Can i make 2 sensible and sane requests of ED to help 3d modding of LO flourish futher 1 - could you please release a 3dmax or 3ds file of your LO pilot character , so that 3d modders can add your pilot dude to our models please - i am 1 week away from showing my new model - just wing and missile , and a gear bay left to do - and i would very much love to be able to add your pilot character to my plane cockpit please 2 - can we have some official feedback from ED on the possibility of an object placement utility - by that i mean would it be possible for Ed to create a small simple util tool , that would enable 3d modders to add permanently new objects into the game engine , and be recognised by the game engine , without having to remove an existing object - for example say i wanted to add a new military hovercraft to the mission editor - i would like it in the game library 3d engine permanently with an appropriate entry for use, the same obviously with new community made 3d aircraft etc Can we have some serious official consideration and feedback on these issues please thankyou Roger

ok thanks , no problemo i like posting here , i don't want to get a bad rep or upset anyone Roger :-)

All this source code talk is very unhelpful - source code is not needed and its very disrectful to ED please people think what would actually be helpful to modding LO in terms of adding new 3d stuff - then if there was enough sensible support and consensus for such ideas, we should all ask ED very nicely if they would support us all, and kindly release some new tool utilities ! i have tried to make some sensible suggestons like others - comparing Lo to FS2004 modding - suggesting cockpit editor / object slot placement utility - so we can actually add new objects to the game engine without removing others - this is vital i feel if the masses want to see LO actually expand and flourish in terms of both new and enhanced 3d content , on a free community modded basis ! it would be nice to have new planes / ships and vehicles and perhaps scenery pieces , and actually be able to add them permanently and relatively easily into the game engine to enhance the LO virtual world .

BS to me is part of the english language and i used it in context - not as a swear word or profanity ! as for my attitude - i don't have an attitude thankyou , as a 38 year old married man , and a father - i simply have an opinion which i have expressed i waited 6 pages on this thred to give my opinion , and call it as i see it , its a general opinion , and was not aimed at any one specific person kindly do not level threats at me - i consider your last sentance a threat - and could question your attitude ! i have expressed my views clearly and concisely and feel i have nothing further to say on particular thred subject what needed to be said i feel has been said quite clearly . -

Lets cut all the bull shit - basically you have no business trying to do 3d modding , if you can't have the decency and respect to build a 3d model yourself from scratch , using schematic line drawings , your own work - thats my take on all this ! i really hate it when people on the web on all sorts of forums - try to mod game x or y - seek to beg borrow , steal or pass off , or misrepresent their talents or lack off when presenting so called new 3d models its called respect , talent and putting in some hard graft / work , spending often many hundrads of your own free time hours to create something that is truly yours - and the end result is a great feeling of self worth , and ultimately enjoyment that you have created something yourself ! -

yep i found that out about LO FC and the tool eventually and guess what i won't buy FC becoz its starforce infected - period my pc is one of those that has been damaged by SF from another pc game that i was stupid enough to let install with SF - seriously (( anyway i run vanilla lomac with the 1.2 patch i think ) -

well get this - LO VIEWER has never worked on my version of LOMAC ever ! and posts with the error message were posted etc by various people - at least 2 threds in the past i know of - and no devs ever replied with a reason why or solution - great tech support i feel ( i have never been able to view any of the game 3d models via this tool - i just gave up - and do my own 3d thing anyway - my idea of a 3d modding production line in another thred still stands - pool resources and people - build a model - share it with the people with skills ABC ETC - and voila - at the end of the process the community gets a nice new 3d plane or object to utilise in game IF a modding slots tool became available - it would make adding stuff in game nice too - without having to transvestite or replace existing objects in favour for a new model ) -

I have nothing more to say on this particular issue but seeing as you guys like buying models - does anyone have a 3dmax or .3ds model of a good f-35 jsf model i have the 3 good color pictures of the different versions of the f-35 from the manufacturer - each pic is front side and top views - but want i need badly is some cross section slices thru thru the body of the F-35 , so i can model my versions of the f-35 correctly so if anyone fancies buying me ,or donationg to me a F-35 3d model for help / reference purposes - that would be sweet - alternatively does anyone have schematic line drawings showing the cross sections - i have searched the web high and low - and found none ! my models will be 100% new material and my own workmanship ) -
thanks very much )) they were built a while ago - in less than a week a new model will be done here - i will post up pics once completed if you can learn how to uvw / skin and animate in 3dmax you would be a big help around here to us modellers - amd models might actually get in the lomac game engine too ) Roger

mess with source code ? disagree with that i think what all would like would be the ability to add new stuff to lomac , in the same fashion as u can mod / add to ms fs2004 eg you can add cockpit , plane / vehicle / scenery in a free / addable slot easily into ms fs2004 game engine you can't do this to lomac - unless you transvestite / remove an existing model - not good we don't need source code - but a new tool / editor that would enable slotting in of new stuff into the game engine / object database and the ability to make cockpits for those inclined to do so - would be fantastic modding addition tools :-)

