No worries , lesson learnt , why do you think i have not bothered to show , or bring anything else new to the LO forums in the last few months ? once bitten , twice shy , i don't tend to repeat mistakes once i get this this new pc up and running next week , i am going off to pc game big time - got about 40 titles to check out , so LO will be long gone for quite a while

no man ,wrong again ! , i offered you the blackjack , you said no , thats good enough for me , i was kind enough to make you the offer back in the jsf thred , to get it finished for the community to use - i respect your decision to decline it , no hard feelings from me - my rant above is not directed at you as i said before i have no problem with you , and i respect your decision , and your declining the blackjack no problem all i did re the a10 was offer you the info - i have on the a10 - as a fellow 3d modeller - i thought you should know - i have concerns about its origin - that was and is the only reaon i posted in this thred initially my advice to you is not to think that when i or anyone else posts stuff here on this forum , or even in this a10 thred , that its about or directed at you - you are not that important my friend , no one is - perhaps take a trip down the mountain , and get your head out of the clouds ) kindly note , the blackjack thred , its making , and me offering it to the community - and asking for help - pre dates your appearance and entrance onto these forums recently - so in NO way does my rant apply to you ) If you take the time to do your research and actually back read the forum threds , and note times and dates , you will see i have asked on numerous times for help , and i have made it plain , that the blackjack model was sitting here waiting for the appropriate community help . I only approached you in the jsf thred becoz , you seemed to posess the appropriate skills required , and i thought you might like the job / challenge - trust me i don't just approach anyone , and you should take that as a compliment and in the spirit it was offered )

You know what makes me really laugh , is when people on these boards talk about community and help from my personal experience - i offered the community a brand new 3d Tu 160 Mr Blackjack - it was offered free with 2 conditions to a talented individual to help finish the project - basically keep the 3dmax file private / ok to release the lom file for all to fly free - it needed / needs skinning and animation now to date a number of months down the line none of you - to a man or woman - have the skill to come forward and take the challenge and finish the project ! so yep it makes me real mad when people talk about community help / community feedback / community vetting and criticism/ critique of any new genuine 100% original 3d work project and yep it makes me mad when people come onto the forums with new 3d stuff - that never gets finished or released - or oh dear the model disappears becoz of a hard drive crash - and oh dear i forgot to back it up to a 50 cents blank dvd - duh!! despite i worked on it night and day for like a year ! shall i continue ? -it also makes me mad that the free lunch brigade wants wants wants and never gives gives gives ,the required help - and frankly it seems the majority could not give a toss where a 3d model comes from, as long as you get a new free flyable plane - frankly from what i see and read and my experience of the so called community around here you don't deserve it you would rather flame any messenger ,than get off your bums and actually help out , when help is required and asked for , and contribute something constructive to the mix , to benefit all for your collective info ,i stopped 3d modelling a few months ago for exactly the reasons above - i had 2 projects built - not aircraft - and 1 on hold - also right now ,i don't have the time or inclination to continue 3d stuff for LO - due to building a new pc and transferring data over to the new beast for middle of next week switch over hope you enjoyed my rant - flame away !

well your just another fine example of the free luncher brigade you have no idea how long or short it takes to create a model from scratch - its often quicker to build afresh , than to correct bad shaping on someone elses model or bad cutting etc when you have something credible to say other than " give me " i might take your comments on board

throw your rattle out of the pram why don't you ! how do you expect me to remember and name every single 3d model i have viewed or acquired over the last 10 years ! i dumped all my 3d stuff on my hard drive last month , im order to make some new dvd backups , and it came to 15 gigabytes or raw data , mainly 3dmax files ! i do know tho which models i made and which models i have collected shall we say from various sources , and i do know and recognise that a10 model - and it did not come from you or this forum ! so all i am saying is GUYS BE CAREFUL , i think that a10 model comes from somewhere else - it may be better and more sensible to make a 100% afresh 3d model if you can't accept that , or in the spirit it is offered , then shame on you ! and while we are at it ,stop misquoting me , and putting words in my mouth , and saying i am accusing individuals of stealing . If i wanted to say person x or y was a thief , i would come out and just say it !

