I thought about that too, but I also have limited aircraft (e.g. 8 x MiG-21 slots with 60 MiG-21's available in the warehouse) in my missions, so that's my own curse, I guess
-
Trust me, I've thought about it and like you said it's a LOT of work! It's not just the nuke bombs, but so many assets including the numbers of aircraft. So, I'll always have to at least fix the aircraft and helicopters' numbers in all airbases and FARP's (single FARP's actually). Fixing the assets in the warehouses takes me 5-7 minutes to do. Then I copy that file to all the other missions of the same map. After that it's only the aircraft numbers I'll have to do manually for each an every airbase/FARP separately. Just finished Fight Island and it took me about 15 minutes. When all weapons are available, and when checking out the warehouses through cmdr or JTAC to see what's left, you get that long list of so many weapons that are not even of your concern as a pilot of a specific aircraft. That means the overview becomes annoying to work with.

Server News: The latest OB update brought the warehouses bug back. It's kind of still there to be honest, but didn't affect any Cold War assets. This time around though, it did. Hence the absence of Ataka missiles. It'll be hours and days before all missions are fixed to include the Ataka. Don't get me wrong, but it's not that urgent like back in the day when the MiG-21 was lacking its countermeasures pod, fuel tanks, and some of its air-to-air missiles. I'll fix the bloody bug, but not very soon. Sorry to disappoint you. Bug report is here.
-
The warehouses are bugged again. No Ataka missiles and only recreating the warehouses' file in each and every missions would solve the issue. In other words, hours of reworking all the missions just to fix this. Please, ED, this thing has been haunting me for years. You kind of fixed it for the last months, but it wasn't really a fix. some assets were still missing, but didn't affect my Cold War setup. Nevertheless, the bug is still there. Godspeed, ED!

+1 Also, it would be great to have whatever we draw or write to appear on the F10 map for players to see (obviously, in multiplayer, but also singleplayer missions). Imagine a certain objective is completed and then via trigger a drawing or a text appears on the map to mark or highlight something. That'd be so dynamic and a great asset for sure!

I wouldn't blame the AI that much. I bet you players (so... Humans) commit way more friendly fire than the AI I was often enough shot down by friendlies while being on a bandit's six, because they were behind both me and the bandit and couldn't resist not taking the shot. I watch quite enough tacviews to know that (mostly with fast forward and mainly the parts I'm involved in, so it really is a matter of minutes) and I can only recommend players to do so as well. Nothing has changed since the last update in that regard. It was an extremely unlucky situation that got your F-5's shot down like that. But hey, at least your MANPAD's and Chaparrals track and hit well. Our bloody MANPAD's and Strela-9's are really rubbish By the way, it was a good session. We (Red) managed to destroy both Lakatamia and Larnaca Airbases, despite being heavily outnumbered for the first 40-50 minutes and the last 30 or so minutes. The Reds were hardly on comms, so if they had been, I think we would've finished the job. On a side note, it is a tough mission to win and can be very frustrating to some (especially, when being attacked on the taxiway or while taking off/landing), but I think it's a nice change. Hope players can see now why attacking main airbases is not allowed. It results in players of one side leaving the server and the game is instantly over. Used to be allowed in the first years of hosting, then lots of complaints were the result of that and I had to inject this rule, which is understandably annoying to some.

It was announced by ED.

