What is the default value? I believe that the default value contributes to blurry text and dials in the cockpit.
-
So you mean to say that if OTT activates ASW and my fps drops to 36, using the keybinds I can set it to OFF again and my fps will get back to 72?
-
I have Warthog HOTAS + Cougar MFDs and every week or so, I have to rebind many keys. Has anyone experienced that?
-
"My ASW is set to off for DCS profile, but for some reason during gameplay, the FPS will cut in half to 36fps and won't go back to 72fps" - > That's what I'm curious about. For the life of me, why when ASW is OFF it still cuts the FPS?
-
Thanks. But does it change back to 72fps if you have a drop? My default settings are off for ASW. And what is your Encode Resolution?
-
Doesn't seem to work for me. The rotation to either side takes my view out onullf the cockpit. These are my settings: Just using HOTAS keys to add the extra rotation to either side.

nullTwo questions: What is the recommended value for Encode Resolution for my 4070 Ti Super OC (16GB Vram) and Q3 running at 72Hz? My ASW is set to off for DCS profile, but for some reason during gameplay, the FPS will cut in half to 36fps and won't go back to 72fps. Why is that and how can I force the game to go back up to 72fps without quitting to desktop?

Trying to get optimal graphic settings for SP and MP?

I'll give it a go. TBH, flying high or low, the grass settings is not something I care much about. -
Trying to get optimal graphic settings for SP and MP?
Gil80 replied to Gil80's topic in Virtual Reality
Again, thank you very much for the detailed explanation and the time you took to write it. Much appreciated!!! Have you ever noticed a difference in graphics quality when switching Terrain Textures from High to Low? With the dcs-texture-optimizer and the CGTC - Caucasus retexture? Update: Had a MP game with 20 people, Syria map. Within 10 seconds of gameplay on the ground, I got from 72 to 36fps. The strange thing is I got it while ASW was disabled. Why is that? -
Trying to get optimal graphic settings for SP and MP?
Gil80 replied to Gil80's topic in Virtual Reality
OK, so I gave these suggestions a shot. What I did was: Used the suggested settings by @LucShep Used the Shadows_Reduced_Impact_v2.11 mod Used dcs-texture-optimizer mod Enabled ASW Adaptive QuadViews is used via OpenXR API but I push the circle to the outmost area of the view, about 90% and render at 1/2. null I tried the usual supercarrier flyover and Caucasus map. Observations in SP mode: Stil judders when doing flyovers, but with noticeable improvements using @LucShep settings. Repeating No.1 with textures set to high and shadows on medium - there are more judders, and I can see the CPU Thread graph is noisy. Frames drop from 72 to about 50~60 for a second and then back again to 72. In Caucasus map, it is quite smooth even with textures set on high + shadows on med + terrain object shadows on flat. fps was 72 to 70 most of the time Frame time shows 13. Observations in MP mode: In Caucasus map, settings are as in No.2 above. During flight, at 7K ft, a sudden fps drop to 36fps, and I believe this is where ASW kicked in... but it never got back to 72. Even after I exited the server and started a new game. Only if I relaunch DCS, I'll get my 72 fps back. I'll try to stick to LucShep's settings, as it's hard for me to give up on eye-candy graphics and next I'll try the CGTC addon. P.S. - the in-game statistics show the Vram usage at about 8GB for the Caucasus in MP mode and about 6GB in SP mode. However, looking at MSI Afterburner GPU Vram Usage is maxed out. I can only attribute it to the crap that Windows run. -
Trying to get optimal graphic settings for SP and MP?

That's a great idea! I'll give it a go. Say, if you keep these mods on a HDD, doesn't the game load slower? -