on many forums , people claim ownership and work which is not their own , thats 3d modding for you and there are ways and means at getting hold of 3d models and into 3dmax form i have this a10 model i acquired it for my own reference usage , not from you or that guy , so you tell me ? maybe the guy you are quoting did the same , to mod his project ?? and no i am not going to tell you how exactly i did it or from where if you guys are happy to proceed , then cool , go ahead , i am not the 3d police force , just be careful with 3d models , and don't always believe everything you are told all i know is that the a10 i have was not built by me , and i got to it , and it came from an engine , was built by an author , and was not destined for Lo originally - i have probably 1000 ref models like this - is it payware ? honestly can't remember - but i would not use it myself and try to pass it off to a new game engine as is - i would rebuild it , use it as a helper / reference - eg 100% new build material , nothing wrong in doing that hence my suggestion build a new model

read more carefully - where did i accuse any named individual of stealing ? never posted in a10 thred before as it was dead , there was no need - but since you resurrected it , felt it best to point out put it this way i could give you guys 3dmax models of commercial models - with copywrites on and eula's and all sorts of legal stuff - yes you could convert them into Lo , but does that make it right ? , and yes you could get into legal trouble from the original authors , if they found out thats my point in a nutshell you guys just want a new a10 and could not care less about where it came from etc - thats your call i just did not want to see anyone get into any trouble

Ok well firstly i never have done drugs , and never will so no thanks i am not high ! as i said before - how come i have that exact same a10 model with all its flaws etc ???? i know where it came from , and its not where you guys think it did , or was made by - as i said at best it has dubious origins , and could be considered as stolen - as in previous threds on stuff like the f18 / f14 etc - the legality of 3d ownership and licensed usage has been discussed many times . I would not be comfortable converting it to Lo on these grounds , as i said i have a morale code and ethics , on 3d model ownership and usage of others original work ! all i am saying is i think Lo models need to be 50k polys - and imo it would be best to make an a10 afresh , and i am trying to point out that you are messing with a 3d model of potentially dubious ownership and legality why not just made a fresh model 100% and avoid any hassle and problems ?

the level of detail on the model is ridiculous frankly for the Lo game engine you need to check back on the forums , the correct maximum poly size for aircraft , and reduce - or build to accordingly ! also this model is still a stolen ,or a model of highly dubious origin at best - and you should not feel comfortable in that fact , modifying / rebuilding sections or whatever ! you are simple feeding the free lunch brigade , and not producing a legit 100% your own work model , to my ethics and morale code , this is not right and should not be applauded frankly ! sorry to rain on the parade , but thats how i see it !

well i have known for along time the origin of the a10 is not legitimate ! its not a clean fresh mesh - the mesh has been optimised and deformed by cutting recesses etc - and its original author is unknown - i have a good idea where it came from , but i will keep that to myself ! re a new a10 - someone should build a 100% afresh and genuine - their own build , 100% their own work - from the very good schematic line drawings that are out there on the web to freely download one thing i don't tolerate is people who pass off 3d models as their own work , when it is clear they either begged, borrowed or stole it , or purchased it from somewhere to modify - and claim it for their own work / creation - frankly this sucks and its dishonest at minimum . I have literally hundreds of 3d models which i have aquired from different sources - which i couild easily import into LO , and post screenshots to prove it , but thats not the point of doing 3d stuff as a hobby , and certainly not the spirit behind 3d modding any game engine !

Nvidia all the way for me - i was a 3dfx fan boy , and now i am a nvidia fan boy - lol :-) to me nvidia and games , is like bread and butter )

well i would like to give you my tu 160 blackjack to finish off , and put into Lo as a flyable , if you want it contact me , and i will give you the completed 3dmax file - finished to the best of my abilities - thred and pics of it are on this forum from a month or so ago ! i have seen your jsf youtube video - and i say awesome bring it on , and other 3d models besides - i am tempted to build some more 3d shapes and donate them over to you in the future ! you have done what most here can't you have delivered ! you made something new and added into Lo - frankly forget Ed , forget asking what the comminity of whiners , and free lunchers want - do what you want , make what you desire - do it for yourself , make it downloadable - thats the best democratic choice - don't ask just do your own thing :-)

