Depends on your wallet. You can wait an awful long time :) VR is very subjective and relates strongly to the DCS style & environment you choose to fly in. I went from 50" 4K curved + 3 monitors to VR and never went back. I fly mostly helos.... Now the wife stole the TV and the kids stole all bar 1 of the monitors... A friend who flies only Helos has a 65" curved and VR... the VR sits on the shelf for the most part. So there you see both sides of the coin, only you can choose...

SR Client goto settings, click on reset radio overlay... OR Hold down SHIFT key and right click on a running program icon on the taskbar, a popup menu should appear, click on Move then use the Left/Right Arrow key to move it.

BigNewy, I understand things can go wrong and its all very well saying do not worry in an offhand manner, however I find this a very unsatisfactory state of affairs. I get that things go wrong and ED are working on it but having MULTIPLAYER disabled by the DRM because EDs servers are down is crazy. People have taken time out to turn up for a training session which is now all a bit of a waste.... but there you go...

DCS authorisation failed on DCS start 1305z.... Server issues DCS end MP not available. It appears I can use DCS in SP for 2-3 days.... Considering the £'s invested I'm not sure I like this 'new' security method at all......

Keep it simple... Most people use RADAR ALT for the majority of the time... For BARO ALT, short distance local flights QFE is good, i.e. the way it is when you jump into the cockpit. For longer stuff depending on :- your interest the weather the time (day / night} the terrain Flying with true pilotage i.e. F10 set map only i.e. F10 does not show your location or others or threats etc.. Congested airspace / Flying with others operationally on MP. i.e. Gunship Teams & Slicks need know or to set immediate deconflict heights... unless the ground is flat everywhere QNE is not effective. ...CONSIDER setting QNH. You can find your QNH settings at any time, anywhere, at the start, in flight, whenever :). Just look at your briefing page. LALT + B will bring it up at any time....

Frag I think you find that that is local....perhaps joystick or calibration. I see no issues with the module. (VIRPIL T-50) As said earlier SA342 is by design sensitive to control inputs and any joystick irregularity may cause issues.
-
I am certain it is.... I can only suggest.. FBB MUST be off unless using a FBB stick. The aircraft should be flown with all AP channels on UNLESS for a specific reason. Check you axes assignments. DCS often binds all sorts of axes to all sort of stuff. Clear then all off bar what you actually use. Ensure your devices are correctly calibrated. If you still have a problem run a DCS repair. The SA342 is by design sensitive to control inputs. If unfamiliar with this tune your pitch and roll axes within DCS by reducing Y to around 60% in the first instance then increase until comfortable. With the latest joysticks or with extensions 100% if often good though.

No idea who P King is but mission opens fine with 229th AHB current MODS pack I maintain. (Gizzy converts refers to a clatter of MODs converted from a previous mod Format)

The Gaz FM is a great improvement and truly great fun to fly especially so in its designed role down very low. I have regularly flown this model from initial release and the difference from then to now is the same difference as between night and day. How the FM compares to reality I have no idea but I'm sure I can do things in the UH1H, Mi-8 and KA50 in sim that would result in grief if attempted in RL. I feel the Gazelle control responses demands careful set up of equipment and software to maximise enjoyment of the model characteristics. Flying with a short throw, strong spring joystick with a sharp centre will be challenging. Models when declared 'released' are often improved in time as circumstances permit, UH1H EGT and MI-8 Cargo handling for example. The first person to release a reliable 'sh-t' filter for the internet will make a fortune.

Here you go, a simple video showing how to add 2 images, a 'Route card' and a 'Training Pattern' using 7-zip.. Best viewed full screen... 7-Zip can be downloaded here https://www.7-zip.org/ Hope this helps...
-
Sure, I throw up a simple vid in the next few days..
-
If you wish to add images to your kneeboard on a mission basis, write and save your mission. Use a zip programme, 7-zip is free and good, view the folder structure of the miz file with 7-zip and in the root add a folder called KNEEBOARD and then in this, add a folder called IMAGES. Place your pictures you want in this folder. Done, clients when join those images will show in their kneeboard. Hope this helps....

