Range mission and still no credit. Someone said I should have active somewhere in the Pilot log: My Pilotlog looks like this..... logbook = { players = { [1] = { invulnerable = true, awards = { [0] = { [1] = "Courage Order", }, -- end of [0] }, -- end of awards picture = "", squadron = "59th TAC FTR SQ", password = "removed code", callsign = "New callsign", name = "New Pilot", games = { }, -- end of games lastGame = 1, statistics = { agKills = 31, killRatio = "33/5", missionsCount = 0, ejections = 0, totalScore = 225, flightHours = 2460.497, daytime = 2460.497, commissioned = "04/13/09", campaignsCount = 0, static = 0, deaths = 3, landings = 0, fagKills = 0, nighttime = 0, aaKills = 2, naval = 0, faaKills = 0, }, -- end of statistics countryId = 2, rank = "Second lieutenant", }, -- end of [1] [2] = { invulnerable = true, awards = { [2] = { }, -- end of [2] [0] = { [1] = "Courage Order", [2] = "Medal of Courage", }, -- end of [0] }, -- end of awards picture = "", squadron = "344 TsBP Torzhok", password = "code taken out", callsign = "Speedbrake", name = "Speedbrake", games = { }, -- end of games lastGame = 1, statistics = { agKills = 141, killRatio = "141/34", missionsCount = 0, ejections = 1, totalScore = 867, flightHours = 114491.072, daytime = 106166.512, commissioned = "04/14/09", campaignsCount = 0, static = 0, deaths = 2, landings = 93, fagKills = 0, nighttime = 8324.56, aaKills = 0, naval = 0, faaKills = 0, }, -- end of statistics countryId = 0, rank = "Captain", }, -- end of [2] }, -- end of players currentPlayerName = "Speedbrake", } -- end of logbook I haven't started a campaign yet. Does mission count only include campaign missions? I do not show "active" anywhere.

Okay - found the answer to question 3 on page 7-29 of the manual. You have to be above 200m or they won't release. I was at 100m!

EtheralN - yes it was Russian because the message sent to me when it blew up was that I had killed friendlies and that command as p*ssed at me! I will double check the "active" but the fact that it credits me with the flight time and mission kills kind of tells me that I am active under that callsign and pilot name. (3) As for the producers note - Matt had put some kind of a box on the moving map for the area he wanted to bomb. I'll have to go back to the manual on that. Also he used the standby HUD display. He pressed and held down the drop button until he passed over the "boxed area". I will have to review the note again. Maybe you have to get off the normal HUD and the bombs don;t drop until you release the button. I'll have to investigate further.

(1) Pilot is and was set at "invulnerable". That wasn't it. (3) I will have to check the producers note. I didn't see anything about altitude and speed in the manual writeup about carrying bombs. Any other possibilities???

Three problems: (1) I have the English version of BS. I have not been getting credit for any of the missions I have flown. I get the hours of flight time, total, day, and night but no "Mission" credit. I have created a few missions and whenever I fly them the same thing - good hours, kills, but no Mission. I am flying with a Russian pilot, in a Russian Ka50, and I have my pilots name in the mission editor-mission box. What's the deal? (2) When I fist set up - I was using an USA pilot and I flew the first of the Target ID training missions (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=37467&highlight=Vehicle). I had a US pilot, pilot name, but Russian Ka50 (didn't notice it at first). The target opened up with AAA on me so I killed both of them. It turned out that they were US vehicles so I was credited (to my shame) with killing two friendlies. That is when I chaned to a Russian pilot since all the Target ID missions were created from the Russian viewpoint. However, as a Russian pilot when I killed a Russian vehicle (by mistake) I was not credited with a friendly kill. Is this a bug? (3) How do you drop a bomb from the Ka50? It shows up in the weapons selection and I can select them, but they won't drop. The manual doesn't imply that you do anything different then when you fire a AGM. Am I missing something? I checked the bug forum but didn't see where either situation was determined to be a bug. Any solutions?

F10 map view - friendly forces?
Speedbrake replied to goldfinger35's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
There is a setting in the mission editor that allows the mission creater to select hidden. Maybe he wanted YOU to make a correct identification. -
How to randomize column's composition and arrangement?
Speedbrake replied to joker62's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Jack McCoy, I will be the first to say that I haven't dug into the manual on this yet but I tried your mission and also looked at it in the mission editor. If you are trying to get one of four "units" to show up based on a randon selection, don't you have to have four (4) units defined? Under units you only have the one, a Ural-375 truck????? On the trigger listing you say "random 1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc. Of course I may be missing your whole attempt here. -
Thanks Mustang! Say it looks like you may be a few feet short of a real horse! :smilewink:

For some reason my computer thought that Teka's Coastline Mod contained a virus and the system deleated it. Teka's website was taken down months ago, does anyone have a good download link or could upload it to Lockonfiles.com? Thanks!

A bunch of questions about flying the Shark - trk attached
Speedbrake replied to advent_m's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
If I am understanding your question #3 about the autopilot. To fly a pre-programmed route (one showing on the ABBRIS) you need to select waypoint and then the number of that waypoint (airport and number if going to an airbase or if it is your final point on a route) and then you engage the autopilot by hitting "R" or your setup collective button. If the autopilot is on you will notice a difference between DH and DT when going over uneven terrain. -
Dusty - it was your missions that I am flying that shows that I might need some kind of "in cockpit" recongition chart - must like a submarine commander! LOL! By the way, I was flying under the US flag but since your missions are geared to a Russian Ka-50 I was shot at in the first mission and therefore killed the two vehicles. Duh! I killed my own guys and was hammered for it. I didn't notice in your post (missed it) that you need to be an Eastern block heilo. It didn't say that in the mission notes. I have since changed the flag under which I fly - at least when flying your ID missions. :joystick: Sharkfin61, that is what I was looking for! I can change out the German. Thanks! It saves me a lot of time starting from scratch.

Just curious if anyone has put together a target photo file or silhouette page? I know the program has the encyclopedia but it sure would be nice to have something to refer to while flying. Also something that is arranged by country.

Okay, your investigate it further question made me look deeper into the controls. I'm afraid that I was thinking inside the box and not outside of it. In other words I was stuck in the "Fixed Wing" box. I was setting up the "Throttle" control to Joy_Z when I needed to set the "Flight Control Collective" or at least it seems that way from my initial test. That's my story and I'm sticking with it! DOH! :pilotfly: All is well with the world once again! Thanks for the responses.

I just got my BS DVD and have been exploring the simulation. I have my Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS controls programed in (or I thought I did). In Game mode my throttle functions as I thought it would. However in Ka-50 Real mode it doesn't seem to function at all, collective control seems to be num +/-. In the Options Control set-up the Throttle shows the correct movement (Joy_Z). What am I missing??? Doesn't the TM throttle simulate the collective as in EECH? Yes, I've checked the manual - the setup seems good????? Controls were set in both Game and Real modes.
