JOINT WARRIOR ROUND 5 - TACTICAL PVP BATTLE
red_coreSix replied to FLANKERATOR's topic in Tournaments & Events
I don't think that's a good idea. I've just flown a few missions on several servers and the performance is pretty bad. I had several crashes as well, one related to an amraam impacting a flanker. It's probably a better idea to run it on stable 1.5.2 -
Supporting wingman's SARH ?
red_coreSix replied to Dirty Rotten Flieger's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
I don't know the details but if you fire a second one it probably gives that missile a different ID and broadcasts the guidance updates for both missiles simultaneously. The missile does the calculations based on its INS data. Since the radar doesn't know where the missiles are in space it can only provide the targets position. And no it's not a waste to fire more than one, it's a valid tactic to ripple two R-27s since you never know if one eats a chaff. Even better if you fire two different seekers (ER/ET). -
I can confirm this bug, happened during a multiplayer mission as a friend fired the whole server went down.

AIM-120 seeker lock and AIM-7 Flood mode question
red_coreSix replied to Beamscanner's topic in F-15C for DCS World
You do know that the AMRAAM is active right? Meaning it has its own seeker for terminal guidance... -
AIM-120 seeker lock and AIM-7 Flood mode question
red_coreSix replied to Beamscanner's topic in F-15C for DCS World
1. Don't know but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. 2. AFAIK you get a launch warning as soon as your aircraft is painted with flood emissions. -
DLZ is "dynamic launch zone", the rest I don't know.

Red Flag 4 Hitting the new NTTR Theater for DCS World!
red_coreSix replied to FLANKERATOR's topic in Tournaments & Events
Just as a quick note, booted the mission up and noticed that the labels were on. -
The RN-24 is bigger than the RN-28 and thus should do more damage in theory. S-24A and S-24B have different warhead IIRC. The A is HE and the B should he bunker busting but I'm not sure on that. The R-13M is short range as are all the air-air missiles of the MiG-21, the difference between the two versions is just that the R-13M1 is slightly better in terms of tracking. R-55 is SARH, the RS-2US is a beam rider btw. I should probably also mention that the R-60M is not only slightly better than the R-60, it is actually the only missile of the fishbed with limited all-aspect capabilities. Meaning you don't need to come behind someone to achieve missile lock.

AIM9M on the M2000C! (Simple Mod)
red_coreSix replied to OnlyforDCS's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I've just made a very simple mod that brings the R-550 somewhat close to the AIM-9M in terms of burn time and speed. It is by no means realistic but rather a testing solution. http://www.file-upload.net/download-11182534/R-550.rar.html And again please don't use this on MP servers. Mod is JSGME compatible. -

Didn't try that for the mirage, but you can fit AIM-54s and AIM-9X on your F-15 as well :smilewink: -

It will get through the integrity check, however on most servers modded loadouts are illegal and will result in kick or ban. Steongly recommend to only use this for offline testing. -
The jammers you have on your A-10C differ from other jammers in DCS as it is a defensive jammer that uses deception jamming to break locks. So it only works when a radar is locking you up or is supporting a missile against (or against active radar missiles). It also doesn't only work for a few seconds, it will try to break the lock as long as the radar is painting you and will only stop once you tell it to, once he unlocks you or once the jammer successfully broke the lock.

To be honest for me the ER works like it should. I've certainly had times were it went for chaff, a lot actually, but I don't understand all the raging about it. It's still a very deadly weapon if you know what your doing. Even in MP I can reliable kill an F-15 when in Look-up and he's not beaming. And the thing about amraams not going for chaff is simply wrong. I've flown the F-15 in DCS 1.2, 1.5 and 2.0 and they also go for chaff regularly. When the amraam is in look-down the bandit is beaming and chaffing it's almost 100% of the time a miss.

Doesn't seem to work at the moment. Also tried using 1688, didn't track even when directly looking at the laser.
-
Noticed that when you watch the tacview of shooting a magic missile it shows as r-55. That's probably the cause to why they turn so bad. Maybe you guys got the code confused and accidentally put in the r-55 performance on the magic model
-
It's not weird. The MiG-29s radar just isn't as good as the on the F-15.
-
Die sollte locker einmal über die Karte reichen, zumindestens wenn die aufzuklärenden Ziele hoch und schnell fliegen.
-
True, but apparently SARH missiles don't loft for some reason. That's just how it is. Maybe the informations SARH missiles get aren't enough to perform a lofting maneuver. Or no one thought of that by the time they were developed
-
Never saw an ER, or any SARH missile for that matter, loft. Don't know the exact reason why they don't but I'd guess it's a technical restriction. ARH missiles are able to loft.
-
No, you can't loft SARH missiles.

Two-way data link is used in the METEOR as well as in the AIM-120D. It's mostly there to enhance the situational awareness and improve the energy efficiency of the missile trajectory since the missile can talk back to the launch platform (maybe even other aircrafts) and give updates on the status. You also obviously know when the missile went active which is always helpful.

I'd like to enter for a friend :)

DCS: How 'real' are the HUDs ?

You can just google F-15 HUD and you'll find plenty of videos. -

DCS is pretty much on point with HUDs. -
True, I've seen players somehow putting out 20 or more chaffs per second instantly trashing any radar missile launched at them.