The MiG-29A will be a full fidelity module by the end of next year. Replacing a full fidelity module like the F-14A with a FC3 airplane is certainly a step backwards, unless you meant that in a sarcastic way. Probably you did. F-14A's are quite often shot down by MiG's because their radar is apparently as "good/bad" as it's supposed to be, unlike FC3 planes. Players can live with that and they do. If you're referring to the Su-27 addition in the mission Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed, then you should know that this mission goes online only once in a while (same as Prince of Persia and Search & Destroy, although these two go online more often). They're not part of the daily rotation. Last time Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed went online was on 02.10.2021. So, there you go. That's once in a while. No one should feel compelled to donate. It's your and others free choice. At least it should be that way. Now, if you don't feel like donating because some missions are not to your liking or any of that, then please, don't. Most players don't and they do like the missions. Is that me being unappreciative? No, man, never. So, if you feel like regretting any donation then let me know, please, and I'll send the money back. I don't want anyone to regret anything or feel betrayed or conned into doing something. That's not me. Never me. Anyways, I actually dropped by to announce the following: - Dust has been disabled in all PG missions. - I don't think I've ever had dust in any Caucasus or Syria mission, but if I do, let me know and I'll disable it. - The laser code in the CTLD script has been changed to 1511 in some missions, as suggested by you in one of the pm's. More missions to follow.
-
That, and hopefully some fixing for the MiG-21's radar. Also, let's hope the MiG-23 and the F-1 don't have an over performing radar like the miG-21's. So, it's not just the missiles I'm worried about.

And it is a good reminder. And it's a good thing that you have mentioned the all-aspect issue that has been going on as of late. The special events with advanced aircraft being included seem to be rather very popular. It's a welcome challenge for many and a way to get away from all the standard stuff that takes place on a daily basis. The two helicopters/Combined Arms specials are there to give helicopters a rather "safer" environment to work in. You know, no fast movers, no concerns flying higher than the usual, etc. They were really fun and allowed us all to enjoy our modules form a different approach. Some players even started asking for hosting these events every weekend! While it sounds good (not to you though ), it'd be a lot of work and organisation on my side. Can't do it. Life cuts in between often enough. There are 3 Limited Editions, as I call them, and two helicopters/Combined Arms missions. That's 5. And that's it. Working on something else to include the Apache and the Kiowa one day, but that's probably it. Work on a new mission (regular/normal mission) has started a few days ago. What happens when the MiG-23 arrives one day? The F-1? The F-4, hopefully? They all carry radar guided missiles. I can't not include them in the missions. At least most missions, not all. And they will be in limited numbers. Maybe even replace the MiG-29A and the F-14A in some missions, but not all. I do think think about that and the impact these aircraft might have on the server. Only time will tell...
-
I forgot to address this issue in the previous post. It's rear-aspect only. I don't see myself going back to all-aspect any time soon or EVER! The only all-aspect aircraft are the MiG-29A and the F-14A. And as you know, they're very limited in numbers, slots, and missions.

1. I disabled that in some maps after you have requested that a while ago. Maybe I overlooked a map or two, so if you know what maps specifically, that'd help. 2. I did that in some missions, but not all. 3. I'll see to it. Note: While these are, in general, major problems to you (and maybe others, mainly VR players regarding 1 and 3), please understand that these, and to me, rather "minor" changes (as I have by comparison more pressing matters) would require me to change the CTLD scripts in all missions and alter the triggers and donation messages in all missions as well. Don't get me wrong, please, a problem is a problem regardless of how big it is, and I for sure always try to push towards perfection (obviously far from it). Nevertheless, the issues you have addressed would require a lot of work when bigger problems way less. And that's what I meant by "by comparision". Not to fail to mention that I'd have to upload all mission files back into the server's machine, which always results in having missions missing assets when running again, or basically, for the first time after changes have been made. So, it's not just a click of a button, although it might seem like it. And while we're at it, take this one example and apply it to all the seemingly tiny little problems out there to get the picture of how much work there is for me as an admin. And I'm not saying that to be commiserated or applauded. I don't need that. In fact, I despise self-pitying and self-praising. I only told you that to help you understand the situation and give your patience with me a gentle boost.

