  1. A Viggen video with some Short snippets displaying the Radar Screen in action. Personally i think it looks very close to what we have seen from the ingame videos so far =P. (It shows the Radar in action at 1:15,1:40 and 2:37)
  2. Och Norrland =( men Norrland glöms ju alltid bort så vi är vana.
  3. That event will be great though in showing how much of a Combat ready State it is in.
  4. Or why not simply use one of the Official Marches for one of the Viggen wings? Since those should not be that expensive should they? From a quick google search this appears to be the March of the F7 Wing that flew the AJS 37. And this was the march for the F 15 wing that also flew the AJS 37. Or maby one of the Airforce Parade marches? Sure these might be a bit more oldschool but hey they are official marches ^^.
  5. This is my Vote ^^. Not only does it fit the AJS timeframe but i also think our American Friends will like it ^^.
  6. And you are sure that you have turned the Master arm on (ARM GUNS/MSL&CAMR). (Since air start its usually automatically on i think).
  7. as for the RB 05 and Air-Air that would only really be used against transports and helicopters but mainly Helicopters and especially if they were flying low. And for that they should be "ok" enough if there is no better suited weapon loaded. I dont think the idea was to Load with RB 05s and go hunting for Helicopters and Transports but rather if you have them loaded and you come across enemy helicopters or transports flying low and slow then it could be used against them with a decent chance of hitting the target (or Damaging it with a near miss if they were flying low). But the Gunpods or Air-Air missiles were by far the preferred weapon for Air-Air. But in general the RB 05A was a very versatile weapon that could be used against targets on the Land the Sea or in the Air (Though the first 2 where the more effective areas). And as for the suggestion to use the AGM 65s instead i think it would be very hard to try to get a weapons lock on a aircraft with a AGM-65A while flying when you dont have a targeting pod like the A-10C does (id think it would be hard getting a lock with Any AGM 65 variant without the targeting pod to lock the target with) and against a slow target that could not do fast evasive maneuvers the RB 05A might actually have been viable, At least against helicopters and especially against larger transport helicopters (like the Mi-6 and Mi-26) and it would be likely that Helicopters (and especially the large transport helicopters) could play a significant role in supplying and reinforcing a bridgehead in the initial stage. And Mi-6 and Mi-26 should not have been to difficult targets for an experienced pilot even if using RB 05As (Since they are very Large and not that nimble)
  8. The year was 1981 so Those were AJ 37s (All AJ 37s had been delivered and were in service by then and the last of the A 32 Lansen were retired in 1978 ) It was one of the very few times where AJ 37s took off fully armed with RB 04Es and with pilots aware that hey might very well have to use them.
  9. Well Sweden might not have been able to stand up to all Soviet forces. (But then again no Nation other then the US had a realistic chance at that 1vs1) But all the most likely cold war scenarios where the soviets invaded were as a part of a over all war against nato (and its uncertain that Nato would just stand by if the Soviets did an unjustified invasion as the danger it would represent for Nato would be significant if Soviet forces occupied Sweden) And that that point it would depend on how much the soviets were able to focus on Sweden and how much they had to keep elsewhere. The idea was never that the Swedish military would defeat the soviets alone but to make it difficult enough to effect the overall outcome of the war or where the soviets would decide it was not worth it and focus their troops against nato instead. And its also likely that if Swedish forces where able to hold out for long enough they would be getting support from Nato forces since it was very much in their favor if Sweden did not fall completely to soviet forces (as the Soviets could then close the Baltic and also get into the Nato flank by rushing into Norway and attacking Denmark). Swedens goal would be similar to that of Finland in the Winter war and ww2 in general that is to inflict heavy enough casualties and make a victory hard enough for the enemy so that they decide its not worth it and become open to a political solution / end to hostilities. The outcome from Sweden very much depended on how it went for the Nato forces in Nato and Germany. If those front held or even better were able to push the Soviets back then the odds for Sweden looked up as it would be unlikely that the soviets would be able to send more troops to Sweden as they would be much more needed elsewhere or be forced to outright pull their troops out of Sweden to try to Fortify the other Fronts. But if the Soviets where winning on those fronts then Sweden would have no chance of holding out in the end.
  10. If you think the Gazelle if hard to land (on a specific point) i would love to watch you try the Mi-8 xD I started on the Mi-8 so when i got the Gazelle i fount in incredibly easy in comparison (had heard people saying the Gazelle was difficult so i was worried but when i got it i found it was a Joy to fly and to land in comparison to the Mi-8 that will try and kill you for the slightest mistake you make).
  11. Far from it. Actually the reason for the Development of the Aim-9P series was to get a cheaper missile with still decent performance (better then the older Aim-9 Variants) for use for less important tasks or for nations that the US did not want to export Aim-9Ls to. So the Aim-9L is superior to even the best of the Aim-9Ps (Aim-9P5) but was also more expensive so many nations (including the US) acquired both, So for peace time and less risky tasks they would not have to waste a Aim-9L but could carry a cheaper missile instead. (as the number of Flight hours and Takeoffs/landings for missile like the Aim-9 is limited before it might become less reliable). And not all aircraft were able to use the Aim-9L or Aim-9M (as they had some requirements that the Aim-9P or older missiles did not have).