5 settings to consider adjusting to maximise VR clarity and display definition...... the first 3 will effect your frame rate Under Options, System Texture Setting (for me, High) Res of Cockpit Display (for me, 1024) Under Options / VR Pixel Density (for me 1.6 or 1.8 map dependent) Force IPD Distance (for me 50 but you can quickly experiment in game without restarts via options) Under Controls for airframe Cockpit Camera Move Forward / Back (for me, move forward until when looking at the cyclic / joystick in VR I 'sense' it is where in RL my hand is) Under your brain... regularly clean the device lens with the right cloth if wearing glasses as I do, every day I use the Rift, clean your spectacle lens - it is a muck magnet, this I cant stress enough if wearing glasses ensure they are correctly positioned...

Totally disagree. I can read all cockpit instruments without difficulty in all 13 modules I own but of course this is dependent on your system, the way you set it up and your mindset. 980ti OC my end, seat / camera adjusted so that the viewed cyclic / joystick 'appears' naturally where my real life cyclic / joystick / hand is. DCS often by default has the view set further back from the instruments I can understand difficulty if PvP with opponents who may have large monitor(s) (sometime 5!) and use the zoom function in 2D to maximum advantage. In rotary craft VR excells in most situations as it can do in other airframes in many scenarios.

VR (Oculus) head movements causing violent rolls
Gizzy replied to doghouse's topic in Bugs and Problems
No nothing similar as you describe but I have had similar experiences that were traced to some axes mapped to unwanted additional inputs. DCS is a right pain in assigning axis all over to all sorts of devices - maybe check for unwanted assignments? -
Vikhr missiles stop working after a while and nose dive
Gizzy replied to fargo007's topic in Bugs and Problems
Entirely dependent on terrain, topography and mission objective unless you are referring to flat ground in the open and nothing between you and the target. -
Problem with warthog throttle

Snap, happened to me, albeit caused by a bad bad cup of coffee making an escape bid... new PCB fixed it... -

Thanks for the update lads... Great to hear that  -
No idea if the current discount is applied to the amazon end... Yes, I ordered direct from Virpil myself but of course you have on top VAT currently 20% in UK, postage and customs charge so you need to factor all in to decide. On a stick, base, extensions, cover and desk stand the VAT bill for me alone was around £105 plus a levy for the post office to handle the transaction... they stick you all ways ha ha

Not from Virpil but amazon.co.uk has them... https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=virpil

Think of something like this.... Run this application... C:\Program Files (x86)\sox-14-4-2\sox.exe with these parameters to record 10 seconds... (change the 10 for longer) -t waveaudio −d "c:/rift-sox/test.wav" trim 0 10 and with this to playback... "c:/rift-sox/test.wav" -t waveaudio If in difficulties I can send it in a profile..
-
To handle lifting co-ordinates off a map in VR (Ka50 ' Garmin etc) or just to remember something by using a simple Voiceattack command running a cmd line sox.exe command. This records audio and plays it back. Easy to configure, I have 3 commands... "10 second record" - records whatever I say in 10 seconds... or a "20 second record"... times of course are easily changed. The third command is playback... use as many times as necessary ... simples... recordings overwrite each other so these is no space issue.. Works well... might be useful if configured for your purposes.......

Specifically check your C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\Mi-8MTV2\Input\Mi-8MTV2\ folder for any lua related to the devices you use. i.e. Joystick - HOTAS Warthog.lua or Throttle - HOTAS Warthog.lua.. Do a search for 'gunner' - you will probably find that the same line in this (these) files are '--' out... Amend your MODs accordingly..
-
Check your other MODS and input lua's especially TMWH that you may have engaged... T-50, MFD'a, Button Boxes etc all can be bound my end..
-
Hi Fargo.. By default it is disabled in the default.lua, no idea why, see pic below (at the top you will see the file path) see line 36 (line number may vary, there are other edits in this file) remove the 2 dashes, job done - best to incorporate into a generic Mi8 OVGME mod with the other changes that you may want - I can fire you mine if wanted but may be different to your own amendments etc..
