Damn, that's sick! Probably drug dealers fighting back or something. And yes! A Blue transport helicopter faster than the UH-1 is more than welcome. Wouldn't mind the Ch-47 either.

It's only a few missions with MiG-29A's and F-14A's included. And it's always 2 slots for each type with very limited numbers. MiG-21's and F-5's are often enough successful against the big birds. It'll be more interesting to see what happens when the MiG-23 is added to Red and the F-1 to Blue. Both have "decent" radar missiles, you know. Oh, and the F-4 one day maybe. The rear aspect scenario will remain, no worries. It's just that the modules on the way are certainly going to alter that a bit. Just a bit.

It's a known bug and I've reported it long time ago and still nothing. Very frustrating. See here. The idea is to have rear aspect missiles only. There used to be all aspect missiles for years on the server. Dogfights didn't really last that long. Head on kills were a normality. With rear aspect missiles only, the challenge is way more demanding and pilots have to show some skill. Unfortunately, not all aircraft have access to rear aspect missiles in DCS. And it's only the Su-25 and the MiG-29A. For a long time the Su-25 would fly without having any air-to-air missiles hoping for MiG's to provide cover, while A-10A's always had access to rear aspect missiles -> AIM-9P. I don't want to go back to all aspect missiles for all, on the other hand I can't keep Su-25's so defenceless any longer. Keep in mind that F-14A's also have an all aspect IR missile -> AIM-9L. With that, the R-60M is only for MiG-29A's and now for Su-25's too.

You got a point. No dust then.

I knew you were going to say that. Bloody VR players Joke aside, I was mainly talking about the TV cameras. Not saying your VR thing is neglected.

Round 7 kicks off on Saturday, 09.10.2021, around 1800 zulu. The server will be locked up with a password. Get on TeamSpeak 10-15 minutes prior to the event for a quick briefing and to get the password. Note that I use the TeamSpeak 3 channel of the 104th Phoenix server. When tuned in, scroll all the way down to see it. TeamSpeak 3 IP: ts50.gameservers.com:9132 TeamSpeak 3 password: phoenix Mission's Change Log: - Added 12 x AV-8B's (2 x slots) operating from the aircraft carrier, Theodore Roosevelt. - Blue ships are now mobile and not stationary any more. - Aircraft numbers and their slots adjusted (reduced some and increased some). - Added reserve slots for Falcons, Hornets and Harriers at Ramat David Airbase. - That means if players land and leave their Falcons/Hornets/Harriers at Ramat David Airbase, the reserve slot becomes alive for that particular type of aircraft. - Removed SA-15's escorting Red tanks on their way to the objective. - Removed SA-13's escorting Red tanks on their way to the objective. - Briefing and briefing images adjusted. - Ground units' advanced options optimised. - Updated the second post of this thread for a better aircraft overview and available weapons.

Server News: Operation Close Air Support: - Mi-24P's are restricted to 4 x ATGM's. Outer pylons (wing tips) only. - Added 10 more SA342L's (used to be 6 only, so now it's 16). - Added 8 x Shilkas and 12 x Vulcans at the frontlines. - The amount of deployed assault troops is increased by 33%. That means more assault troops (or squads) and not troops within a deployed squad. - Yak-52's don't spawn - Fixed. - Briefing adjusted. Dust: If I'm to add dust to the mission, would that limit Hinds' and Gazelles' TV cameras in DCS? Petrovich might not have an issue, but players maybe? Can someone test that in the Gazelle, please? ***************************************************************************************************************************************** Operation Search & Destroy goes online tonight. Note that MiG-29A's and Su-25's have access to R-60M's. MiG-21's don't. Operation Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed goes online tomorrow night. Note that MiG-29A's and Su-25's have access to R-60M's. MiG-21's don't. One of the Limited Editions will go online next weekend. Will be announced soon.

(Not sure if this is the right place for this thread) Can we have the ability to start a vote within a post rather than threads only? Quite often I need to start a vote for server related issues (Cold War 1947 - 1991 server) asking players what missions, modules or assets, etc. they'd rather have for so many different reasons, but as of now it's only possible if I'd start a whole new thread just for that purpose. And before "threads for voting" become an issue and forums are plagued with it, it'd be a huge asset to enable voting within posts. You could (or maybe should?) make it a thing for the thread owner only to perhaps avoid random and unnecessary votings initiated by users. Godspeed, ED!

Server News: * R-60M's were added to all missions where Su-25's and MiG-29A's didn't have them, because MiG-21's would have access to them as well. * The new option in the Mission Editor enables that while thankfully disabling R-60M's for MiG-21's. Operation Fight Island: - Removed all 12 x Su-25T's. - Instead, 12 x Su-25's were added -> 2 x slots. Operation Open Range: - Reduced the amount of structures at both the Red Factory and the Red Water Station by ca. 50%. - This should help Blue get the job done.