  12. The two main Aim-9s for the Viggen will be the rear aspect RB 24J (Aim-9J) and RB 74 (Aim-9L). The Aim-9P is based on the Aim-9J (And the Aim-9P5 is the last of the Aim-9P variants with an All aspect seeker) And the Aim-9L is the first All Aspect Aim-9 and is the predecessor to the Aim-9M (The Aim-9M is based on the Aim-9L but with improved performance especially against countermeasures). The RB 74 (Aim-9L) will be better then the Aim-9P5 (the seeker should be more powerful especially in all aspect situations and it will be superior in maneuverability and range etc) but the Aim-9P5 will be superior to the Rb 24J (Aim-9J). You will also have the RB 24 which is based on the Aim-9B but i dont think that weapon will be used much (and it was not used long on the AJ before it was retired and had long been retired before the AJS 37 upgrade). But in general the missiles should be capable especially the RB 74/Aim-9L should be very effective (comparable to the Aim-9M in agility and range etc)
  13. Its the wrong variant first of all (Fighter Viggen and not attack Viggen) But im sure it might be done either way (if not by Leatherneck themselves then for certain by modders).
  14. Well first maby they simply wanted to make a Attack Viggen instead of a Fighter Viggen (and for an Attack Viggen the AJS 37 would be more modern then the initial AJ 37). And secondly it would be harder to get all the info as the JA 37D especially has allot of systems that might still be classified (or atleast much harder to get full access to). And it also makes more sense to add a strike Viggen atm due to the aircraft roster in the game. Since there are no fast strike aircraft and no aircraft with Anti-ship missiles in the game atm and also no aircraft with Air-Ground radar so the AJS 37 will be first with all those things. Where as the JA 37 would be just another modern 1980s fighter just like many of the fighters already in game with similar performance and weapons capabilities and thus would not really add allot of new capabilities to the game.
  15. You might be able to replace the Beeps and the Boops with Bork Bork Borks though ^^
  16. on the AJS there are 2 pylons that are Aim-9 only. But the other 4 weapons pylons can also carry the Aim-9s.
  17. Yes but it would be carried in a separate pod on one of the inner wing pylons sacrificing one weapon (It was the same thing with the Jammer so if you wanted the Jammer Pod and the Chaff/Flare pod you lost two weapons pylons). But it was never planned that all aircraft in a flight would carry their own countermeasure pods but rather one or 2 aircraft in the flight would have countermeasures and would support the others by laying chaff corridors etc (as the pod contained a large number of chaff for this reason). And since the formation was usually pretty tight so one or two aircraft releasing chaff and flares or using jammers where supposed to protect the entire formation. (Atleast that i my understanding) But the primary defensive tactic would be the low flying at high speed making it hard for the enemy to find and try to fire at you before you had already attacked and left.
  18. If you have the target location then yes. You need to either have the target coordinates before hand and insert them to have the weapons know where to go. Or work together with a Jtac or another aircraft with the ability to Pinpoint target Coordinates (A-10C with targeting pod for example). You can also use the Radar to select an area and feed the coordinates to the weapon (atleast that is what i have gathered) but since the radar is not optimized to see small targets (Tanks, vehicles or even small buildings) it will be trickier and it could need some skill to get good at it (will have to see how it plays out ingame). But the best tactic would probably be getting the coordinates beforehand (if they are fixed and known defences) or getting the data from another aircraft or a Jtac that way you can simply program the weapons fly in at a very low altitude 10-100m which would make it hard for most air defences to engage you at range and then do a high speed release once in range at a slight angle (so you dont have to close to much to the target) and leave at the same low altitude until beyond sam range. This technique should be usable even against more advanced systems as Tor unless the terrain is 100% flat. One could also try to use the Maverick though that would likely require you to get even closer (and you would also need to visually find the target instead of just following nav / targeting cues). the BK90 is not gonna be a god weapon but it should be interesting and should be effective when employed correctly (if its modeled correctly atleast). And as for range low altitude employment should be 8-10km (Weather and Terrain will effect the range as the glide bomb will try to maintain its altitude according to its radar altimiter so going uphill or down hill can alter the range) and the later sister of the BK 90 named AFDS for (Autonomous Free-flight Dispenser System) that is in use with Greece was based on the BK 90 but modified / upgraded to be able to be deployed from either low or high altitude and at altitudes of 6100m it had a range of up to 22km but since the BK 90 for the Viggen is only optimized for low altitude drops we will have to do with 8-10km (heading directly at the target) or 4-5km (if the target is 90 degrees of the heading) but either way flying low and fast enough should make it possible to get close enough even against more heavily defended targets.
  19. Actually that Stick is the Radar controller. Its used to Slew the radar etc as well as change radar modes etc. The Control for the RB 05 is on the other side (right side) of the cockpit and is not a proper joystick.
  20. None in English that i know of sadly. Though Googeling can get you some way when it comes to gathering info in English. But i (and others here) would be more then happy to answer any questions you might have about it. So ask away either on this thread or send me a PM and i would be more then happy to help. Me and the other Viggen Nerds on this forum are more then happy to proselytize on the subject of the Viggen ^^ And the AJS 37 in particular as that is what we are getting in DCS.
  21. Like Pocket sized let me know just a little while ago. just enter the letters that are after Watch?v= so in this case BfVkZpFirfE just put that between the [Youtube] tags. and this should be the result.
  22. Well if you are gonna want to use the Afterburner on max for any prolonged period of time you are gonna want that extra fuel tank.
  23. either that or the stream is gonna be started with this. ^^
  24. Less then 1 hour remaining now. Edit: Thank you Pocket.
  25. Indeed Finally!. Now we can start doing dedicated threads on the different areas so its actually possible for people to navigate around to find what they want instead of the old system of the AJS 37 where basically everybody had to ask due to the amount of pages the thread had. Since very few people me included can bother with going through 368 pages of posts (3680 posts and counting) to see if whatever they wanted to know had already been answered.
