Do you also feel this is a problem when learning the BS2 ?
Gizzy replied to jfri's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
It should be straight forward. PM me the 2 links you use and I can do it for you if you wish.. -
Generally speaking the system should be engaged. The SAS (Stability Augmentation System) when on, supplies short-term attitude and attitude rate stabilisation for use in hands-on flying. It is designed to stabilise the helicopter against outside disturbances, and augments or helps pilot input. The SAS mode is designed so that pilot control motions (pitch and roll) are enhanced while helicopter motions caused by outside disturbances are counteracted. As for 'flying on rails' that's SAS - what the aircraft designers intended to meet their customer requirements. Of course, as I said you can fly with it all off or just one channel off or 2. If you are flying low and fast in an operational environment have it on and it will assist you greatly by allowing you to concentrate on everything around you. On the other hand it's a game, fly it anyway you want. If I was asked for advice I'd say learn it with SAS on. To understand it further once familiar and competent in the aircraft with SAS on knock off the heading channel and fly low, fast and evasive.... then knock off the roll channel and fly and finally knock off the pitch.... continue flying some and then put the channels one at a time in the same reverse order.

SAS in helicopters I believe is designed to, and normally is, on all the time unless defective. How well this model SAS duplicates RL only a true SA342 pilot can say however Polychop have said that RL pilots have commented on it sometimes being too assertive... Yes of course you can fly with some or all the channels turned off and initially I tried this but concluded I prefer all channels on accepting Polychops modelling of RL SAS. I experience no difficulty. I'm sure if they receive feedback that the SAS needs tweaked they will.

It is all working just fine with me... The stick holds position on trim function... The stick behaviour as described appears to me to suggest either the FFB box is ticked in the MISC section or you have control input issues... I know you said FBB is off but may be worth double checking in the MISC section... just in case...

My pleasure Tom...

Hi Tom, Yes you can but you need to MOD a lua file, C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\SA342\Input\joystick\default.lua... This should do it for you... any problems PM and I'll fire across a file.. {down = device_commands.Button_1,cockpit_device_id = devices.FD, value_down = 1.0, name = _('FLARES L'), category = _('MODDED')}, {down = device_commands.Button_1,cockpit_device_id = devices.FD, value_down = 0.0, name = _('FLARES BOTH'), category = _('MODDED')}, {down = device_commands.Button_1,cockpit_device_id = devices.FD, value_down = -1.0, name = _('FLARES R'), category = _('MODDED')}, {down = device_commands.Button_3,cockpit_device_id = devices.FD, value_down = 1.0, name = _('FLARE SLOW'), category = _('MODDED')}, {down = device_commands.Button_3,cockpit_device_id = devices.FD, value_down = 0.0, name = _('FLARE FAST'), category = _('MODDED')}, {down = device_commands.Button_3,cockpit_device_id = devices.FD, value_down = -1.0, name = _('FLARE OFF'), category = _('MODDED')}, {down = device_commands.Button_2,cockpit_device_id = devices.FD, value_down = 1.0, name = _('FLARE SEQ'), category = _('MODDED')}, {down = device_commands.Button_2,cockpit_device_id = devices.FD, value_down = 0.0, name = _('FLARE SINGLE'), category = _('MODDED')},

Don't get too excited, weight stays when troops unloaded and some issues crashing MP BUT we are getting there :) -

UH1h 'rough' M4 Infantryman weight test comes in around 198lbs per soldier by my reckoning... FAT 30C 2 airframe loadouts... UH1h Full fuel no weapons or gunners = 7747 lbs + 14 M4 Infantry UH1h (rather foolishly) Full fuel, 2 M134 to the front. 2 M134s on the sides and 2x rocket pods with 19 Mk151HE = 10523lbs Both have approximately the same maximum achievable indicated hover height of around 5' (10523 - 7747) / 14 = 198.2 lbs per soldier. -
Lads, to be honest I totally sick of this constant back and forth constantly regurgitating the same stuff. We all got opinions. The original first post was from the Devs saying they are looking into it so lets leave it till they come back. Leave this post free for an update from the devs when they get sorted. If you like the Gaz fly it. I do despite some issues. If you don't like it leave it the hanger or ticket ED for a refund if you think you have a case.

Just as a comparison with your settings I get 27 FPS sitting in a a Huey in a field.... The shadow rendering and visuals is cleared up and very good... W10, i7-6700 OC 4.5, STRIX 980Ti OC, 16RAM, SSD etc... The frame rate can only get better... :) Nevada on release was the same.... VR performance could be a a little tight though I reckon...

VERY much Alpha... Pretty rough install with loads of repairs before it sorted itself and recognised the Normandy Map by asking for a serial number. FPS down 60% compared to the Caucasus pushing 4K through a STRIX 980TI OC by a i7OC... Using Medium settings with HDR and DS off its not too bad high up but for rotary wings not so good visually due to the shadow rendering above say 200'. NOE its good though....of course the trees being solid is good. The lighting effect by whatever method they use is fantastic - very very good and for rotaries the distance judgement coming into land is very good compared to the Caucasus.... Great potential.....

Just checked, yes they assign fine with me... either one..

one TARGET SCRIPT FOR all A/C & switch STATES
Gizzy replied to Gizzy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just tested it.... worked fine. Code as you probably knows sends DX2 and my Teamspeak picks it up OK.... One thing I have noticed is that the TMWH mike push hat is a bit touchy, it has to be engaged straight down to work... I've got 2 throttle units and both are the same. You can test by running the script, then run the device analyser and click on the top left icon, select throttle and check the button operation. Hope this helps some... -

Then your drivers were pussies, mine were below the treetops when not washing out water from the drumlin bogs... :music_whistling:

What happened to the "in a few weeks"announcement?
Gizzy replied to sirscorpion's topic in Polychop-Simulations
I like the Gaz... fly it regularly and despite some issues really support it.... As a customer I'm afraid I have to say I am disappointed in your Polychop badged patronising response. A simplistic 'unable to comment at the moment' would have sufficed'. It is a shame really.... -
Thrustmaster TARGET crashes when stopping a script

Yes, Yes & YES.. Thanks Pac-Man for posting - sorted - profile changing on the fly now works and no more W10 hanging on closure...
