We know what is needed to become a 3rd party, and we don't feel we're ready yet to ask ED. We appreciate the compliment, but we know our work has a LONG way to go. Additionally, some of the "good" stuff is us leveraging the SFM/SSM, which official 3rd parties cannot really do. I'd prefer there be no comments about others in this thread, please. They all kick ass in their own ways and have done a lot of great work. I have a ton of respect for the difficulty of the development process, much more so than before we started. --gos

You may be thinking of the AGM-88 HARM, which is probably what's coming with the F-18. The AGM-45 Shrike is already in-game, you can mount it on an S-3 Viking for a BLUEFOR SEAD role if you want one, I am pretty sure. As to "releasing technology to us" that would be part of SDK access already. I'm 100% certain that if we had SDK access, we could implement the Shrike, because of the fact that SEAD works on the Su-25T. No reason to expect that kind of capability isn't part of their advanced APIs. --gos

AGM-45 Shrike is currently only usable by AI controlled A-4E aircraft. (And it does work just fine when used by the AI) It's one of the things we're researching, but is unlikely to work without SDK access, which we don't have. --gos

The turbulence setting is great, but the increment should be larger. 0.1m/s is too small. Should be +/- 0.5m/s per click, otherwise takes too long to get the proper gusts. 101157Z AUTO 25018G37KT 191V281 10SM CLR 19/M06 A2981 RMK AO2 = 38 clicks

Appreciate the compliment, but we basically started from zero ourselves. (Though there were a number of kind folks for us to bounce questions off of) Please stick with it and I'm sure you'll catch up. If you have specific questions, feel free to PM. --gos -
DCS Weather - Real time weather in your DCS World
gospadin replied to chromium's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Yea, same behavior as 2.0.5. There's a few errors in the logs, but not at my PC where I can post them for review. Maybe I'll look at it tonight if I get time and Chromium hasn't had the chance. -

Photoshop templates are huge, roughly 1 GiB for the A-4E externals even. I don't want that pushed as part of a game update. -
Sorry, I don't speak Russian. I am just using Google Translate to try to be helpful. If it is annoying or frustrating when Google ****s up your language, I will stop posting. Apologies! --gos

Большое спасибо Если А-6 существовали, мы бы не сделали A-4 :pilotfly:

Thank you so much for making it adjustable! Too much makes me sick. --gos

Nope. Newsletter usually links to hidden videos, which we unhide after we publish it. --gos

I simply changed them from hidden to public. Youtube marks them as new uploads, though you can see from the date when they were recorded (early 2016). I figured people might be curious at seeing where we were early on... --gos

In theory, turning off nosewheel steering should cause the nosewheel to freely castor. If that's not what is happening, it's a code bug.

Pre-calculated ballistic tables for weapon delivery existed for many aircraft up until the late '60s or early 70s. Cross reference your airspeed and altitude and it tells you a gunsight depression value to use for the weapon you're using. These then drive the mission profile planning, e.g. "approach target on a heading of 120° at 1250' MSL at 400 knots and set your gunsight for 122 mils". The trick is that these documents were typically part of tactical manuals which are classified, very few are available on google.

If the developer released their photoshop template then this is usually easy, search here and see if it has what you need: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/texture_templates/ If not, it's very time consuming. --gos

Radio beacon types for ARK-9

Yup, it's controlled by ATC flipping a switch in the tower. =P -

User Made Skins corrupted latest version
gospadin replied to Davee's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
This. Fundamentally each M-2000C skin author simply needs to update their skins to work with the new texture and number layout. -
Radio beacon types for ARK-9
gospadin replied to IanCassels's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Those letters are the morse code identifiers of beacons. When tuning them in, you need to listen to the morse code to ensure you've tuned the correct beacon. Two letter codes are for "outer" beacons (somewhere 3-5km from the end of the runway) and single-letter codes are for inner beacons (around 1km from the end of the runway). For Anapa, only the active runway NDBs will be transmitting, based on the wind. So if RWY 04 at Anapa is active (e.g. Wind calm or from the Northeast) then you can tune in AN/N. If RWY 22 is active (wind from the Southwest in excess of 5 m/s) then you'll only be able to hear "AP" and "P." Since they're on the same frequencies, you can actually use the morse code identifier to determine the active runway. Obviously for a helicopter, there's little use for outer beacons unless you're trying to fly a fixed-wing-sized pattern. --gos
