The RBS 15 we are getting is the RBS 15F. The RBS 15M (MK1),and the Mk2/MK3 variants are all Ship or ground launched variants. The RBS 15F is the Air launched variant of the RBS 15M and is the variant the AJS 37 will be carrying.

We has a similar incident when we were out with our boat when i was young but it was a SK 60 (Saab 105) and not a Viggen. Bloody thing almost took out the tip of our mast it felt like ^^.

Ive not really had this Radar bug that some people are talking about =P. I rarely loose lock unless the enemy is notching or maneuvering hard.

Yea i hope it does not take long before someone manages to kill a F-15 or Su-27 on a MP server with a RB05 and takes a screenshot of it ^^. That will be even worse then getting killed by a AGM-65 ^^. And im very happy at all the non Swedes that are Excited about the Viggen =).

And thats one of the reasons why i do it (and im sure one of the reasons that other swedes to it as well). Majority of Swedes are very proud of the Viggen and its loved by pretty much all Swedes that are interested in fighter jets etc. Where as outside of Sweden its not as well known so it would not have the same interest internationally as a F/A-18C or F-14A/B and as such i love to try to get people interested in the Viggen by talking about it and spreading info about it. While at the same time trying to educate people on the differences on the different Viggen variants and what to expect from the AJS 37 (so people dont expect a fighter Viggen with BVR missiles from the 1980s with advanced systems and get disappointed when what they are getting is the 1970s Attack variant with some minor 1990s changes). We Swedes love the Viggen so we want you guys to as well ^^. And this is also a perfect time for the Viggen since it will bring new features and a new breath of fresh air to the game as there is nothing like the AJS 37 Viggen in DCS (Mach 2 capable Anti-Ship/Attack aircraft with funky 1970s tech and a old school air-ground radar).

The only reason why this thread still works even though it has so many pages making digging for info hard is the fact that everybody is so helpful. I dont think i have ever seen somebody telling someone to find it yourself on this thread. If someone asks a question others will always try to answer them and that to me is what makes for a good forum/thread.

Mongolf what are you on about?... And why are you after Renhanuxe... He never said that Sweden should have used a US RWR or that we needed a US RWR... Another User asked why Sweden did not purchase something like the AN/ALR-46 from the US instead of developing our own RWR (that he thought was inferior probably just by comparing the displays). Me and others answered and explained it to him and after the explanation Renhanuxe added that such a deal in the early 70s could also have been problematic due to politics. He never once claimed that We needed a US RWR system or that we could not develop our own... He simply stated that at the time period where the AN/ALR-46 first entered service (early 1970s) Swedish-US relations were not at its best. So i have no idea why you are continuing saying that he does not care about the lives of the Swedish airmen that died during the cold war etc... Since that was never a part of the conversation...

The GBU-12 is laser guided. And the M-2000 is not able to laze the target. So without Jtac (or other external source lazing the target) the GBU will always fall ballistic. (as you cant designate a target for the GBU by painting the target with a laser) Picking a CCRP target is not the same as Lazing a target or giving target coordinates to a weapon. There is no real point in carrying GBUs if you dont have somebody or something lazing for you since at that point you are better off just carrying regular Mk82s.

its a bit sad that since we only have 1 Viggen thread all talk of the viggen is here be it talk about release date information about the aircraft, videos / pictures or just unrelated chatter =P. Thats the reason we have 300 pages at this point and it makes it alot harder to search through the pages for information. Since i doubt many ppl would go through all 300 pages to look for any information instead of just asking in their own post. And is why i long for a separate Viggen forum since it would make for an easier time with dedicated threads for Specs and questions etc.

And also are you sure that a AN/ALR-46 would be superior to the system used by the Viggen in all ways that was important? But more importantly what was developed first? the Viggen system or the AN/ALR-46. The Viggen was well into development in the mid-late 60s when the US developed and started to equip RWR systems to their fighters. Im having trouble finding an exact date for the AN/ALR-46 but the best i can find puts development and service entry in the early 70s. and if that is the case the AJ 37 was already in service at that point and the RWR system it used was already developed and in full production / service. So at that point it would be much more expensive and much more complicated to change the RWR system (as it would require a Redesign of the cockpit as well as possible changed to the Computer system of the aircraft etc as it might not have been compatible). And then we get to the point if the US would even be willing to sell a AN/ALR-46 to Sweden in the early 70s when it was brand new. So even if the AN/ALR-46 was superior (in atleast some ways) at the point when it entered service and was open for export to Sweden its unlikely that they thought the extra cost needed to acquire the RWR system and then to modify the Viggen enough to were it would be compatible was worth whatever advantage it had. The RWR system on the Viggen (AJ/SF/SH) was one of the early RWR systems so sure while it might seem outdated from our eyes it was top of the line when it was developed, and at that time there were not that many other systems around to base their work on (atleast not that they were allowed full access to) so they developed a new system that was as good as they could make it and made it according to the needs of the Swedish airforce and the AJ 37.

