Its useless to ask why flight modelling and aerodynamics is so varietly different from module to module even its strictly geometry based and geometry is perfectly fine. That means that DCS flight modelling is not geometry dependent aside from systems interface operation and ordinance deployment workflow. From my perspective, its waste of time and resources. Bug report - Multiplayer LAG issues
jackmckay replied to Johnny_Rico's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
LAG in MP is reason of all of my frustrations in DCS. I've been here for almost 5 years and I don't count time spent on LOMAC & FC but LAG is still here. In my opinion, ED should cut all other activities and find a solution for this desync problem. Some of my squad mates said that they will not play DCS MP until LAG is fixed and I fully understand them. DCS is losing so much players and money because of this problem as comparing to some other sims that have flawless performance with 100+ players in MP, DCS cant serve 20 without excessive disposition. That's no good. -
SiThSpAwN, I must apologize for this little thread interruption regarding wingless landing case explanation. I hope that I demystified that case enough but its up to each personal belief weather one will accept solid facts or not and there my story ends. Regarding this thread, I urge everyone to proceed with this topic if one has material for it. Regards. ... ... ... ...

Well it could be that ED has modeled its F15 damage model in relation to IAF incident claims. It doesnt mean that but shurely it looks like based by F15 vids posted above. Conspiracy, nah, but lack of flight dynamics understanding and logic, for sure. Just to ad to this 'cospiracy theory': why didnt jet fuel ignite after pilot engaged afterburners in 'stabilization process' while fuel spraying all over the place? C'mon wise guys? It can have 20 wheels but if you spin them up that high it will blow up as force between 200 and 260kts is allmost 1.7-2 safety margin increase. If I would tell that story as pilot involved I would smile and express that event way more relaxed than that IAF pilot. He's lying man. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What weight has with friction on touchdown, right? 200kts vs 260kts is what safety margin factor as CF force is square multiplied by rpm increase meaning that force on tire is exponentialy increased by speed gain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So how long would take fuel to exit tru wing root? Wingman didnt saw missing wing becouse fuel instantly transformed into wing shape? Sr71 flies mach3 with gear down? Its Gear bay temp is what? What about sr71 weight on touchdown compared to f104? ... Goodyear's f15 tyre LS limit is what? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Correction, something on the ground hit plane's wing - but well never know that for sure . Read: https://theaviationist.com/2014/09/15/f-15-lands-with-one-wing/ Listen: Quote from article: "As told by Easley, it was only after he turned back to shake his instructor’s hand, that Zivi discovered that he had flown and landed without a wing!" Quote from video by pilot: "I told my wingmen to inspect me.." Landing at 260 knots (~300mph, ~480kmh)? https://www.quora.com/What-aircraft-has-the-highest-landing-speed Blackbird has special ceramic coated (white) tires for its landing speed, X-15 skids.. Tires: https://www.goodyearaviation.com/tires/tire-line-details.html?search=all&sortorder=70 F-15 - 200 knots max landing speed.. “According to an early edition of 'the Guinness book of world records' the X15 also holds the record for fastest landing speed at 242 mph (~210knots) compared with 210 mph for the space shuttle.” MD: "After the mishap, McDonnell Douglas, inquired by the Israeli Air Force, affirmed that it was impossible for an F-15 to land with one wing only,.." Damage report by picture: Elevator and vertical fin are untouched even they (F15 & A4) hit each other belly to belly? Ripping would trow wing up and back as flight speed vs proximity collision speed gives advantage to flight speed vector meaning that ripped wing (if made by glass) would surely slam into vertical fin and even elevator.. but no damage there. Debris holes? So.. get real guys, I know it sounds great but.. no way. :music_whistling:

The whole story is fake. As somewhere mentioned, incident occured as ground collision with static object and not while airborne. No tyre can sustaint that landing speed mentioned in vid. Also, no wind tunnel test performed under that case by MD ever to validate that case publicly. Also, pilots behaviour while telling that story is very suspicious as there is no actual action vid recorded. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Missile PK in MP is directly correlated to pilot pool experience so that is kind of undefined but another thing that heavily impacts PK in MP is damn lag that ED hasnt find remmedy for, yet. Also, missile drag rate is way up, except 530, by my personal observation as F10 missile speed readout is gone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This time, unfortunately, the F15 didn't produced massive lag spike to save the pilot's day. Anyway, Eagle is gone, all of it.

