  1. I hate the idea of software being forced upon people. There is nothing wrong with being able to op out of spamming or installation of unnecessary bloatware.AGH. I hated steam when it first came out(still do) because I realized it was the future of gaming/software distribution and DRM.
  2. I haven't got a single of my gamer buds into DCS yet..:( Even bought one of them some modules when DCS was on sale! I know it isn't everyone's cup of tea but I know at least one of them would like it if more people gave it a chance.
  3. Seems strange to me, I would do a clean reinstall of Nvidia drivers, reboot, adjust Nvidia 3d settings/DCS graphics options. Performance has been a big boost for me with the 1.5 beta for the most part. There are a lot of variables at play here I think.
  4. Honestly rather more than any other project, I would much rather see a higher fidelity model of the Su-27. Id pay 4x the normal asking price for a single aircraft to get that..
  5. If you upgrade to a larger SSD you could certainly clone your current drive to a larger without reinstalling anything. Look into Clonezilla, etc.
  6. My DCS 1.5 beta crashes randomly, same error though: APPCRASH dx11backend.dll My guess we are not alone in this and the ED is aware of it..Still worth it tho to play with the new DCS ;)
  7. It is sad but true. Used to be a 100% AMD fan for many years until the core solo/duo line turned me to the Intel side. Intend to stay with Intel to but still want AMD around to keep prices down on hardware. Can AMD really expect to make a comeback?
  8. Do you plan on running DCS at higher resolutions than current? I recommend upgrading to a Nvidia 9 series card, the 970 or 980 both excellent value for the money. More energy efficient by far than your SLI setup, also features like Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR).
  9. Just want to add my two cents, 16 GB is a perfect amount. Also another reason for not mixing and matching ram is make sure it can run in dual channel mode or whatever your mobo supports.
  10. It might be barely enough for your setup however many users run DCS at very high resolutions, extra VRAM is needed.
  11. I just want to add to this strange AI ground unit behavior I noticed on a bridge. KA50 Campaign/Oil Wars, a column of M1A1 Abrams is making a advance, a decent size bridge being the choke point. My first attempt was to destroy the lead/rear tanks on bridge. However, they just drive off the side of the bridge and into the river, coming out on the far bank.. I will also try to recreate this and or get more specific data.
  12. Win 7 64 bit
  13. 1) A 2) B 3) A 4) A
  14. Yeah I am usaully the first to say just clone the drive, however, with your situation/hardware setup, reinstalling DCS world to the new drive might be better.
  15. At the top of my list is the ability to play over a LAN network! This is a must in my book, I consider this a basic game function that is neglected nowadays. Another idea which I think would be fun, would be the ability for players to man AAA guns,SAMs,ATCs and ground radar sites. Perhaps player driven GCI?
  16. Any Mirage would be great..oh yeah AvioDev is working on an F1 right now ;)
  17. +1 P-47D Thunderbolt for being a personal favorite. The Spitfire IX would be a 2nd choice. Good to know they are both in the works ;)
  18. Sometimes I try to get the sites to open fire so I can fix their positions. Circle back out of range and engage at max cannon range. Heh it only takes a few small caliber hits and the Shkval is knocked out :(
  19. We only need the PFM now!! Id be willing to pay extra for it if ED would do that next..
  20. Anyone worried about the reliability of SSDs, in general the newer generations are pretty good. Samsung for example offers a 5 year warranties and 150 TBW lifetimes on their 850 series. Any further concerns, image your drive to a regular HDD periodically for backup purposes.
  21. I know shells like from the Flak 88, used a rotational or mechanical fusing. Using a ground based "director" system, a mechanical computer was used to calculate the correct fuze settings, twisting a ring around the fuze on the shell to explode at a certain point in space, usually a barrage in the targets predicted flight path. Proximity fuzes are usually used with mid caliber or larger AAA. You are probably right about the 23mm exploding to protect from falling ammunition, as they are certainly contact fuzed.
  22. Yes make room on your SSD or upgrade to a bigger one, DCS is worth its storage space. BTW Arma rocks ;)
  23. Go for a Noctua air cooling kit. Its a Excellent air cooling solution and super quiet. Made is Austria, great warranty. I went with it vs a corsair liquid cooling kit due to cost/case mounting factors. Have not been disappointed.
  24. Sukhoi Su-27SM No question....more detail,clickable buttons...higher fidelity...Some day perhaps.
  25. Your not hitting the "S" key by any chance? I would accidentally hit that sometimes when pressing "D" for cycle missile and disable the ASC. At the higher speeds this meant the nose of the SU would pitch really fast=black out/G-Loc, followed by a inverted flat spin..