How about a "Cobra weekly screenshot?"
mattebubben replied to Spacehamster's topic in Heatblur Simulations
That also works ^^. -
Well the largest reasons back then was first the mission types it was designed for did not require more air-air missiles, and second the fact that the wing pylons available at the time generated a significant amount of drag to the point were they saw the reduction in performance to be a larger negative in Air-Air combat then the extra 2 missiles would be. This is not a Air superiority fighter and neither was it supposed to be. The number of missiles you have does not matter as much as how you use them. And if it could have easily been done by customers some would likely have done it. But as it is only F-5Es with very major overhauls / upgrades are able to carry 4 air-air missiles.

Looks great and im looking forward to fly it =).

This is the video without the audio issue. and i might as well add some other nice viggen videos that have been listed on the thread before (but many pages back) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEyY2Q37sYQ Most of those videos are of the Recce variants though (SF and SH) and the last video is an interesting video from the Sk 37 training variants that were modified to serve as ECM aircraft.

I would love a F-16A block 15. Either a Pre 1987 Block 15 (early) or Post 1987 Block 15 (Block 15 OCU). I feel like a OCU would probably be ultimate as it would peace more people in that it can use AGM-65s as well as BVR weapons (including Aim-120) while keeping the Old Cockpit of the earlier F-16As (other then a new hud) and being unable to carry a targeting pod etc. Thus it would be able to represent the old F-16As while having increased capabilities etc. And the Block 15 OCU was pretty common as all F-16A Block 15s made after 1987 were of OCU standard and Many F-16A block 15s were also upgraded to OCU standard after the fact. Personally i would be 100% fine with a earlier F-16A variant but i think more ppl would be happy with a Block 15 if it had AGM-65s and Aim-120 capability. But yea if we are just gonna make wishes there is a thread for that ^^. And i have not seen anything pointing towards a Belsimtek F-16 (even though that would be awesome especially if they made a F-16A).

The point Goes to Microvax. Its a SH 37 (or a AJSH 37) the Ocean Recce variant. Just as you did The easiest ways to narrow it down is to look at the Radar Screen as only the AJ and SH (The SK had a dummy screen but its easy to tell apart for other reasons) has that old round type of radar Screen. The Second way and that lets you tell apart the AJ and SH is looking to the right of the hud again like you did is by looking for the VID. If there is no VID (Maverick sight there) then its a SH 37 unless the picture is mid-early 1970s as the AJ 37 did not get the VID untill mid-late 70s when it got the AGM-65 capability. And if that case you can ID the SH by the fact that in the area where the VID should be you instead have a Row of buttons. This is an example of a SH 37 picture with the buttons very visible. But yea we have taught you guys well in the ways of the viggen ^^. And soon my friends we will hopefully be able to put all that training into action.

And also related to that Video. Extra Points for anybody able to id the Viggen variant by looking at the cockpit. Its not super difficult to guess right but you need some basic Viggen Knowledge. Would be especially impressed if a non swede gets it right.

Neither do i. As long as they dont do it over my house and my car is not nearby then i dont see any problem with that. And actually on the Topic of the Viggen and Super Sonic passes. Many years ago (think it was early 90s or very late 80s) a Viggen Pilot (who was a childhood friend of my father) did a super sonic pass at about 150-200m above a town in "Northern" Sweden Called Härnösand. The other pilots in the flight said he would not dare to do it so ofc he did xD (it was his home town). Not surprisingly there were a "Few" windows broken and a deal of outrage from the city officials etc and he got a warning from the airforce but that was that. What a horrible and boring job being a Fighter Pilot in peace time must be ^^.
-
Although a mach 0.9 pass at 50m (since supersonic would probably not be allowed) would have been amazing.

Aim 9p fire on their own causing friendly fire
mattebubben replied to leadlag's topic in Bugs and Problems
My guess would be that he Jettisoned with the missiles selected. And Leadlag are you the guy from the F-5E vs Mig-21 server? (a guy flew there today and had problems with the missiles being launched by accident?) Especially since if its the same guy he said at one time that the missiles fired when he jettisoned his droptank. -
I think i might have found a bug/problem on the Map Operation Northern Light. When you use the first Spawn for the Gazelle SA 342M as the Red side (Farp in DK 78 ) both me and my friend were unable to arm. We request to be armed but never get a Copy or any weapons (or fuel) But if we try with the 342Ms based at Krymsk there is no problem. Could it be a bug with the Farp / Mission?.

Your damn right your vacation is over :ranting:. Get back to work slave!!! we need our Viggen Finished :smilewink: Ps. all makt åt tengil vår befriare!

Tail rotor assembly randomly falling off?
mattebubben replied to Redlinebuzz's topic in Bugs and Problems
Were you multi-crewing? Since ive had this problem a few times when trying to multi crew (the tail falling off). Some times the Tail even falls of before take off when you multi crew. And are you sure you were not over torquing it? no red lights flashing even for a moment?. (throttle never close to max?)
