I do fail number #2 but the aircraft was in horizontal flight with no AB engaged at Mach 1.0/1.1 at times. So far I couldn't met that performance by the Flanker in any of its variables regarding Weight and Altitude. Thanks for the answer!

A couple fo days back I was RTB with 2000lb of fuel and two Magics under my wings at aproximately 7000 feet and I was steady at Mach 1 with full military thrust. Is that even possible? I didn't save the track, but I will next time i see it. Has it happened to anybody out there?

Leave the "balance" to "The Force" and let's concentrate on simulation of reality.:D

We don't know 100% for sure the efectiveness of the Phoenix... as how will it be simulated within DCS environment is a matter to be seen when the module is released. Does anyone knows when does the Phoenix operates in semi-active mode and when does it goes fully active? Does it have the same principle as the 120 of operating with data-link/inertial mid-course guidance? Plus, is still to be seen the capability of the tomcat doppler pulse radar to keep traking a flanking or receding target!

Cool! Now let's get a Mig-23MLD, a Su-22M and a Mig-27. Long live soviet stuff!!!

Hehe. I'm getting that book from Frank Chubba... looks interesting.

mvsgas, I do apologize for the whole discussion. My limited knowledge on english language made me understand that fluttering was a variation of the X axis of the whole aircraft, and not just wing movement (flutter). I do apologise for that and the answer is no: the FBW do not prevent that, it affects the flight envelope, it indeed does not have anything to do with how the structure of the aircraft moves due to a multiple array of variables. Cheers man!
-
How would it? The FBW should have all posible variants of wing loading to prevent any unwanted manouver (in this case, flutter). But I'll read the article today to understand the issue in depth. Thanks for the info!
-
Interesting fact. I wonder why the FBW does not correct the flutter by itself. On the other hand, the roll performance on the F-5 is indeed affected when carrying wingtip missiles. Thanks for the data.
-
I guess you're right...
-
Why would you carry 120s in the wingtips of those 16s in Afghanistan? I hardly doubt Iran would try to do anything.

Pilot wanted to check on two blond chicks and impress them. They ended up deaf. Mission accomplished hotshot!

Thanks for the reply guys! I personally can't wait for the Viggen: is a very interesting aircraft and it is going to be the first capable dedicated strike one. Every day I get disappointed that the Viggen has not been released yet, but the enthusiasm is immense. Bring it on!

This thread has become huge! I was trying to find that article in here of the RAF pilot that got a ride on a two seater Viggen, does anybody has that link handy? Cheers!

IMHO I think we should enjoy what we have. I know we'd love to have a 2k-5, a Rafale, a 27SM or even an F-22, but we all know deep inside that all those aircraft wether they are classified or their governments won't give a release on the data to make a proper realistic simulation on their performance and systems. I am really curious how "realistic" the Eurofighter Typhoon will be, having being introduced not so long ago (no matter how early the Tranche presented is).

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 8

We have the ultimate weapon against the Blue Team! [ame] [/ame] -
It's made to give an advantage to the Russian side, as it's commonly perceived that the 120s give it to the 15s. Let's stop comments on the issue there; believe me, ALL of us would hate another 120s/ET/advantage/disadvantage discussion and it would be out of topic.

Stats don't say much. You can fly at a time where most pilots are rookies and get tons of kills and not fly in the "Danger Zone" time! (that'd be when the US and Europe are online).
