I was playing the instant intercept mission for the SU-27, took a missile hit that blew my wing off, used the launch override and fired a number of missiles off in different directions. One of the R-27ER missiles that I fired pretty much straight up in override mode, just kept going and going...I was at 8k altitude, it was accelerating until it hit a max of about 80,000 meters then all of a sudden started to bleed speed in space, fell back towards the ground, re accelerated to about 3000 kph until around 10k drag slowed it way down before it hit the ground. I am going to try to repeat it, I got a picture somewhere to. Worth looking into or is this a known behavior that is being worked on?

After F-18 release, what do u want more - fulcrum or viper?
zxarkov replied to SandMartin's topic in DCS Core Wish List
DCS quality Mig-29!!Not even a question in my mind for a second, PFM, clickable cockpit,etc..The M2K is basically a delta winged F-16 anyways.. -
I all I want for DCS Christmas missile wise is the R-77-1 ;-)

AI cheating behavior. Taking all the fun out.

I agree 100% and this is much higher on my wish list than some of the features that are being added.. -
Thanks guys looks like I am going to have to move my setup

Hey All I hate to ask this question but at the moment I use cellular broadband for internet and I am almost at the data cap for the month...I want to try the new 1.5.5.58642.188 patch, could anyone give me a rough estimate of size? Currently have 1.5.4.57288 Update 7, with a10c,CA,FC3,BS2,F86,mig15,m2k,p51,fw190,me109,uh1 and mi8 modules installed. If it is only a couple hundred mb I can do it, other wise I have to take my setup to a friends house..I really want to test the new su27 changes.

Looks like a good setup, I recommend getting a 2x8gb of the ram so it can run in dual channel mode, which yes is faster than running in single channel(1x16gb)

Moving to Windows 10 - any tips or pitfalls?
zxarkov replied to Frusheen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
What bs Microsoft forcing people to upgrade to get DX12..I am sticking with win7/personal preference I guess. If I had to, ill setup a dual boot. -
I had the most current updates, own m-2000 and mig21. Today's patch was about 300 mb.

[REPORTED]Crash to desktop after today update
zxarkov replied to Yuya6104's topic in General Problems
I am having the same issue with the most current 1.5.4 version and 2.03, crashes to desktop. The only thing that changed that I know of is patching the game, however I have not tried the mig-21 module for the last several patches. -
Considering the LW have to choose from a K-4 109 or a FW D9, I do not see any reason why the P-51D shouldn't get a realistic "boost" to 72" with the high octane fuel..

This is great news! Definitely on my list, good to know it is in the works.

Here is something worth considering: The over reliance on PGMs http://breakingdefense.com/2015/06/we-cant-always-count-on-smart-bombs-csba-study/

Sunk cost fallacy, cut the program if the costs cannot be reigned in. The future is in drones, pilot less/autonomous craft. Perhaps skip or hold off on major 5th gen aircraft spending and look towards the 6th gen.

If those numbers are actually correct, Id say the USAF needs a 3rd option then..
-
It is a aircraft that totally deserves a upgrade to keep the air frames flying and with enhanced capabilities possibly. It is a very cost effective weapon platform at $18.8 million a plane. Especially when used in low-intensity warfare against irregular forces, which are the most common type of conflicts for awhile now.The USAF needs to keep costs down with all its massive budget over-runs and new aircraft procurement issues.
-
I was not trying to say the A-10 is a effective aircraft for SEAD missions/anti-SAM nor was I implying that a upgrade package would change that. I was proposing a hypothetical what if scenario upgrade to the A-G capabilities or something along those lines.

The F-35 has a lot of advantages, no doubt. The low observable airframe, AESA radar/sensor packages, advanced gen HMDs giving it a clear edge in battlefield SA. However, at approx $100 million a unit and all the budget issues (cost overruns, etc) I believe it is way over budget. A single A-10C is what $18.8 million a unit? I expect the cost and maintenance per hour to be incredibly high as well with the F-35..my point is the weapon system has to be somewhat cost effective. At least with the A-10 you get your moneys worth and it is combat proven. In a modern full out war against nations armed with next gen s-300/s-400 systems, can we even say with certainty that the stealth aspects will be effective? If not I would say the money would have been much better spent on proven practical equipment and upgrades. Maybe a upgrade package for the A-10?

Bringing home a damaged bird is always interesting..especially with the ka50. I have got the emergency gear lever to work...the thing is if you wait until your attempting to land after sustaining damage, chances are you will have no common or main hydro left...so if you take a hit, drop the gear immediately. Problem solved ;)

Having a SSD gives you more than faster boot times, apps and games load much faster, games access the HD during gaming as well. In the windows computer performance rating, one of the categories is disk data transfer rate. Even with a Raptor HD, it would bring the whole system rating down(lowest score). It represents a key bottle neck to optimal system performance. Prices have come down on SSDs, performance/lifetime enhanced as well. I have 512GB SSD as my primary(windows, apps, games) and secondary regular HD for storage. It is easy and not expensive to do at this point, so why not?

Right On. Noctua cooling, regular size ATX,budget(?) and the 980 if possible.

I am down to play blackshark...central USA.
-
I was introduced to DCS with the KA50 Blackshark and it is still my favorite.
-
I looked up the price tag for this system,$1700 is way too much for those specs. Id seriously consider looking at building your own system, you could save hundreds and have a better system.

Very cool, I love the P-47..its raw power, toughness and firepower..Radial engines FTW;) Can't wait for the additional ww2 planes and the Normandy 1944 map to be released.