If you can model and use 3dmax , why the hell do you guys need to beg / borrow / buy / steal or whatever other peoples models for ? why not just mount some very decent schematic line drawings of the f14 into 3dmax - and model it 100% yourself to your own technique and an appropriate poly count . There is nothing wrong with viewing other 3d models as a reference or source of inspiration - or to scratch ones head and think - why the hell did you model piece A that way , and why so many damn polys used so inefficiently , i do this alot , then go and do my own models 100% my own way , my own work . to do what you are doing is just wrong in my opinion , and a real arse about face way or doing a new decent lomac new model whatever the legalese stuff says or does not say , and whether you fess up to the community about what your skills are , and what bits you made / did not make or modify - its just wrong plain and simple i bet the original 3d author would be less than happy at your actions - i would be furious if i sold my stuff , and someone pulled it apart to cough rebuild ! there are some great f14 schematics here to mount in 3dmax and model 100% afresh your own work http://www.airwar.ru/other/drawe.html -

60000 polys is the highest i have been modelling too i believe this is the optimal highest figure , but less is more and if i cam make a nice model below this , all the better for me 60k is the limit , not the target 60k could deliver a very nice originally modelled f14 tomcat for sure ) -

i think you will find the a10 model has a dubious history of origin i can assure you that if an individual mounted schematic line drawings into 3dmax to make an original a10 model from scratch - the 3dmax files of the model would / should never be lost - doing sensible 2 hard drive back up , and also burning a cd / dvd of ongoing modelling or finished model - takes minutes and minimal cost to save out ! - the current model i am making has probably been saved to 3000 max files in total as build progresses and i save every few minutes - max increment saves the files as you go - set in options for example i have been building some engines last night for my new plane - and i have 250 saved max files called engine 01 thru to 250 the idea that one can make an original 3d model , and loose it by not saving / backing up or thru hard ware failure like a pc crash / hard drive failure - beggars belief of extreme stupidity - particularly when you consider the hours one models for i have spent at least 125 hours on my current project over the last 6 weeks at least ! -
How do you animate 3D models?
Troffmeister replied to SuperKungFu's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
What we need is a Lomac production line of 3d modding imho - those that can build - build 3d model and then hand model over to trusted individuals - that can animate / uvw / skin and do the necessary tweaks to lomac game engine - ise the model - lastly the model can then be made into a lom file and then it could be publically released - for all to fly and enjoy etc Frankly its too much work for 1 person to do all the aspects required - eg build the model , skin , engine it , etc etc - i am sure someone ot there could do it alone - but speaking personally - its a hell of alot of work per each 1 model in your spare time to do alone - what with life / job / kid / wife and limited free time in evenings to model and or relax etc ! btw my new model will make a public picture appearance later this week all being well - :-) Roger -

sorry but this is sooo wrong on so many levels in my opinion 1 its not your model - you did not make it from scratch from schematic line drawings etc 2 copywrite etc - cough ?? 3 how about some consideration for those that run lomac on older pcs and video cards ? 4 you can make a very decent looking model at around or below 60000 polys , if you model cleanly and efficiently without hidden faces etc - sometimes less is more ! -
frankly i hate all your signatures - they are pointless - remove them all - and say something constructive worth reading - most of the time the sig pic and comments are bigger than the post ! i really really hate sigs on forums period ! my opinion as for ed code and stuff - it would be nice to have a means of implementing a cockpit for new 3d models or updated models - also i would like a fly all executable - a legit one - so i can fly all planes - ai included in the mission editor for fun ) lastly - why not allow multiple new objects to be easily incorporated into the game by modders - by releasing some tool or means of opening up , and implementing new object slots easily into the game engine - to summarise - some nice new tools or 3d modding abilities for me would be 1 - add cockpits as above 2- fly all planes legit in mission editor for fun / testing / 3d modding purposes 3- a tool or means of new object slots into the game engine - without the need to remove or transvestite existing game objects Roger

looks gr8 )

i did not say it had 32 sides - i said it needs to be rounder - so that we the users cannot see / count the number of sides the nose was made out of - i suggested a 32 sided cylinder would be nice and smooth - more would be better obviously to give more roundness ) i am just adding constructive criticism to improve the models nose shape roundness )
-
if you look closely at the nose - you can see and count the sides of the cylinder used for the nose etc - ok its not as bad as the 12 sided flanker , but hey you have 60000 polys to model too - there really is no excuse to have the most visual part of the plane , the nose , the part people notice and crtiticise smoothness wise - angular ? why did you not use a 32 sided cylinder or more for the nose to ensure roundness ? btw - the wing flaps etc are great :-)
