I'm still curious about the Vive and the compatibility it will offer. In addition to that, if the Vive comes out with better specifications (the Rift's are really not clear) and a competitive price, I'm predicting that some folks will abandon their Oculus pre-orders and go for the Vive. Oculus stuck their neck out with the pricing. Surely the Vive will be similar, but the price hikes to Euros and Aussies is somewhat underhanded. Since Oculus moved first, Valve can respond in a way to capitalize on some of this latent frustration and negative inertia Oculus created. Since folks really have no skin in the game they can easily opt for a better option of the Vive becomes one. Note to those who are new to VR or considering it: You MUST make sure you have 75+ FPS with your VR device. If you do not, you run the risk of motion sickiness. You also must make sure you have the device adjusted comfortably on your head - not too tight, not too loose. Choose your lenses properly (applies to DK2), adjust the distance they are to your eyes and get your IPD set properly (the new Oculus makes this easy). The biggest thing in my opinion is that you have a good computer to ensure smooth frames. Folks also must take some time and get used to it so to develop "VR Sense" as I call it. This is important. Something many overlook is the reality that there will always be some "adjustment lag" (another Boxxism) when integrating new hardware of any type into one's gaming space. Whether it's a new joystick, monitor, button box, etc., there's always some time needed to get adjusted and to become accustomed to it to where it's accepted as a useful component psychologically. In the case of VR, and since it's such a change, it's important to give it some time to get used to the new experience, one our human minds really have never faced in our entire history.

From January 4th: I was pretty close...we'll see if they publish the total units sold.
-
Bah - I waited long enough...looks like it's on their terms...gotta love paying and begging :/ May shipping - good point, Frusheen :)

Thank you - yes. This is specifically at checkout. Every seller using paypal can receive payment from the customer's paypal account balance. The customer can choose to use other funding sources if he wants with a bank account or card, but the default it the paypal account balance. We have about 30000 transactions with paypal over more than 5 years. This is the first time I have experienced being forced into a funding source. *flips table in disgust*

Who payed with paypal and was forced to fund the purchase from a bank account? I attempted a purchase using paypal and was forced to fund the purchase from a bank account linked to the paypal account. I didn't order for the reason that I dont want someone to tell me from what wallet I must pull the money to give them. It's not the amount - I tested other sellers taking paypal with purchases in excess of 600 USD; It's not the paypal balance - there are funds to cover it; Is this what everyone had to do?
-
Are they letting people order more than one?
-
Wow - that's even more than I expected...I was anticipating 575 plus shipping. Any word on the specs for those of us who are still trying? Are they taking paypal?

Oculus just imploded!

much win  @jamison - I'm guessing - and it's only my guess - that the CV1 will be ~575 USD and take up to 90 days to be shipped. We'll surely know much, much more tomorrow. I plan to pony up for one tomorrow morning. I rearranged my schedule tomorrow to accommodate it :joystick: :pilotfly:

Prevyet, Andre - Would you know if this is compatible with iRacing, Project Cars, Dirt Rally, Assetto Corsa, Live for Speed and rFactor2?
-
No company in their right mind would expect to sell a product without making sure prospective buyers knew all they needed to know. Anything short of that is irresponsible and reckless. I think personally that if anyone waits just a tick to do anything other than buy, they're going to miss it. My bet is that they will sell in excess of one million at 575 USD each.

FlyInside for FSX/P3D has both a Zoom function and a magnifying glass function. Both are great features and uber-useful :D

How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
DerekSpeare replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The DSD 32 and 64 button controllers have settings which can be user-programmed that allow for the use of on/off toggles. What happens when a particular input pin is designated as an on/off toggle is that a pulse indicating a button press is sent when the switch is set to the on position and then again when it is set to the off position. (these controllers also will can be configured for use with rotary switches (BBM or MBB may be used, with BBM preferred) as well as rotary encoders like the CTS 288 Series in addition for use with on/off toggles). For example: You connect a standard on/off toggle to Button Pin 1. You use the DSD Circuit Configuration Utility to indicate an on/off toggle is connected. The switch is set to ON and your game of choice, DCS in this case, is sent the button press. When it's switched off the Button 1 is sent again. Setting a function to a single button such as "Landing Gear Toggle" will work with this configuration. Note carefully that although the switch is closed, the controller itself does not sent a continuous pressed button state. A button press pulse is sent when it's closed and then again when it's opened. You can even be "tricky" and use a momentary button and tell the controller it's an on/off toggle if you wanted to use that particular component for a 'Press-and-Hold' function like a speed brake. Also note carefully that you must reset all of your toggles prior to entering your flying session to ensure that the logic states of the toggles are not reversed; think on when you want them off. -
I thought so, but I figured I should note it anyhow :)

Multiplayer menu with Oculus chopped off

I noticed that the rear seat interior lights are not operable. The front seat lights work. This is for v1.5.2 and using the Oculus DK2. Thank you.

I'd like to see the following: Eurofighter Harrier F-16C/D T-38 F-15E (with dual seat multiplayer) F-35 F-22 YF-23 Thank you for your consideration :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Have a VR-Filled New Year!

There's a noticeable improvement in frame rates after this most recent update :)
-
Thank you - good luck with your project :smilewink: I used to be a staunch 3 screen supporter until I put the Oculus on my head. Since then, I dropped three screens for 1 and use only the Oculus for any gaming. If the game doesn't offer VR support, I don't waste my time with it.

Yes, I agree - my error. I presumed FI was necessary to enable VR. However, that's not what you were meaning. FI has a butt-load of great features that would be cool to have in DCS. And in that regard, I agree.
-
Thanks, Don B - I was aware of that, but that can be rather onerous to go controller by controller...I have 8 attached :/ If that's the best solution now, so be it...it would be good to have something to import them, though :)
-
Flyinside is superb, and I have been fortunate to be using it for some time. DCS has its own VR support. Nothing else is needed.
-
It would be nice to have a means to simply import one's controller settings from DCS 1.5.2 (or 1.2) directly into DCS 2.0.0 with the click of a mouse. If there are ways to do it, please tell me. If not, please have some way to save the customer from having to go back and rebuild all the inputs by hand. Thank you! :pilotfly:
