I found that if you flying the steering cue and have it centered up on the flight path marker, the glideslope needle on the ADI becomes active and accurate at about four miles from the runway. But to qualify that a bit, I build my approaches to an ILS for a 3 degree glideslope and place my "landing" waypont just beyond the runway threshold trying to cross it a 50 feet agl. I meant steering cross.

Hi all, I find I need to replace my TM Warthog joystick. TM says that they cannot fix it for several months due to lack of parts. So, for the price of a new TM joystick, I can purchase the complete X-55. I never used the Target software so I am wondering if, within DCS, I can simply assign my bindings with the X-55 as I did with the TM product without having to resort to the Saitek software. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks :joystick:

Hi All, I ordered this with high expectations but my multi purpose desk doesn't work with the Wheel Stand. This is set for the TM Warthog and will accommodate my Saitek Pro rudder pedals. It would be perfect for the right desk/chair setup. I believe I paid $175.00 for it but I will let it go for $100.00 plus shipping.

Hello Gliptal, I will try the gun trigger next time. I guess that I haven't gotten so frustrated with the "space bar" that wanted to shoot something yet.

I see that my original thread was move to the A-10C Basic Flight Qualification DLC. I do not own that module. I am referring to the training modules native to DCS 1.5 open Beta. So, any answers to my question which was moved there cannot apply. I have re post here to get an appropriate response. In short the "press the space bar when ready to proceed" command does not work in any of the DCS training sessions except for the first two sessions. That command does work in other DCS training modules. I have run the repair DCS routine without any luck. I would like to take this training if possible. Thanks again.

HI All, I am taking some interest in learning this incredible simulation. So, I got to the third training module and the "press the space bar when you are ready to proceed" function no longer works. That function does work in other training modules and is only a problem in the A-10C. (It does work in the first two sessions of the A-10C) I ran the repair DCS routine but without luck. Well, you were given some good advice here. I too, shared your frustrations with learning the ILS for the F-15C. So, I started making some training mission with sole intent of practicing the ILS. In 1.5 Open Beta (more airports to use) I would use the ruler to define a Final Approach Fix (FAF) waypoint 10 miles from the approach end of the runway at an altitude of 2500 to 3000 feet above the runway. Ten miles and 3000 feet above the altitude for the approach end of the runway approximates a 3 to 1 glide slope which is optimum. From that point to touch down you want to be fully configured (gear and flaps down) and on speed. Preceding the FAF I build an Initial Approach Fix five miles out from the FAF along the extended center line of the ILs course. In the F-15 I want to be at the IAF at a speed of no more than 220 kts with the flaps down and the gear up at 2500 ft AGL in level flight. This way, as you transition from waypoint nav to ILS nav, you can verify that the distance to the runway and the heading are correct. The reason for the altitude and configuration between the IAF and the FAF is that you will join the glide slope from below (it will fly down to you) and as you start to see the ILS fly down to you, extend the gear and begin to follow the glide slope. This way only minor thrust adjustments are needed to settle in on your desired final approach speed and sink rate. I do this in Instrument Meteorological Conditions just for the self discipline value. In closing, after more than 18,000 hours in the airlines and corporate world of aviation. the only time pitch is used to control airspeed is when your thrust is fixed. Meaning that you are at flight idle or at max continues thrust. At all other times thrust controls airspeed and pitch controls elevation. Adjusting one will almost always require an adjustment of the other. I didn't mean to take liberties with your knowledge of how to fly, but I just saw your posting and thought it a good opportunity to weigh in on how I approach the ILS in the F-15 for the sake of any aviation newbies who may be trying their hand at this awesome simulator. Hi All, I finally flew a descent (I didn't get shot down and I killed the Mig) home made mission which I saved to a track file. While trying to learn the ins and outs of what I could do with the track I emailed it to myself and tried to replay it from from the email attachment. Windows 7 can't replay the file for me. Does anyone know how to do this? I have a friend who loves airplanes but doesn't own DCS and I am trying to get his interest up. Thanks

So, I am still learning DCS and I like to build missions so that I can work on developing certain skills. Today, I set about to build a mission that starts at 21:00 as I want to fly in the dark and complete an ILS. When I went to fly the mission, I get a map and the mission doesn't start. I have built other mission with the default start time with no problems. Now today, rather than the mission starting, all I see is the map. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Hi Everyone, While researching custom snap views for the A-10C here in the forums and on wiki, I learned that one must get into the config files and change a line of code in order to change the default snap views. While trying to do so I wound up with: ProgramFiles\...\config\view\snapviewsdefault.lua "The Archive is either in unknown format or damaged." I get the same message for any path ending with .lua Can anyone shed some insight on how to fix this problem? Also after the message pops up about the unknown format another dialog box pops up and tells me I need to buy winRar. Is winRar elated to this problem? Thanks
