I checked everything. All the bound axises, airbrake, everything... I even went through the Keybinds list twice to see if there was a "Parking Brake."

So with the public release of 1.5, I've been starting to fly again. I remembered how to get the F-86 in the sky, and could do the F-15 as well. I go to hop in a quick mission of an old favorite of mine, the Su-33, just to do a check flight, and am stunned to find out it can't take off. It just seems to bog down on the runway and can't get going near fast enough to even begin to rotate. I take out the Su-27, and don't have a single problem. Is the Su-33 broken? Am I missing something here?

Leatherneck Simulations New Years Eve Update
Danneskjold replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I made the offer in the unofficial thread, and I'll make it here. I'm willing to trade (some) of my expertise on the Corsair(s) for a key to the corsair. A lot of my expertise may cost more. PM me if you'd like to discuss it. -
The russians always had an eye towards defending against heavy bombers after watching the Americans grind Germany and Japan into a pulp, but a simple investigation of both planes, and the eras they were designed in, show that they were made for relatively different purposes. The decision to overly rely on missiles aside, one is an arrow and the other is a bird. The F-104 has smaller wings, less drag, better climb, and is basically faster until it hits the plane's structural limit at Mach 2.0 (which the Mig-21 also hits). I don't know why it's so surprising that the Mig-21 can maneuver better. Hell, just looking at the landing speed between the 2 (Mig -> 135 knots, Starfighter -> 165 knots) should be a quick and crude way to discern that it's true.

I'm sorry, but who is actually surprised that a dedicated dog fighter is better than a dedicated point interceptor? Next up, stunning documents show the BF-109 can turn tighter than the B-17!
-
They did want them, but the American license-built Hispano 20mm's were unreliable. So 6 .50 cals that worked will always be better than 4 20mm's that may not. By the time they worked out the reliability issues, the war was over and they were on to the F4U-5 and later AU-1.

<- I am a corsair expert. I hope they clarify soon which corsair they mean. The F4U-1D / -1C would be an OK (but not great) match against the current competition of the 190D-9, BF-109K-4, and P-51D. The F4U-4 would be a perfect match. The F4U-1 or -1A (early) would NOT be a good match against the current competition, and as much as I love the corsair, I'm not buying a 1943 plane to fight against 1945 planes.

Need help fixing Saitek sticks
Danneskjold replied to Danneskjold's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ok, cracked the X-45 open and hit all the pots and the rocker with the contact cleaner / lube. It's doing much better, but is still having trouble with a loose wire in the throttle base. Or maybe the wire is broken somewhere around the case edge. Any particular way to track it down? Edit: The throttle pot probably should be replaced. Does anyone know which one it is? Or at least how to determine which one to order to replace it? -
Need help fixing Saitek sticks
Danneskjold replied to Danneskjold's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Connected to a USB 3/2 and a 2/1.1 outlet. No change. Tried the cleaner, there was no change. The problem with the X-52 isn't that any individual pot is spiking (though they are). The problem is that when I move the throttle itself, the various other inputs spike AS I am moving the throttle. I.E. I push the throttle up, and the twisty knobs spike, the slider spikes, and even the joystick input spikes. -
Basically I had an X-45 for many years, and after it started to not work that well, I decided to get an X-52 pro. And after a year with the X-52 Pro, it's starting to not work, either. I still have the X-45, so now I'm deciding to fix both of them up, because the options to upgrade look worst. I'm not going to buy another X-52 if it's going to die on me in a year. I'm not going to buy the X-55 / X-65 because it's utter crap. And I'd love to get a Warthog HOTAS, but I don't have the money for the stick + pedals. So here's what's broken: X-45 -> A lot of the pots are dirty, which i'll get cleaner for. However, it seems like something gets disconnected when I rotate the throttle / there's a loose connection in the throttle electronics. Additionally, there may be a loose / broken wire in the cable from the Throttle to Stick (it loses connection based on if I touch the wire itself). Lastly the POV hat on the stick is shot. I've since moved on to headtracking, but I'd like to fix this if at all possible. X-52 Pro -> This thing is a piece of crap. Most of the pots + sliders + stick response literally spike and change as the throttle is moving. Furthermore, some of the pots and slider responses literally spike when they are just sitting there and I am touching nothing. So I need your help in how to fix them. I've got a soldering iron, and have had a little bit of work in machining before. I have replaced electronics and wires on other items, as well. But as to what is causing the problems, that is probably beyond me to diagnose. I am in no rush to fix them, so have no problem with completely taking them apart. If I can get the X-45 working again, I'd likely use that, and set the X-52 aside, but I'd still like to fix both. Thanks for the help!

"Carb Air Temp" You can barely make it out on the plackard in the high contrast altered screenshot. It's a Corsair. It's not the F4U-4, or the F4U-5 (they didn't have that plackard front and center, as far as I know). So that leaves F4U-1, F4U-1A Early, F4U-1A Late, F4U-1D, or F4U-1C, not to mention other corsairs built by different manufacturers. Signed, -A Corsair fanboy. -
If it's a Tomcat, I may just go to sleep with the Tomcat loading screen as a night light every damn day.

Hi! So I'm playing through the campaign, but it doesn't seem to want to progress. I got to the mission where you have to kill the A-50 Russian AWACs bird. I've flown this mission 6 times. I shot down the A-50 4 times. In those 4 times, I got shot down once, but survived, once but died. The last two times I've successfully shot down the A-50 and boogied out. But under none of these did the campaign progress. I load up the campaign, and the next mission is the same mission to kill the A-50. While I'm learning more about the F-15 every time, frankly I'm tired of this mission. Is the campaign bugged? Broken? What's happening when it isn't progressing?
