  1. Thanks for reporting this mate, the version available for download was made in the previous built so I will check with Stuge for an update from the recent version.
  2. Hey Smiladon, I'm working on the schedule and will be published by tonight.
  3. Registration is now closed as we reached the maximum number of participants (32 pilots for 1v1 and 16 teams for 2v2) Thanks to all who registered to this event. Official brackets, schedule, order of play and match protocol will be published soon. If you're late to the party, we advise you to still register as a substitute, maybe an opportunity will present itself (No show/ expanding brackets...etc). Substitution will be handled on first come first served basis.
  4. Gentlemen, for 2v2 when registering more than two players, please specify number of teams and who team up with who so I can do the seeding and later on populate the brackets properly. One squadron can field multiple teams but each player must stick to the same team throughout the competition. A player can be substituted by another player but only before the first fight occurs and the sub must not be part of another team in 2v2. Also note that brackets will be populated so that teams and pilots from the same squadron would face each other in the latest possible stage of the competition. Thanks to all who signed up so far. 4 more days before closing the registration desk.

  7. We can always try to schedule a catch up match on a weekday, this is the advantage of small player count :) Thanks to all who signed up so far!
  8. Yes, I will upload it here asap mate, we're putting the finishing touches on it.
  9. kicking off on the 21st/22nd of November weekend Please see Update section below Roster Update Existing pilots: check first post to see if your slot is marked confirmed, if not post your confirmation here asap. New comers: see first post to see if any slots are open then post your application here asap. Pilots attempting to reschedule: PM and let me know if there are any news asap so can update accordingly. A slot marked "out" is open for those who'd like to grab a seat and will be allocated on first come first served basis but the sub must be unranked by SA or have a lower ranking than the player he intends to replace. Please post in this thread only for your application to be considered. A slot marked "Rescheduling" means the participant is trying to reschedule his fights so he may or may not be able to do so; if not then the slot will become open and up for grabs. Top Gun R2 is at the name implies a guns only PvP competition meaning that the only weapon that the jets will be allowed to carry is the cannon. This event will be hosted by TAW crew (The Art Of Warfare) on their dedicated servers running the latest 1.5 version of DCS world. TAW have been contributing in many ways to the success of our past events so we are glad to see them evolving into official partners alongside the 104th Phoenix and the 51st PVO. The mission itself is a courtesy of 104th_Stuge and we would like to thank him for his top quality work in putting all the pieces together to come up with an accurate and professional DCS mission dedicated to dogfighting. Only PFM-equipped modern fighters will be used, i.e, The Su-27 Flanker and the F-15C Eagle; the competition will also feature two separate draws: 1v1 and 2v2. This is an SA-sanctioned PvP competition and as such it will count for the DCS air-to-air rankings. Full details of the event are available here: http://sa-sim.com/top-gun-round-2-for-dcs-1-5-kicking-off-november-14th/ To enter this event, please post the following below: - Full Callsign - Squadron name if any. - Nationality - Selected draws (1v1 or 2v2 or both) Note: for 2v2 when registering more than two players, please specify number of teams and who team up with who. - Preferred Aircraft (Su-27 or F-15C) Note: Pilots flying 2v2 can sign up even if they don't have a wingman yet as we can sort this later on as more pilots register to the 2v2 competition. We can help pilots team up together or let you contact the one you'd like to team up with. If you already have your wingman, you can sign him/her up along. There is also a prizepool and some interesting features, so make sure you check out the link above! Update - November 05th Mission file can be downloaded now from the same link above (registration section). Update - November 06th Mission file updated with 2 fixes: -Combat zone border warning sound now works properly. -F5 padlock view is now completely disabled as supposed to be. Update - November 08th Registration is now closed as we reached the maximum number of participants (32 pilots for 1v1 and 16 teams for 2v2) Thanks to all who registered to this event. Official brackets, schedule, order of play and match protocol will be published soon. If you're late to the party, we advise you to still register as a substitute, maybe an opportunity will present itself. Substitution will be handled on first come first served basis. Update - November 11th Red win not being registered due to infantry units along the border bug fixed now; please download latest version. Brackets, order of play and rules have been added in now: http://sa-sim.com/top-gun-round-2-fo...november-14th/ please note that placing the players/teams that are SA ranked on the brackets is based on the standard seeding method. Players/teams that do not have an SA ranking have been placed randomly or to avoid facing a squadron member in the early rounds. Single Elimination for both 1v1 and 2v2! Let the fight begin! Update - November 13th Dear pilots, Unfortunately we will have to postpone this until further notice as 1.5 seems to be plagued by issues directly affecting MP. As much as we wanted to run this this weekend, we'd also like to have a fair competition and current version of DCS denies it. We're not cancelling this event, only delaying until the game gets rid of a few big let downs, this is beyond our control and we apologize for any inconvenience. We only decided to postpone now as the whole team was trying hard to make this work until the last day so I'd personally like to salute Stuge and OverG for their countless hours of mission testing and debugging. We hope you will all be able to fly again once we set the new dates and we will have a new thread where people can reconfirm their slots with also the possibility for new comers to sign up as well. Stay tuned as we aim for the release version of 1.5 (around 2-3 weeks according to the devs). S! Update - November 16th We're exited to let you guys know that the delay wont last long! Top Gun R2 has been cleared for take off on this coming Saturday 21st of November so the first weekend of matches will be 21st-22nd. Thanks to unwavering commitment from both Mr Stuge and the the TAW testing crew led by OverG, the mission is now working as intended under the current version of DCS (1.5.1.47025 Update 1). Please drop us a line the earliest you can to confirm your slot or if for whatever reason you wont be available to show up on the 21st or the 22nd to let us know so we can invite people from the waiting list. Confirmation deadline is Wednesday November 18th. Kindly do not update straight away if another version or update of DCS comes out in the meantime and instead wait for it to be confirmed working properly with Top Gun R2. We will post whether it is compatible or not in this very thread as soon as tested out. The SA team would like to thank you for your patience and understanding and we hope that you will enjoy your PvP dogfighting experience in Top Gun R2. Play Hard Play Fair!