I already use that, but then I read that I need to use SLAM for symlink... and that got me confused. -
Trying to get optimal graphic settings for SP and MP?
Gil80 replied to Gil80's topic in Virtual Reality
@LucShep I want to try these mods for testing how they may improve performance in my case, but I'm a bit confused with the order of installation. Using Shadows_Reduced_Impact_v2.11 + CGTC 2.84.1 + dcs-texture-optimizer It took my PC about 2 hours to compress the textures. At the end I got a TMP and MOD folders. Given the CGTC 2.84.1 mod and Shadows_Reduced_Impact_v2.11 are already enabled, then: Where do I copy the dcs-texture-optimizer Mod folder to? Should it be on a mechanical HDD or keep it in the same driver where DCS is installed (NVME)? I assume it will overwrite the CGTC 2.84.1 textures, so how can I use them together? Will it overwrite Shadows_Reduced_Impact_v2.11? -
DCS Optimized Textures Powershell Script
Gil80 replied to zbysiek's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
didn't quite get how to install this mod. so after the script finished, I ended up with a TMP folder and MOD folder. using a mod manager, where should I place these folders? should they be on a HDD or SSD drive? -
Trying to get optimal graphic settings for SP and MP?
Gil80 replied to Gil80's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks for the details respone. I will try these exact settings. However, and while you did mention "no matter the system" - I have to ask, doesn't the optimized textures powershell script helps in that regards to set the terrain detail to high? Same question for the shadow mod - if using it, why not "Terrain Object Shadows" - Flat or Medium and Shadows at Medium/High? Am I confusing the script to allow for better performance without sacrificing quality with something else? I know, I won't expect miracles, as you stated... just curious about the degree these mods help with keeping nice graphics by compressing, without losing performance. -
CGTC - textures overhaul mod for the Caucasus map
Gil80 replied to LucShep's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
So if I use the DCS Optimized Textures Powershell Script on the vanilla install of DCS, and then I install this mod, do I need to run the script again? -

I am about to try this mod. What settings would you suggest for VR, considering my spec in my OP? -

Trying to get optimal graphic settings for SP and MP?
Gil80 replied to Gil80's topic in Virtual Reality
Should I set it to 45 or adaptive? Also, do you mean that if I limit my fps to 72, but the CPU/GPU can't keep up, it will drop to 45 immediately? will it do it as soon as it goes from 72 to 71 fps? I'm on the latest BIOS version, and as you rightfully stated, Gigabyte didn't see fit to make a bespoke BIOS for this board. But, aren't the PCIe lanes share bandwidth with NVME drives? Regardless, I doubt I'll see significant improvements with the Auto settings and I hate it that I need to take the textures from HIGH to LOW even with a 16GB Vram. I was really surprised to see judders when doing a flyover supercarrier in SP mode... I don't know why most of the load is on the CPU and not the GPU in this case. I'll jump in game later and report my findings as well as report on my frametime. Thanks again for everyone for sharing from their knowledge to help with a better gameplay experience. -
Trying to get optimal graphic settings for SP and MP?
Gil80 replied to Gil80's topic in Virtual Reality
you were all correct. I set it to Auto and now GPU-Z is showing: I wonder if this will help alleviate the jittering I experience when I do a flyover next to the supercarrier. I don't know what are my frametimes, but I'll do a MP game and report back. Lastly, is the script of script of generating optimized textures actually makes a difference in Vram usage when setting is HIGH?null -

What headset and GPU are you running? I upgraded from RTX 3070, which has 8GB Vram, to the 4070Ti Super 16GB Vram... I was expecting a big boost in performance for the Q3, but that wasn't the case. Also upgrading from 32GB RAM to 64GB didn't do much. Quite disappointed that the 4090 is out of reach. -
Trying to get optimal graphic settings for SP and MP?
Gil80 replied to Gil80's topic in Virtual Reality
Thank you for your detailed response. I don't want to drop the render resolution below what I currently have because it will render to cockpit unreadable. I did try QuadView and I hate it. I still use it, but I set it to a point where I can barely feel it, as I tend to look down on the AMPCD in F18 without moving my head down. My motherboard is Gigabyte Z590I AORUS ULTRA. It supports PCIe 4.0 and I have Resizable BAR enabled. Based on GPU-Z: in my BIOS I have the option for Auto, X8 X8, or X8 X4 X4. It is currently set to X8 X8. RAM is set to X.M.P in BIOS. All the youtube videos I've seen about setting up Quest 3 with DCS show to use OpenXR's Turbo Mode which breaks AWS, hence my settings are as they are at the moment. I'm really thought the 16GB Vram of the 4070Ti Super will able to keep up at 72fps with the Quest 3 -

Even with 16GB of Vram? -
using this setup: The hardware is: CPU: Intel Gen11 Core i9 GPU: Asus TUF 4070 Ti Super (16GB) OC RAM: 64GB DDR4 3600MHz Oculus Quest 3 using Link cable with OpenXR and having these quite reasonable settings in VR (see attached screenshots). Anytime I do a flyover the supercarrier, I get major stutters and frames drop from a steady 72fps to 50fps. Any known issues with this?