Server News: * Operation Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed: - MiG-29A's at Maykop and F-14A's at Nalchik were removed. - 10 x Su-27's (2 slots) were added at Sochi (available at mission's start). - 10 x F-14A's (2 slots) were added at Batumi (available at mission's start). - Mi-8's and UH-1's can carry infantry squads. - Each infantry squad consists of 1 x MANPAD, 2 x MG's, and 2 x RPG's. Su-27's Restrictions: R-27R's and R-73's only (note that Su-27's don't carry R-60M's). Normally, the Su-27 can carry up to 10 x air-to-air missiles. In this mission, they're restricted to 8 x missiles. The most outer pylons are for ECM pods only.

Thanks for the tip! Must be on my end then. I never had to use the combination though. Maybe I enabled something without knowing. I thought an avid helicopter pilot like yourself would appreciate the actual sling loading and the challenge that comes along with it? Overall, helicopter pilots and strikers too were very pleased wit the mission and even asked for removing the moon! Why? Because we didn't at any time need to use NVG's. It was really that bright flying over a barren desert under the moonlight. Must be your game settings then? I don't recall any Red helicopter or striker going after Huey's on their way to the Abrams. I'm almost certain you guys were not attacked flying that route same as us Mi-8's. Also, I did emphasise the importance of the transport role of the two helicopters in this mission. First, the sling loading to rearm the 10 tanks (we lost 3 crates by the way), and second, deploying troops. That's a lot to do in 3 hours. Was the ammo crate too heavy? the least weight I could give it was 1000 kg. Other crates (such as the Huey crate - last cargo unit on the list) can have a lesser weight and probably make things easier. Therefore, please run a quick test with the Huey flying that specific Huey crate at a lesser weight and tell me if it's better that way. It probably is, and I'd happily change that. I don't own the Huey, so, anyone who does is kindly asked to run quick tests in that regard. The reds, and even some Blue players, urged me after the mission to remove the moon, so that using NVG's become a thing and strikers stop hunting helicopters as it was the case. Again, it was really that bright. Hope to see you again in round 2 which will probably kick off in 2 weeks.

Server News: * As you may know, players can finally control M60 tanks and drive them like any other controllable tank we have. This has been the case since the latest OB update. * Operation Two Towns: - M60's are now controllable. - Bradley's were replaced by more M60's. - Most BMP-2's were replaced by more T-55's (only 2 x BMP-2's remain at the FARP for ME scripting reasons). * Operation Sukhumi - The Beginning is back online: - T-55's vs M60's and both are controllable through CA. EDIT: Did something change in the forums' layout, or why do I have such big spaces between lines and paragraphs?!
-
Close Air Support - Moonlight! was a fun one! A nice challenge. However, without the moon it would be a bigger and a more interesting challenge. I'll make some changes and announce them soon.
-
If not enough players sign up or show up for the event tomorrow, Close Air Support - Moonlight!, then I'll have to cancel it and try some other time. We'll see.
-
Server News: * Operation Ossetia: - 6 x MiG-29A's instead of 8. - 12 x F-14A's instead of 10. - The Tech Combine building is the only thing Blue must destroy at Senaki-Kolkhi Airbase. Used to be 7 buildings. - These changes hopefully help blue win the mission as they've never won it so far.
-
You can spice it up all you like @ALL: The signups are basically for reserving slots. However, if you want to fly, but didn't sign up, you can still show up on Saturday minutes before the event kicks off to get the password.
-
Mi-24's are therefore not available. Mi-8's don't and shouldn't fire any illuminating rockets. The Ka-50 can and the Su-25T has illuminating bombs. Kh-29T's don't track, you're right. That's why they're not available. Laser guided however, can track and blast the living soul out of any Abrams. AGM-65H are fine. AGM-65K's are not available anyway. Mi-8's and UH-1's have a lot to do in terms of sling loading 10 x ammo crates to rearm 10 tanks (T-80U's/Abrams) and also deploy troops to maybe capture bases with them.
-
Up to you, yes.
-
Operation Close Air Support - Moonlight! Signups: Note that the slot you sign up for is what you get primarily. However, you can swap slots with team members during the mission any time you want.
