Correct. Modifying existing files breaks IC. Making a new livery doesn't.

The risk is somewhat shared. Each year our government has to re-approve the continued spending of money for N additional airframes. We can "save" a huge amount of that 1.x trillion by walking away, but then we're left with another short-run plane like the F-22 and we get to start looking at alternatives from scratch. Ultimately, the project is too large and complicated to expect Lockmart to take on all the risk of a missed schedule, since a single slip would essentially put them out of business and leave us with either no airplanes or being forced to nationalize their assets, which isn't very popular. IMO, it's just the state of the game these days. Those old days of 6-8 companies submitting bids and prototypes to build a 15% chunk of our forces are long over. --gos

Total program costs don't really matter. From a per-fuselage perspective, it's already more cost effective than several competing airframes, while being more capable in a number of ways. True, but the US has been the world's de-facto police force since WW2 (which attitude was arguably started based on the Monroe Doctrine in 1823). In theory, the military has to plan for all possible future wars, they can't just plan based on who they happened to fight the last time. --gos

It's also a good proxy for Arrow engine-out best glide too =P -
Posted version 0.51 which fixes the Creech runway identifier
-
Thanks for the heads up, will take a look. Edit: looks like a typo in the runway name next to the ILS identifier. Will fix shortly.

FYI, I just posted a new version 0.92 which fixes refueling probe labeling, the alpha/theta symbols, and a few lamps. The base textures were updated to RAZBAM's 1.5.7.7473.311 from open beta. Passes integrity check. See my sig for the discussion thread & download link in the user files area. --gos

rawr, 'murica!

It is, but he didn't ask permission. My license says not to redistribute.

Ugh, quartermaster stole my work. =\

I had a texture update in-progress that stalled. Will try to make time to update the mod this weekend. Note that the discussion thread for my english cockpit is linked in my sig. --gos

rmin would probably be more accurate, since radius is usually written 'r' instead of 'R'

Most fighters aren't FIKI either. =P

How it Works: Mi-8 Ice Protection System
gospadin replied to AlphaOneSix's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Correct. If the automatic de-ice worked correctly and didn't lose too much power on the first engine, you engage the 2nd one manually. -
We have not yet gotten air-to-air radios to work with SSM. Key binding brings up the menu, you can change channels, but we cannot yet turn the radio on. Without working radios you cannot join with a refueling aircraft, and they won't extend the refueling probe. We haven't yet tried having a real module "bait" the S-3 to extend the drogue and let us sneak in behind it. That may work if the bait stays close enough, but I know the AI gets really picky. --gos

I'm sure the team will internally discuss future plans after our original goal is achieved. --gos

We simply don't share updates mid-month. We do answer questions though. --gos

** AJS-37 Changelog / Update Master List **
gospadin replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Patches now come out on Wednesdays, but there's no guarantee every Wednesday will have a patch. Per a comment in another thread, this week's patch was apparently delayed. -
Just watch our main thread FAQ section in the 2nd post (linked in my .sig)... one of us will post it there.

We currently have two aggressor liveries in our base texture package. At some point I'll post our official livery list. --gos PS: We already have a dedicated thread, no reason to use this one for discussion...

We plan to share our template.

You can copy data between members of your household, then just run an update/repair afterwords to double-check the contents. That might save on bandwidth.

Mine was fast, 8GB in just a few minutes. Normally that torrent would take about 90 minutes. bravo ED!