  10. Yes, this is what I said but was not aware of the automatic emergency mode and kind of surprised a bit as can not refrain from thinking about what could happen if a friendly is next to the target when the track drops and Flood takes over.
  11. I too believe that the Flood mode should only give a lock warning but no launch tone, this is at least what I understood from how this mode works; it says that it makes the radar emit heavily to the front sector (flood circle) but without concentrating all its energy on a specific target like in STT, then the missile once fired guides to the strongest reflection, so I don't see how an M link could be generated without STT. Just throwing in my two cents.
  12. Hi Vyrtuoz, Would it be possible to add a feature to the real time analysis where you can set a delay between the actual session and the one playing on Tacview? Also being able to choose how much delay youd want, which can vary from a few seconds to many minutes with one hour being the max? That would be freaking awesome if the above was possible as it will allow near live streaming of online PvP competitions without being exposed to intel leakage...
  13. That's a big milestone in the history of Tacview, congrats sir!
  14. Indeed, you need to use the internal IP (not external) of the hosting device and it can change every session so double check and update routers settings accordingly. Also both TCP and UDP protocols are needed.
  15. Dubai here but grounded because of my rig needing an upgrade. Did not recall having to deal with too much lag when flying on the mainstream servers like the 104 or 51. I suggest you hop onto their help desk on TeamSpeak and they should be able to assist you.
  16. Good work Santi, an enjoyable read. I'd just like to add that an F-15 can be just as deadly in a mountain fight, also, seasoned Eagle drivers would not play this game most of the time and would turn away, stay high and wait for you to come out as you would burn fuel faster (especially if res-pawning is not allowed) I'd also like to point out that Flankers are still a force to be reckoned with even on flat terrain especially in a TvT setup and this has already been proven many times.
  17. X-52? Mine used to behave like that, I had to open it and loosen a couple of screws around both axes. I actually left it open and kept adjusting one or two screws while monitoring on Windows until I got the crosshair to auto center again.
  18. I'd like to watch that acmi if possible please?
  19. The R-77 feels severely downgraded in both range and speed retention, at least compared to how it used to fly in previous FC versions. The Fulcrum has just started getting some attention recently (new cockpit) so hopefully the Adder is on the to-do list as well. A2A missiles in general need some tweaking here and there, the R-77 however is in a desperate shape.
  20. The eagerly awaited 1.5 Beta is out! more news on SATAC 2015 to follow soon.
  21. It is but it depends on how long the missile flies high, so the further you are from your target the more range bonus you will get from altitude. As Pyromaniac pointed out, shooting in a significant look down scenario from close range would actually give your missile shorter legs as forced to dive quickly into the low draggy air, slowing down at an alarming rate as opposed to your foe whose missile although departing low would be getting to higher thinner air quickly thus loosing less speed; it all comes down to how far you are when opening fire, the further the better but as you get close past the threshold, you'd better get down low to deny him a look up shot then proceed with your next move whether it be defensive or offensive.
  22. Flying low tend to make people somehow feel safer as opposed to 'feeling naked' in the middle of the sky; well that's how you'd feel until you understand that speed (not the weeds) is life. By flying low you deny yourself potential energy (altitude) so youve got nothing to trade for speed when things get hairy, plus those who are good at scanning with the radar from above will find you and pretend they don't see you until too late for you. And say you dodge the first salvo of missiles, it will be a matter of seconds before they dive on you, outrun and kill you.
  23. Live streaming has always been an issue with online competition for obvious reasons. Maybe a delay would do the job but then it wouldn't be live anymore :-) Will check with Dart if Loatc can handle a delay of say 30mn.
  24. All details will be available soon and the mission file itself made available for everyone to see. Meanwhile, the description I posted can give you a decent idea about what's it's all about: ensuring air superiority inside a specific airspace(the bubble) by entering it on time and defending it by either forcing all enemy units out or shooting them down. The bubble will be wide enough to enable realistic tactics while at the same time forcing the teams to stay aggressive, so if you exit the bubble a script will warn you and give a few seconds to recommit otherwise your aircraft will be automatically disabled. No RTB unless all bandits neutralized and the team able to bring at least one jet back home safe after neutralizing the enemy collects the round. 2 rounds are needed to win a match. Swapping sides possible after each round. Same Time on Station for everyone. S!