yep no worries i will report my impresions - i am hoping for a big wow factor on the new cpu and vid card - especially as this old pc i am on now - is amd athlon 1900 @ 1.6ghz , and 3d card is gf4 ti 4200 @128mbs - so a 7 year gap in technology and speed ! i have not even been able to play proper dx9 pc games for quite a while ,becoz of the old dx8 gf4 3d vid card , so i have at least 40 titles to check out here , for example battlefield 2 had corrupted texures , other games would not run at all eg hitman 3 and many others the game i played some before prey was just cause - and it ran surprisingly well on this old rig - fabby looking virtual world too - so the new pc cpu and the gtx 8800 768mb can only i hope make things awesome - i am expecting big things in terms of speed , visual look and fluidity with all details maxxed out and buckets full of aa and af )

well sometime next week i will have my e6850 cpu new pc , and i will be doing alot of gaming - i have about 40 titles to test and play , with i have never seen running on my old / current pc , along with older titles i intend to revisit and replay , with everything maxxed out detail wise , with aa and af x 16 on the 8800 gtx vid card - so i will be in gaming heaven overload i hope ) the deal i have struck with the wife tho - is after i have the pc all set up , my 1st priority is to convert to dvd the 8 hours of avi video footage i have of my 2 yr old daughter , once this task is complete i am free to game away in my free time ) the last pc game i played on this old rig to completion a few months ago was prey - i will revisit this title and replay for sure sometime on the new pc e6850 cpu anyway - i will post some feedback on my experience and hopefully satisfaction when i get gaming on the new rig ) Roger

just wanted to throw a sobering thought into the mix , and its kind of a reality check in regard to spending thousands of pounds or dollars on a new pc for gaming Bioshock is out - a game like most games , took a few years to make - it yields about 20 hours gameplay max , some have finished it already quicker ! wtf ? so be realistic in terms of spending an insane amount of money on a new pc , to be able to play next gen pc titles like crysis and other hyped titles - you may find the hours of gameplay divided by the cost of your new beast pc , may prove to be very expensive on an hourly rate !

well i read 2 good web reviews last night , one was scary ! scary one was on toms hardware i think - a general do and don'ts about overclocking and the pros and cons and the risks involved - taking into account my wife , and what she would do to me if i overclocked and fried our new pc which is to arrive next week - i think i can say i am scared scared scared and scared again to even attempt to overclock , both from a financial point of view and also the prospect of my testicles ending up in the george foreman grill - lol so i won't be overclocking my new rig period the other article was a review of the intel e6850 core 2 duo - which basically said it was a sweet cpu - good cooling energy consumption etc - and it said its wicked fast on games and excellent for encoding videos etc - i use my pc to encode from my sony dv handycam, avi format to dvd , and burn dvd disk footage of my toddler - i have 8 hours of footage here to make into dvd - becoz my old pc is throwing errors and is no longer capable of doing video conversion - this was the catalyst to get this new pc purchase anyway in conclusion - 1 i won't overclock - 2 i am even more happy in the purchase choice i made on reading that review - all i need now is for the new pc to arrive - so i can test / use it and hopefully be very happy with it - fingers crossed ) Roger

well whatever cpu you get , a new faster one will come along too quickly , thats just pcs for you ) mentally for me upgrade wise ,i wanted to double my speed from my amd 1.6 ghz to a genuine 3ghz - hence i got the intel core 2 duo e6850 - its factory clocked at 3ghz and guaranteed etc - and the price is not stupidly high ! my advice would be core 2 duo at least 3ghz - the money you save now , could buy you a new cpu in say 2 or 3 years time , when god only knows what speed and cores new cpus will have , and also will allow software / games etc to catch up in terms of dx10 , fully exploiting the 8800 gtx 3d card - and maybe then new games will be written for dual cores or more - as the customer user base of these cpus increases - also by then probably vista will be more established with gamers . Often the man who waits is the man who wins , if you can get great performance now at reasonable cost , grab it , and save your extra cash for the next big leap , a few years down the road ) Roger

if you go to the zmodeler forums , you can talk with the zmodeller programmer guy - if you talk with him , it is possible he could investigate and solve the lom to 3ds export issue - i think from reading there , he likes a challenge ) anyway lom is the LO 3d file format there is a LO thred over at that forum , so start / revive that and see what happens )

from a gaming point of view , its highly unlikely anything will ever be specifically written / coded to utilise a quad core cpu by developers dual core are more popular with the gaming masses quad cores are targetted more at multi taskers , like video editors etc