Sorry, guys, was away for a couple of days and monitoring the server during yesterday's flight was nigh impossible. Server's updated and back online! EDIT: Helos have access to EWR now? Sweet!
-
You're talking about the start up procedure, mate. There's nothing in a FARP that has anything to do with it. Nevertheless, I'll delete the unit and put it back again and see if that fixes things. However, I'm not at my computer for a couple of more days. A bit busy, so bear with me, please.

Very nice footage! Pretty much telling the whole story. -
So far the Viggen has always been added to the missions to accomplish air-to-ground operations. Giving some of them the ability to go air-to-air only, would force me to add more slots to compensate for the the lack of Viggens doing air-to-ground. That'd be more Viggens than I ever wanted (Swedish Delivery is an exception). Obviously, if you want to go air-to-air only you can still do that with 2-4 missiles. Always remember that F-5's and MiG-19's have only 2. Must be on your end, I'm afraid. All single helipads are the same. Same static object. The Bradley is just as fast and can easily take out multiple BMP-2's before they could react. Pretty much comparable with the Abrams vs the T-72 scenario. Blue has never won the mission, that's true. Not even when the Harrier was around. Can't tell you why though.
-
If that's the case then I guess we're maybe just blinded by what we see, in terms of how specific aircraft are used and for what purposes, rather than what they were designed for. Any particular books you read in that regard?

Exactly. And that's where the nature of Soviet Military doctrine is perceived. Ever since WWll it has been the Americans who often knocked on Russia's door: Korea, Vietnam, Laotian Civil War, Korean DMZ Conflict, Cambodia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Georgia, Ukraine, etc. (did I forget something?). From a geographical point of view that's literally crawling up on Russia or trying to get within range for further and more expanded military operations. While it sounds all political now, but that's not my point here. The point is, Russia is more or less forced into the role of a defender! Hence the need for interceptors. And there's what rossmum wrote which also makes sense, but doesn't necessarily suspend What you or I just wrote.

I'm on TS right now. -
Server News: - Operation Street Fight has been removed from the server. It's the mission with the lowest population. - Work on Close Air Support 2 continues (the mission's name will change). It'll take a while to finish, because I'm trying to implement something really challenging, but it's worth it!!!

Cold War 1947 - 1991 *** 3rd Limited Edition ***

The explosions combined with the nuke hit might cause sever lag and perhaps crash the game for some. At least that's what I saw while testing the mission. I'll see what I can do. I must've forgotten to add the fuel tanks back again after fixing the warehouses. Consider it done. -
As far as I always knew/thought, MiG's were primarily designed to intercept American bombers. Quick start up procedure, mostly no alignment needed, one engine preferred over two (again, quicker start up: MiG-15, -17, -21, -23, but in time that had to change to adapt to more developed American assets), etc. Egyptian pilots had their MiG-21's in ca. 50 seconds ready to go! I remember reading more or less the same about Vietnamese pilots.

Cold War 1947 - 1991 *** 3rd Limited Edition ***

Mission's Change Log: - Fuel tanks for Su-25T's were added. - SPS-141-100 (jammer pod) for MiG-21's was added. - The NASAMS at Khasab was replaced by a Hawk SAM site.. (I really wanted to test the NASAMS system and as anticipated it was rubbish). - Added CBU-97's, but only at Ras Al Khaimah Intl Airbase. - Corrected some flight paths of F-14A's, M-2000C's and F-15C's. -
The Mirage's wings' are way wider (wingspan) and longer (e.g. longer alongside the fuselage). Think of each wing as a right triangle of which all 3 legs are longer with the leading edge being wider. That's a bigger space of the two wings together and thus more lift. And let's not forget the engine with more thrust than the Fishbed's 1,33:1. Other factors are not to be neglected, but that's mainly a reference to the wings you talked about.

Cold War 1947 - 1991 *** 3rd Limited Edition ***
Alpenwolf replied to Alpenwolf's topic in Multiplayer
I'll add some CBU-97's. Fuel tanks were added, but nothing else. I don't want the Su-25T to be able to attack the ships as it is the Fishbeds' objective. The trigger was fine, I changed something else. Tiny little details aren't necessary, let alone what was corrected and how. Superfluous information. -

- The nuke not causing damage is something ED must fix. - The ships shouldn't sink anyway in relatively shallow waters at the harbour. - I sometimes use the jammer as well. I'll add it. - Thanks for reminding me about the thing with the SAM's. Will do -

Mission's Upgrade: - Red EWR at Bandar-e-Jask Airbase is now protected by the SA-2 SAM battery. - F-16CM's unable to carry 6 x AGM-65H missiles (2 only) - Fixed. - Sound file for the B-1 comms was too loud (Blue players were startled) - Fixed. - Destroying the western taxiway at Qeshm Island Airasbe doesn't trigger any flags - Fixed. - Added more fuel tanks for the F-16CM's. - Added the following to the Objectives' Overview: "Note: Feel free to attack anything else as you see fit, but ONLY after finishing the aforementioned objectives." - Added CBU-105 bombs (enabled for F-16CM's only). -
Would love to, but I've got things to do. You know, real life. Therefore, this mission (or the like) will go online in 2-3 weeks.
