  1. What can I say, if you treat sim development as a hobby or a side hustle, maybe stick with releasing free mods and don't charge as much money for a module as other game studios charge for a whole game? Getting a bit annoyed about the dismissive comments saying we should just be happy with what we got. Ultimately it just doesn't fit in DCS, because people have certain expectations about module realism and module quality. If people want some arcade like fun shooter, there are other games like War thunder. But I have seen the love that ED or 3rd party developers poured into other modules and the results of it and what level of fidelity is possible. It's never perfect, but it's pretty damn good and often keeps improving. Whereas Mig 21 has been pretty much forgotten if judged by actual quality over time.
  2. Unfortunately I have to agree. I bought it years ago in 2014 when it was still in "alpha". It was the first module and it had a lot of promise, but that promise did not translate into real improvements. That'll teach me to never buy "Early Access/Alpha/Beta" products ever again. I just listened to the Air Combat Sim podcast, and that makes me lose hope even more. Turns out that Magnitude 3 mainly cosists of part-time people who do this on the side, they don't do deadlines, they only have like 2 programmers (one of which is responsible for the current mess). And the "planned" improvements are all focused on textures and models, there was not a single word about flight model, ASP/Gyro, the arcade-like ground mode simulation, not even an acknowledgement that there's anything wrong whatsoever. In fact, various comments in this forum or in reddit or on the bugtracker suggest that they believe that that's how the flight model is supposed to be. At this point I just wish another company would create a completely new independent module of the Mig-21. I'd buy that. I wouldn't buy any more Magnitude modules though.
  3. OK so I want to believe that high AoA situations lead to wing rock and unstable roll/yaw axis due to stalls. But the current implementation just feels really silly. I do not own a Mig-21 IRL, so I can not check, but does Magnitude really want to tell me that it departs in the exactly same way, every single time? In a left hand turn, at exactly 16° AoA (DCS, not indicator), the plane rolls right, yaws left and then in the opposite direction. Right hand turn exact opposite. It doesn't even lose any lift during this "wing rock", because the g-load stays pretty constant. If it's a form of stall, should it not decrease somehow? To me it looks less like an aerodynamic phenomenon and more like Dolphin jumped into my cockpit and started to wiggle my controls to mess with me for fun
  4. Hi, I haven't stared tha game in a while. Can someone tell me if the upside-down radar has been fixed yet?
  5. Then what is ED's primary concern?
  6. Honestly, compared to other Birds like Ka-50 or the ridiculous A-10, the Mig-21 is incredibly easy. I found the learning curve (for operating it) being rather flat and most of all short, because Mig-21 has limited capabilities and simple procedures. The learning curve for combat effectiveness or even multiplayer viability.... Now that is a very different topic.
  7. What is the question? Can you ask again in french?
  8. We have the answer to our speculations now. So... Can we possibly close this thread or let it die? It lived too long already.
  9. I don't think single bomb dispensal is possible in DCS: Mig 21. As for the maneuvering, I tried to make a similar bombing run: The turn before dropping is actually necessary, because you don't see the target below you.
  10. Thanks for your answers, guys! Looking at the Su-25 Wikipedia page, Su-25SM seems to be quite a "high-tech" variant, compared to other variants. So it seems that in our Sim, Su-25T is actually closer to the capabilities. Do I assume correctly?
  11. Hi, I know political discussions are prohibited, but this is not a political question, just purely technical. I just wanted to know which type of Su-25 is currently in use by the Russian military. In particular, which types were used in the Georgia 2008 conflict and which are being used in the Syria 2015 conflict atm? If I understand correctly, the Su-25T was never really introduced, because it was too expensive. However, another, similar Upgrade was introduced. About Georgia: there are "HUD-Videos" which show, well, a HUD, which the classical Su-25 does not have. However, all videos of the Su-25 takeoffs show the "humpback", which the Su-25T doesn't have. About Syria: I don't think there are "HUD-Videos", but all takeoff videos show the humpback again. So does anybody know which variant was and is being used? Is it "the old one", or is it intermediate upgrade closer to the T-variant?

