Simple one but worth checking, SLI or Crossfire must be in full screen. I got mine to work but with crazy FPS from 10 - 140!!!
-
Crikey Must be really frustrating to have had it working and now it doesn't :(

I am intrigued by your figures. Someone on this forum had convinced me that Crossfire did not work yet. Others, as above, see FPS increases with AI Catalyst Disabled. On my setup I see virtually no difference with it either way and as if to confirm what I was told, the "Crossfire Status Icon" when enabled does not show on the screen. So can you help us to get the Crossfire working??

Is there an indicator in the cockpit for the speedbrakes?

Don't know if this will help you, but I'm sure that the external barcodes and details on the boxes are identical, as I checked when I had both the Vers. 1 and Vers. 2. "Anal" as this sounds the difference (apart from switch quality, which is night and day!) Small sticker on base shows Vers 1 or vers 2 Perspex screens were "film" protected on Vers 2 USB clear plastic end caps were different.

That was my understanding also, but at the moment with the Beta not supporting Crossfire and not yet been optimised, the frame rate hit would be too great. So I'm not going to go there yet!

SSD noticeably smmoths flight experience
Loz replied to JaseGill's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've just installed a new C drive with a OCZ RevoDrive PCIe 120Gb, for just that reason. And I similarly find a definite lack of stuttering and although it is hard to quantify, I'm sure that my overall framerate has improved. Like JaseGill I am running everything on High, with the exception of Water = Med, Traffic = Low, Mirrors = Off, full screen = Off. My res is 3150 x1200 on triple screen although the outer screens only show the MFCDs. Occaisional slow down over 3D buildings down to 8-10 but the rest of the time 24 - 60. As you see from my Sig I have a crossfire card but the sim does not support it at the moment and it only runs on one GPU. Pictured here I hope to try full Triple Screen, with embedded MFCDs when Beta4 is released, but I think that will still be dependant on SLI / Crossfire support, otherwise I fear a slideshow. -
Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
Loz replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Here is mine with a reduced 3 screen layout. Frame rate isn't bad, this on Res 3150x1200, all (bar Water med, Traffic low), set on High and I get between 24-60 FPS. Should have picked a better, less distracting windows screen for the background. Here is a look at my 2MFCDs.lua Bear in mind that my res stated in the ingame options is 3150x1200 and because I use Bezel Compensation some of the x coords look strange. -
Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)

You could be right but I wouldn't think so. I accidentaly turned off one monitor and the setting were all just measured from the top left corner of the remaining two, as per the .lua. -

Loz replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Well MadTommy I've done as Kuky suggested and it does work to use part of the left and right monitors just to project the MFDs onto. It also successfully increases the frame rate. I'm not able to quantify by how much as I've also changed my C: Drive to a 120Gb PCIe SSD and OS to Win7 in the mean time, Frame Rates are generally higher, and a lot smoother. If new textures are needed to be downloaded, it does it instantly with no pauses. :D -

Loz replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
That is a very good idea Kuky. I hadn't thought of that. I shall try it tomorrow, as there is a performance hit of about 20% as it is. Thanks. -
To be honest I have given up looking for USB monitors for the moment and I'm using my 3 Screen set up like this. Where I've velcroed the MFDs to the bottom corners of my two monitors. More details in this thread. :D

Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
Loz replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Well having hesitated for long enough I decided to have a play with multi monitor. Crossfire implementation( or lack of it) has disuaded me from going full size on my 3 24" but since I've just got my MFDs running (at last) I thought I'd try them out alongside my main screen in the bottom of the adjoining corners. They are just velcroed to the frame with a bit of rubber seal along the corner on the screen. As you can see below, it's quite a neat solution, I just hope that when the optimisation for Frame Rate and Crossfire support is finished I might be able to use this with fullscreen background. One added bonus that came as a surprise. If you go to hud only screen you don't get the MFDs on the centre screen as normal but just behind the MFD frames as I wanted. :megalol: Thanks very much to all on these threads that did the hard work sorting out the .luas. :) In particular thanks to Mad Tommy. :D -
I've been researching this very Photo-frame / USB Monitor and found that there are quite a few comments on the net that this does not work with a 64 bit system. With that in mind I went into PC World and asked them to try one on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine. Sure enough it was not recognised by the OS and also while reading the manual it said that you could only use one of these at a time?? Enough to put me off this, which is a shame as they are reasonabley priced at £80.

You pair make me laugh. Do you think they should break when they are pressed no matter how hard. Look on the base of yours I'd bet they are the Version 2's with which there doesn't seem to be a problem.
-
Well for about 4 hours these Version 2 have been fine. But what a pain. I think UPS have memorised the route to my house by now.
-
I would say that there is definitely something wrong with your setup, as I have a similar setup and Civ Traffic to low everything else on High. HDR TSAA and Full Screen OFF and I get anywhere between 15 to 60. Both MFDs on TGP and MAV doesn't seem to slow it but over built up areas definitley does. Our Card don't help as it doesn't use Crossfire, and doesn't utilise fully the cores, but it still is WIP :D

Just received my THIRD set of Cougar MFDs, as with the first two sets either of the MFDs just packed in working and amongst both sets there were some buttons that just took a second press to work or just failed. By getting this last set from a different supplier (Amazon UK/Amazon EU S.a.r.L.) I have discovered that they are Version 2 (Checking the label on one of the failed ones reveals that they were Version 1.) From intial inspection, not a lot looks different. Apart from the differing label, the perspex inserts have a protective film over them but the feel of the buttons, especially the rocker switches is a lot better. I just hope they last longer than the first two sets.

What keys are you using for TIR on/off and recenter?
Loz replied to Bahger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
These are exactly what I use too. -
Brilliant. Impressive work and most helpful to the community. Inbound Rep. Thanks :D

Green lights of TM Warthog Throttle
Loz replied to STP Dragon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yea mine are not when everything is working, but I've got into the habit of unplugging the Throttle when I shut down. When I plug in again and after starting, the 5 greens do come on until windows boots. -
Yea It would perhaps have been enough to state that a rapid forward acceleration is perceived to be a pitch up, caused by the affect on the semi circular canals in your balance organs (in the ear) Hence, if you've noticed, on carrier launches the pilot keeps his hand away from the stick, so as not to be tempted to "stop the pitch up" and consequently push the stick forward (bad idea)

Gonna add my name to those with the i7 920 oc'd to 4 GHz with absolutely no problems. Use a good cooler (H50 or the new H70) on a good motherboard. Mine is the Asus Rampage II Extreme.