well Nvidia is in the lead right now , in terms of 3d card horsepower - i have never had a ati 3d card , always had the 3dfx cards , then went to nvidia you can get an 8800 gts nvidia in 2 flavours - 320 mb and 640 mb - but the current top beast is the 8800 gtx with 768 mb on board - it has all the pipelines intact - and should last you a good few years when proper dx10 games come out - also it will eat crysis and other titles ! all the reviews of the 8800 gtx say you can turn up all the details on your games to max - run 16 times aa and af settings - run in rezs like 1600 + , and the card and games keep going and giving - it is an awesome card ! check youtube for videos of guys demoing games on these cards you could get 2 and run sli wtf ? - but you need to make sure your new pc case has the appropriate psu - power supply unit to run the card - i think 580 watts for 1 card alone - my pc builder is putting in a 700 jeantech silent psu to run both the 8800 gtx and the intel e6850 3ghz - so its important to build and power for the hardware you choose in terms of price on the 8800 320 / 640 / and 768 versions - there is not a great difference in price - if you intend like me to keep your new pc for quite a good few years and want to keep gaming - go for the 768 mb , you won't be disapointed i recomend read alot of web reviews on the 8800 gtx generally speaking right now intel and nvidia are top - tech wise / price wise and speed wise - where as ati and amd , are bringing up the rear - maybe in a few years the positions will be reversed , but right now Intel and nvidia are at the forefront man i hate to say intel are top , becoz amd has done so much to bring down prices and stuff over the years , and the competition etc - i was so pleased 6 years ago to buy amd again for my 1900+ , as i was so pleased to be not giving even more money to intel to make them more dominant ! unfortunately 2 days ago - i bought the intel e6850 cpu - mentally it hurt a bit - but the tech truth is ,right now the intel core 2 duo is the best buy / tech chip for my needs etc anyway hope this helps ) make sure you read some good online reviews on both the nvidia and ati cards on offer now , and make up your own mind - and visit youtube to check out vids of the games and 3d cards running ) Roger )

I don't want to debate vista - but even uk pc gaming magazines advise not to upgrade to vista yet ! i read alot of pc gaming forums etc , and for me thats good enough along with what i read , make your own mind up - i won't touch it yet - nor will many others ! if its good for you cool ) but i do my research , and make my own mind up - suggest all do the same )

here is the new pc i have just purchsed for uk pounds 1100 - spec below ASUS P5N-E SLI nvidia 8800gtx 768 mb 3d card E6850+3GHZ 4GB CORSAIR XMS2 2X 250GB SATA 2 SoundBlaster Audigy THERMALTAKE SOPRANO CASE (BLACK) DVDR+RW LIGHTSCRIBE DVD DRIVE 700W PSU(You really do need a high quality PSU For 8800gtx and e6850!)And 8 USB ports+Ethernet XP Home SP2 WITH DISK its coming to me next week - i play games , do 3dmax , do video editing to make dvds of my toddler , record music - electronic drums and make mp3s , as well as all the usual stuff ,like web , burn dvds etc etc my pc i am on now is 6 years old - its an athlon 1900+ - so 1.6 ghz - has 640 ram , and has an old soundblaster card , dvd burner - 2 hds totalling 100gb and an old nvidia geforce 4 ti 4200 128mc 3d card this AMD pc has been brilliant - but i have about 40 pc games here i can't play , and this pc is now throwing errors and lockups - so its time to upgrade , hence my new purchase below ) this machine has been very well used and pushed to its limits , and has never let me down - and as far as i a concerned AMD did and still does rock ! but on doing alot of research over months and months - intel currently rock a bit more with the core 2 duo chips - hence i opted for the e6850 at 3 ghz - i never have and never will overclock - so i wanted a genuine factory speed 3ghz cpu over years i have had intel dx 33 dx2-66 cpu , amd 500 1333 and 1900+ cpu's - they have all rocked - and intel / amd competition is healthy for us as gamers / customers - i have always had soundblaster sound cards for gaming - never had any major problems - note new motherboards now have soundcards built in - but i still opt for a soundblaster card in my new pc - a basic card for gaming that does 7.1 audio etc so in conclusion , don't be an amd / intel fan boy , be savvy , do research on price / performance etc , and make right decision for you i know i have chosen the right new pc for me - the e6850 intel at 3ghz not overclocked - and i know and hope it will last me a good few years , like the amd 1900 did - if in the future , next time i buy a pc, amd are back at the top - i will happily go back and buy amd cpu , but right now intel are in the lead at this purchase time i hope this info / insight proves helpful Roger :-)