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is LOD?
  13. Hi, what is "working fine"? I mean, how do I use it correctly? I don't know how to hit targets even with the Radar lock. Could somebody explain?
  14. Here's a track and a video of me bombing tanks with the Pipper in CCIP mode: So while the reticle is stuck first, it starts to move up when you get close enough to release the bombs. As you see, precise bombing is very much possible. If it's possible in real life - don't ask me, but finger and other "experts" said no. I don't care, I like to bomb things precisely. My piloting sucks, that's why I exceeded the G-Limit by quite a bit. Maybe if you dive steeper, you can actually climb out sooner and don't have to pull so many G's. Mig-21 CCIP Bombing.trk
  15. Why is it wrong? How is it supposed to work? Please don't say "it shouldn't". Maybe it's just because I'm on "Easy ASP" settings. Maybe if you turn that off, it won't work anymore. They already "fixed" some things. Not sure how it works now, but at least something has changed.
  16. Hi! I wanted to deactivate my Module in DCS 1.2 (because I have it active in 1.5). It worked, but now it said that I have only 4 Deactivations left. De-activations? So De-Activating is limited now as well? I don't really understand this. So what if I have to install new Hardware, new OS more than 4 times?
  17. Well, that's kinda normal behaviour, isn't it? The Pipper should disappear below the HUD, but doesn't so it's locked at the bottom. If you do a dive (40-50°) and come close enough to the ground, the pipper starts moving up again and displays the impact point pretty accurately. I've destroyed quite a few tanks now by dropping a 500kg Bomb right on their heads.
  18. So the ASP Air-to-Air Gun pipper is now fed by the Radar. But how do I use it??? I set Weapons to Air-to-Air, the ASP to Gun Mode, Auto, and the Pipper to Gyro. Then I lock onto the target, and the pipper just jumps around completely uselessly. If I try to move the pipper over the target somehow, the bullets go above it. So how does this actually work? And is there a video and/or manual for this?
  19. I'm very happy with this. Not everybody has a great, awesome, 150$ HOTAS stick. I have 12 Buttons on mine, and quite frankly all those one-state-per-button assignments drove me up a f* wall. I simply don't have so many buttons. Also, the FC3 keymaps all use this style, and if you move between planes it's sometimes nice to have some consistency in the keymapping.
  20. I think you need to make a company, hire programmers and make a new version of Mig21, so you can be a competitor to Leatherneck. I don't know who will win, but the result will be a high-quality Mig21 for sure.
  21. They complained that landings were too hard and that they always broke their landing gear. Now that they redid the engine, engine handling seems too hard (with this one I tend to agree). I'm not sure if it's actually the flight model or if it's missing some control authority or maybe the ARU is broken. Either way, weird things are going on. I have to say, even if it's a Beta, a product should approach completion and changes should calm down. But it seems completion is far away at the moment...
  22. If I would be LN, I'd be annoyed. Difficult flight model -> people complain. Easier flight model -> people still complain. I'm not LN, but I can defnitely comment this: you can't really stall, but you can easily get into the critical AoA's.
  23. Thanks for your efforts John! I think I could be able to do that as well, since I am OK with programming usually, but I have to learn Lua and Lua in DCS to be confident enough to hack something like this. Lets see. I'll figure something out. And in the end, I feel like it's LN's job and not yours. Thanks for your concern, but I think it's better for you to focus on other things :)
  24. This is great, Cobra! New modules are great, but please keep working on Mig21 please please!!
  25. Have you fulfilled all conditions? You need to: - Have enough Oxygen left (Gauge LV2) - Be slower than Mach 1 (Gauge CM81, thick needle) - Be faster than 500 km/h IAS (Gauge CM88) - Throttle set to zero