stuck on grass
jackmckay replied to jackmckay's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Damage model and management are weak spot of DCS. At first, just stucking in plain grassland using hard differential braking is given to inapropriate or bad taxing skills, which is partially true but also visual inspection of unpaved surfaces opened a question of ground softness modelling and indication of nonexistent flight state transformation coding, in short, ground rolls and flight are not connected thats why touching grass on the edge of runway with 90% weight being neutralised by lift force is same as full weight roll on farmland that makes planes instantly explode. This off the procedure behavior surely isn't peactime practice but in scramble flight it is vitally imortant. In any dynamic campaign where life count matters getting total damage on overshooting the runway or rolling over grass on final stage of takeoff kills a lot of fun. Prop planes are mostly affected by this as they have in RL situations used lot of unprepared strips for operations. Fixing this highly polarized behaviour would make MP arena better for sure as damage evaluation after battle and corelated repair time would also be great too but if grass can kill your plane easy then it should be fixed first. stuck on grass
jackmckay replied to jackmckay's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
stuck on grass Sure i would like to reduce that issue to single module, but that would make too manny threads as it happened to me in BF few days ago in TF51, Su25T and MiG21 so I think that is really not just single airframe problem but rather general issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
stuck on grass
jackmckay replied to jackmckay's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
We allready talked about ground softness but theres another more important issue here. Planes get destroyed on takeoff if they step onto grass if speed is just below takeoff speed. It looks like DCS doesnt simulate gradual transition from roll to flight state but has on-off state. Being at near to takeoff speed doesnt mean that plane ground pressure is significantly smaller than on roll start as DCS doesnt calculate lift force on ground when moving. Planes exploding on touching grass is not realistic at all. Try this: take any plane and start takeoff on concrete taxiway or runway, be short on takeoff so that takeoff speed is reached on grass part. Who will not explode? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Nice thought but ED and coop devs actually make decisions who will work on next module. Prototypes are not valid sources for module developement and there is also many planes that have seen combat but still not developed like F104/105/16/ etc..

Bug Report: F-15 gun accuracy does not match sources
jackmckay replied to Aries144's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Well could be, but comparing to GSH-301 which has 900m/s MzlVel, M61A1 has 1,050m/s. Fire rate is 6000/6600 for Vulcan and 1500 for Gryazev-Shipunov which is logical as Vulcan has 6 barrels to easily cool down. What interest me most is accuracy. In DCS I found out that it's way easier to score a gun kill in F15/F5 (even F5 doesn't have M61 but 2xM39 which are similar to GSh301) than in Su27 or any other fighter. Dispersion rate is logical explanation, but is that real or tuned up and if, why? I mean booth rounds travel between mach 2.5 to mach 3 and GSh still can't hit precisely (even inflict any damage) aimed at F15 tail in chase at around 500m advantage. That's kind of stinky to me now, not because I push some "balance" but for pure realism in this aspect of dogfight between two rivals. Thanks for expanding this segment. -
Bug Report: F-15 gun accuracy does not match sources
jackmckay replied to Aries144's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Good to know data. As I already noted in one post that F15 gun behaves like buckshot barrel with birdshot shells. That gives F15 and F5 5x times better accuracy in gunzo dogfight which is fine as Su27 and other pilots will develop better skills in gun aiming practice making F15 and F5 pilots 5x times worst gunners. Thats why ED had to make this little tweak to help them out ofc. Forgive me for not reading all posts after page 2 but may I add to this topic that other guns besides F15/F5 seems to have lower range as rounds seems to rapidly slow down somehow (clean Su27 chasing droptanked F15 firing from below upwards on the edge of gun range means that not single round will hit target). -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

16AGRDynCas is not serious as BF was ever. Guys changing sides to peek Intel. No base repair. Airquake on Blue as 4x more CAP slots on that side as it looks like ranting over red. Unlimited lives makes that server fire&forget so people get reckless. Nevermind, I hope that ciri's BF will be back soon as I find it top of the game. Few suggestions: - Intel gathering : map on fog of war, map portion unrevealed (Ka50 targets) until Intel gathered by suitable plane. Base screenshots in Kneeboard? - CAP missile count system: means that max airborne slots are not defined by number of planes but by number of missiles (by type) that planes can carry. - slot transfer: new slots (up to 4/2 on each airbase) available if certain action is done like CAP/CAS Slot cargo delivery from remote airfield to front line. - deployment memory: deployed units remain after server rotation, Slingload and backdoor cargo types? - ranking upgrade: guys that make certain success can be GCI or able to use best fighter slots as starting from 1st level rank (transport, inferior CAP, recon flight, CAS, top CAP.. by gradually progressing to highest rank of battle commander. Rank authority defined by total player count currently in game. - crowfunding ciribobs efforts ;) Greets. Hope it will be online soon. :)
